Thanks Gringa for going full-blown Maid. You look adorable!!!!!! I say that MISA and Akane are the most intuitively brilliant "rhythm section" in rock. The Instrumental Maid RUclips channel also has some great "white room" video with vocals cut out. Now I love Saiki and her amazing voice, but those white room instrumentals really show their musical prowess. I also say that listening to a Band-Maid song moe than once is like mining for gems. There are so many hidden in their songs.

Enjoying your content. These ladies definitely know how to enjoy themselves on and off stage. There are numerous fancams at smaller venues where you get to watch them goofing off. MISA, in particular loves to drink. She still drinks beer on stage but used to take sips of bourbon straight out of the bottle in between songs.

Imo are the best rock band of the century and the TOP 10 in rock history along with other wonderful women like The Warning and Lovebites... Worth watching as you'll have a smile on your faces throughout. 😉🎸🤘At 7:00 - That "bringing on the mud" with that grungy guitar was Miku on rhythm guitar. Kanami writes lots of little scrapes, slides, power chords, bends and octave slides for Miku to add to her rhythmic chord patterns but it's Miku's vocal harmonies that I love most in this song; such a perfect counterpoint to Saiki's strong, emotional tones.
LOL that was awesome... Herman Li has a great sense of humor. When I listen to Love bites I hear sometimes some of the DragonForce stuff that I've heard in the leads which is pretty sweet ...I mean some of the techniques.

This song has so many fantastic parts. - The broad, anthemic, wall of sound-intro - The half-time drums during the chorus - The rythmic uptempo of the second verse - The dirty breakdown before the solo - The solo - The unison part of the solo, where all instruments mark Kanamis notes But none of these parts is my favourite. My favourite part is Mikus simple backing vocals. It is such a dense wall of sound-song, but it is like she is singing in a void of complete lonelieness. It catches me everytime as I cannot understand how they found that empty space in a song where so much is going on.
🎉Princess la Gringa! ❤ Welcome! You have musical ears to pick up all the work Kanami does here. She’s doing the job of three guitars simultaneously. I didn’t appreciate all that until I saw her live. I was a few feet from the front of her amp and finally got the full Mincho. I agree with Jimmy about her phrasing. This one is in my top three Kanami solos. Just brilliantly crafted and executed. On the studio track, she used two guitars and punched in that bubble up. She has to skip a note or two to play the two parts simultaneously. The older lives she plays fewer notes, but here she nails almost all of them. I guarantee she specifically worked on that. (My other top Mincho solos: Daydreaming, Moratorium and FATE) Their live shows are an amazing experience. Adrenaline and dopamine dump. You absolutely MUST make it your life’s mission to see them. You will be free to unleash your inner dork 😂

Now, if you want to understand the amazing range and versatility of Saiki's voice, you should react to "Puzzle", the officlal live acoustic version from the Tokyo Zepp Arena concert in 2019. It's the same melody and the same lyrics, but with an entirely different vocal feel. It's a must to react to that version of "Puzzle" to understand how great Band-Maid is. It's a duet with only Saiki singing and Kanami accompanying her on acoustic guitar. Please read the lyrics from this rock version first to understand the ones in the acoustic version. One warning: get some Kleenex.
Thank you for your wonderful comment. The performance skills of each instrument in BAND-MAID are world class. The chorus is also the best. KANAMI has been learning piano for over 20 years since she was 3 years old, and has composed over 130 songs. MIKU writes most of the lyrics. Surprisingly, there are no bad songs. KANAMI hopes to further improve her guitar technique. They are an amazing group. We would like to hear more videos of your great reactions. (Translation software used)

Two things I really love about this performance, aside from the incredible music and musicianship, is Kanami’s solo (one of my favourites of hers) and the lighting. Great uniform @gringa! I'm happy to see the love. It's funny you brought up Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins becasue Misa has said she was inspired by them! I call Misa the Lead Bassist lol. She doesn't just keep doing the same thing over and over. She's playing a bass as if she's the lead guitar. But yet never in competition with it. They enhance each other! They are brilliant musicians. This is a song I can listen to over and over again and always find something new to listen too. That's like most of hteir songs though. They just have repeat playability. I don't know how many times I've watched reactions to some songs but never get tired of them. The album this is from, Just Bring It, is my favorite manily becasue it's has 4 of my top 10 songs. Puzzle, Moratorium, YOLO, Secret My Lips, and Time.
MISA hasn't worn the traditional Maid Uniform for a long time. She ditched it almost from the very beginning. And you named two of her biggest influences too. And Fami from LOVEBITES shreds. MISA tastefully rips your face off. The same for Kanami. Not that they can't shred. But BAND-MAID are not a Noodle Meister Showoff Band like LOVEBITES. I love that about them.
Thank you for your reaction and insightful comments (regarding attending a Band-Maid concert aka Okyu-Ji). I was at their Dallas Concert in 2022 and it was fantastic and a bit surreal after C-19 finally getting to attend. Everyone in line were like friends discussing their favorite facts of Band-Maid and after we were flying high off the concert. Next time they come to America I’m going - I want to experience that again!!!!!
I found Band Maid thanks to Blackpink, in 2017. The earlier version of "Puzzle" locked me into being a Maidiac. What fascinated me, and still does is Kanami plays lead all the way through. Also she doesn't shred, her solos are always in context of the song. Too many guitar solos have nothing to do with the song itself, it's just ego noise.
You have good taste. Mentioning Kim Deal is proof ❤. Misa is top tier and a favorite of mine. Kanami is more than a guitarist, she's a brilliant composer. Puzzle is an excellent song. When you have time, check out the live acoustic version
Puzzle is different - kind of soothing. I do not listen to it enough I can feel now. As it is so simplistic it might not be the best FIRST rection song though. Thats why we do not hear it so much. But you guys are already sold. Then you can listen to anything. Even this little delicate thing.

@@TJandTheGringa Actually i would give it a try. Its their latest mv on their channel, fully english lyrics and co-written by Mike Einziger of Incubus. Yes its a slower song, yes its more of a straightforward "more simple" song but its not boring at all imo. And Kanami has a pretty cool solo in there so that might be a good selling point to it :D
'Moving bass lines'. Misa works like a Trojan to hit every note cleanly (and I read in an interview only a couple years back that she never thinks she does! But then there's a Japanese proverb - "if perfection was obtainable it wouldn't be worth having"), the result is that seamless wall of bass underpinning every song (and she and Akane seem like they're telepathic). I'm not putting her above any of the band, but I'm a lifelong bass-head and I can't not zero in on her superb playing.

Great reaction as always from you two. You ought to take in the lyrics the next time you watch it. Saiki's manic singing is one with the lyrics, sung from the perspective of the "other woman" having an affair with a married man. Having (ahem) been in that situation myself, Miku's lyrics and Saiki's singing and Kanami's playing transport me back to those emotions like no book, movie, or other song has. I get choked up every time I hear the song. And as someone else mentioned, seek out the live acoustic version.

Konami played the piano before she learned guitar. So her guitar playing is not only technically sound but very melodic, her writing reflects that also. I say Konami technically has all the tricks of great guitar players, but with the sensibility of melody harmony and timing of a piano player. What she does in the background melodically you don't hear in other bands, and it;s amazing.

Puzzle is such a good song that it's in my top ten for Band-Maid songs twice! Once for normal an once again for the acoustic version.

Thank you for your wonderful comment. The performance skills of each instrument in BAND-MAID are world class. The chorus is also the best. KANAMI has been learning piano for over 20 years since she was 3 years old, and has composed over 130 songs. MIKU writes most of the lyrics. Surprisingly, there are no bad songs. Two things I really love about this performance, aside from the incredible music and musicianship, is Kanami’s solo (one of my favourites of hers) and the lighting. When they use the small spots to create an almost cage like effect is so cool. 😎

Great uniform @gringa! I'm happy to see the love. It's funny you brought up Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins becasue Misa has said she was inspired by them! I call Misa the Lead Bassist lol. She doesn't just keep doing the same thing over and over. She's playing a bass as if she's the lead guitar. But yet never in competition with it. They enhance each other! They are brilliant musicians. This is a song I can listen to over and over again and always find something new to listen too. That's like most of hteir songs though. They just have repeat playability. I don't know how many times I've watched reactions to some songs but never get tired of them. The album this is from, Just Bring It, is my favorite manily becasue it's has 4 of my top 10 songs. Puzzle, Moratorium, YOLO, Secret My Lips, and Time.

MISA hasn't worn the traditional Maid Uniform for a long time. She ditched it almost from the very beginning. And you named two of her biggest influences too. And Fami from LOVEBITES shreds. Thank you for your reaction and insightful comments (regarding attending a Band-Maid concert aka Okyu-Ji). I was at their Dallas Concert in 2022 and it was fantastic and a bit surreal after C-19 finally getting to attend. Everyone in line were like friends discussing their favorite facts of Band-Maid and after we were flying high off the concert. Next time they come to America I’m going - I want to experience that again!!!!!

I found Band Maid thanks to Blackpink, in 2017. The earlier version of "Puzzle" locked me into being a Maidiac.
What fascinated me, and still does is Kanami plays lead all the way through. Also she doesn't shred, her solos are always in context of the song. Too many guitar solos have nothing to do with the song itself, it's just ego noise.
You have good taste. Mentioning Kim Deal is proof ❤. Misa is top tier and a favorite of mine. Kanami is more than a guitarist, she's a brilliant composer. Puzzle is an excellent song. When you have time, check out the live acoustic version

Puzzle is different - kind of soothing. I do not listen to it enough I can feel now. As it is so simplistic it might not be the best FIRST rection song though. Thats why we do not hear it so much. But you guys are already sold. Then you can listen to anything. Even this little delicate thing.

Yes its a slower song, yes its more of a straightforward "more simple" song but its not boring at all imo. And Kanami has a pretty cool solo in there so that might be a good selling point to it :D

'Moving bass lines'. Misa works like a Trojan to hit every note cleanly (and I read in an interview only a couple years back that she never thinks she does! But then there's a Japanese proverb - "if perfection was obtainable it wouldn't be worth having"), the result is that seamless wall of bass underpinning every song (and she and Akane seem like they're telepathic). I'm not putting her above any of the band, but I'm a lifelong bass-head and I can't not zero in on her superb playing.

Great reaction as always from you two. You ought to take in the lyrics the next time you watch it. Saiki's manic singing is one with the lyrics, sung from the perspective of the "other woman" having an affair with a married man. Having (ahem) been in that situation myself, Miku's lyrics and Saiki's singing and Kanami's playing transport me back to those emotions like no book, movie, or other song has. I get choked up every time I hear the song. And as someone else mentioned, seek out the live acoustic version.

Konami played the piano before she learned guitar. So her guitar playing is not only technically sound but very melodic, her writing reflects that also. I say Konami technically has all the tricks of great guitar players, but with the sensibility of melody harmony and timing of a piano player. What she does in the background melodically you don't hear in other bands, and it;s amazing.
