- Never one to leave an adventure bike stock, I've spent the last six months adding a ton of Tenere 700 mods to my 2022 Yamaha T7. I finally feel like I'm coming to the end of my Yamaha Tenere 700 mods list, so I thought it was good time to share what mods I've added to the bike so far and talk a little bit about how each of these Yamaha Tenere 700 modifications have been working out so far.
One of the most important mods is my Tenere 700 tires, and I'm in love with the performance of my Tusk D-Sport front and Motoz Tractionator RallZ on the rear. I've got a ton of awesome Tenere 700 parts from great companies like Touratech, Giant Loop, Seat Concepts, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, Moto Machines, and A to Z Composites, and thanks to their help, I've put together what I think is a pretty sweet Tenere 700 build.

I heard that a chain guide is a must as if it comes lose it can crack a hole in the engine and swing arm guards because of the way the exhaust pipe routes next to it.
Ha I'm listening to you in the background adding some accessories to my T7 while I'm using TV mount spacers . Thought I was the only one 😂
Definitely go with the high fender kit, just did a quick google search and it looks awesome.
I just got my Tenere last week. I’ll be referencing your video a lot, thank you!
Just a couple of mods. Including a TV mount kit. 👍🤣 Resourceful. Thanks for sharing. I have used the quad locks for years without the damper and now the wireless charger. I never had an issue. JP1970 put one on his bike and wrecked his phone the first day.
The pannier rack in the back looks as wide as a Peterbuilt, it’s not a problem on trails? Guess I’m not ready to give up my KLR milkcrate yet. Hopefully there is nice top rack that will work in conjunction with the SC seat.
Cool video! Great mods. I happen to like the stock seat but to each his own. The windshield is something I've never seen and I probably need to get one. Not sure about the luggage racks with the massive soft luggage. It's amazing how far it sticks out. But 50 L per side is a lot of square footage! I've been running the stock fender for 11,000 Mi and have never had anything get stuck in there. I do have it adjusted in the higher position. Your bike is definitely a showpiece now. Thanks for sharing
I've heard the stock seat breaks in and gets better. I didn't keep it long enough to find out.
Wheres the link to that windscreen one handed slider thingy?
Damn, I love the T-7. Thanks for the ideas.
I just put my first MotoZ tire (Tractinator Adventure) on the 1290 SAR in the rear and a Dunlop Trail Max in the front. I run a lot of highway so I needed some longevity. Riding it home I didn't notice either being too loud and I'm sure they'll be better for my riding than the TKC80's that were on it.
I still see a T-7 in my future but I'll run the SAR for a bit.
I picked up a Diablo in gray after this video.
Couldn’t pass it up at the sale price.
This is my unicorn adv bike. Someday it will be mine.
Great Scott! Aftermarket parts are pricey! Ima have to prioritize for sure! Crash guards, skid plate, hand guards, radiator guards. Then probably panier and tail mounts, then bags/cases, then electronic mounts and peg mods. Then maybe replace the tires.
OY! This is going to take a year or two, just for the mods!
An anti-glare screen protector is a MUST for the Zumo XT. It’s a game changer.
I haven't had much of a problem with it personally, but I can see the appeal.
You mentioned the rear brake feels 'vague', the new Camel ADV rear brake "fix" gives it a much better feel (closer to a dual sport/dirt bike). Highly recommend.
I've heard good things about that upgrade.
@@DorkintheRoad I've had it on my T7 for a few weeks, it's fantastic
Looking forward to seeing the high fender kit even though I don't own a T7. I own 2 KLX300s, based on your recommendations I bought 2 Seat Concepts Seats, 2 GL fender racks, a GL Rogue bag, 2 Pronghorn straps (so much more GL stuff I want but funds not available for now) a Garmin Zumo XT, and because of a previous video review I also bought D606 rear Perrelli MT21 front, and some Icon rain gear.
Also would add a steering damper if going to tackle heavy duty rots/trails
Hey there my internet riding buddy! I have owned my t7 for almost 2 years now and I have to say I still like it just as much as the first day I bought it. I would highly recommend the tusk rear rack that has allowed me to Mount quite a few things to the bike safely. I have also purchased a high fender kit I decided to go alt Rider as I like their look and it has a vent for the high-speed travel. Not sure if it works or not as I haven't mounted it. I think you should just go ahead and put the high fender on. That would be a great product review video for you to make in the future. Another mod that I did that I highly recommend is the Scotts steering stabilizer. That thing has saved me from a few falls off road and also has made me feel more comfortable at higher speeds off road. One other mod that I did that I highly recommend if you are tall as I am 6 ft is the pro taper adventure bars. Now when I stand up I am not all hunched over and it feels way more natural.
If you can get your buddy to make those pegs with a lowering kit that would be great I'm trying to find a foot peg lowering kit. Oh yeah and one last mod that I did that was a game changer is the Atlas throttle locker I have to admit it made my life so much better on those long hauls.
High fender always✌ no matter what the internet says...err wait we are on the internet 😭
It needs for me to take it for a ride!
I would say if you haven't had trouble with the stock front fender yet, don't change it
Yes I have one on mine.. it's not as bad s people say..especially if your used to riding dual sports and klr650s. In my opinion it makes the tenere look better..installing it is easy
That's good to hear.
@@DorkintheRoad I went with black..it ties into the color scheme really well..looking forward to seeing your bike with installed
Good bikes that need mods to be really good. Suspension is soft, pretty tall, range is only about 330kms, welded exhaust hanger, no heated grips, no cruise, limited wind protection. However they handle great, are simple, reliable, more dirt orientated and cheaper than ktm. I know two guys who love theirs but modded them up.
@@AT2021Rocker nothing wrong with the suspension...if you adjust it right..unless you 300 lb guy then no matter what bike you get will need suspension upgrades
Sweet bike! Great mods!
Definitely go High Fender!!
It'll look so cool!
I have footage for the same video from my T7, but l still haven’t edited the video and uploaded. A full time job keeps me from spending much time editing.
My buddy mounted a high fender on his Africa twin and at high speeds he said it would shake all over the place which he could feel through the bars. He switched it back. Key point need a sturdy, maybe even shorter…one? Also just got my tenere same color lovin it
I have 10k miles on my T7 with a tusk high fender kit and I ride it like a freakin hooligan on a gsxr. I’ve never once felt the front fender catch the wind anywhere from 0 to 115mph. I personally love the look of the high fender, but I wouldn’t stand behind any realistic and day saving benefits other than aesthetic preference.
Hey man your videos are Awesome!! Didn’t know you were a Sweet Home native!! Haha if you’re ever riding through this area again and looking for a tag along I’d be super interested to ride I got an Africa twin and a 250L
Thanks for another great vid! If you had to part with the T7 or Norden 901 tomorrow, which one would go and why?
Excellent!
Regarding the high fender kit, have you had any issue with the factory one jamming the wheel? So long as you’ve got the tools to pop off the fender it sounds like it’s not worth it (not taking in the aesthetic cool factor of the high fender into account). It’s your bike at the end of the day. Do what makes you happy, man.
Hi, Maybe you could do a video on high or low front fender because 2 years ago the front LOW was all the rage and everyone got their low stabilizers for it. So maybe do a semi deep dive on a few types of bikes that did it starting with KLR , Norden and t700.... thx for vids... I see you have stepped up your pace!
I wasn't happy with the channel's performance the last few months, so I'm trying to get a few more videos out ;)
Thanks for good info.
I still debating on which skid plate to get.
I’m probably going to get a taller windscreen. Maybe.
Natural question seems to be, what problems have you experienced with the stock front fender that would lead you to replace it? If none= leave it. If major= replace it. If minor= user choice.
AFAIK vibration is only a problem for iPhones. Those of us with Android can skip the vibration damper.
I think the bike looks better with the low fender. Also, have you resprung the bike yet? You need the rally raid 95nm spring in the rear and at least a preload space up front.
I haven't yet but if I keep it long term I most likely will.
I installed the high fender on my t7 with a full-size yz250 acerbic fender. I have noticed no changes in handling when I get on the highway.
Get a chain guide. Ive seen these throw the chain and bust engine case
I’d add the water pump cover
You ever going to get the camel ADV exhaust pipe to fix that mufflers location?
Great video. Unrelated to the mods, but what kind of range/mpg are you seeing loaded down with the Tenere?
Is the bike for sale yet? If so, can you ship it to New Orleans...?
Thnx
High fender FTMFW
Still has the cat
. If you go cat. Delete you can get a better taller skid plate. Also loose about 8lbs that stock exhaust
What about Africa Twin 1100 adventure sport vs Yamaha Tenere 700 world raid?
You probably do more mud than the average, but if its not locking up the front because of mud under the fender I wouldn't change it. I don't care for the high fender's performance at higher highway speeds, it doesn't look any better, and it doesn't help for the resale value in my opinion. Do you know how much it weighs?
Making me miss mine. On the high fender, noooooo. They look so ugly. IMHO
T7 needs one more thing…. Camel ADV anti-bobble head mod.
Low fender all the way.
Stock fender high position.
That's how I have it set up right now ;)
Is it just me or can Doubletake mirrors be easily stolen???
Can you run tubes in the motoz RALLZ tubeless?
I might be blind. I cant find the link to the touratech adjustable windscreen. Can you please help with that?
Hi dork! I tried to purchase a couple things off of giant loop and it wouldn’t apply the discount code? Any insight would be appreciated! Maybe I’ll call their customer service in the am thank you!
Any thoughts on center stands?
VERY handy for basic maintenance and trailside tire changes. I need to get one on this bike.
Yamaha should just build a t7 supermoto.
when will someone do a serious long term review on a stock motorcycle. We spend huge dollars to purchase a bike and are told that without another couple grand in extras, the bike cant be ridden. I have a completely stock 790 adventure bike and have put over 16k miles doing long adventure/BDR type rides without any issues about seat, pegs, bars, risers etc. How about one for the average bike owner that has no extra money after dropping the bucks on a very expensive bike.
The bike will do everything you want it to stock as far as normal ADV riding goes. What I mean by that is dirt / gravel hard pack and paved roads. To me personally the stock seat sucks and the wind buffeting gets obnoxious when touring on pavement. When you get into more intense off road and single track riding the farkles and suspension upgrades become more necessary.
Dec 2023, A to Z Composites linked to 404 error, then promo code was invalid, so I didn't buy.
🏍️🇯🇵👍👍🎥👍
Good looking rig, but that rear rack right hand side is absolutely hideous looking. Sticks out so far, after that 50some liter pannier is filled it has to catch wind funny on the highway. Glad im a minimalist, couldnt imagine wrestling with all that nonsense
High fender = NO.
Cuz, you gonna clog up yo radiator and burn that engine.
