    One thing I like to do when welding a bung, or any threaded insert is to coat the threads in nozzle gel, or to coat a bolt in gel and insert it. The gel keeps your threads from getting damaged from splatter and the bolt helps keep the threads stable when welding. The gel keeps the bolt from getting cooked in.

    I appreciate the details in the assembly of this part. Managing heat is essential as I have found out through experience. I Mig, so a project like this will take time. Great fab tips. Thank you

    Love your work man, but I have to ask, why didn’t you add a rosette/plug weld to the bung? A lot of people I know that don’t take that step, end up breaking the weld at the tube.
    Also, if I were a guessing man, I’d say Ryan’s truck is going to be looking a lot different.

    Hey guys nice video!! Quick question about the frame mounts. I noticed the one not welded you had the 90° bend hanging over the edge of the table. I’m assuming that to wrap around the frame rail on the truck. But on the one you already welded the 90° bend is facing up on the same side you welded the mount on. That gonna interfere with the frame mounting?

    • @WingsWorldChannel
      @WingsWorldChannel  4 года назад +2

      The frame that these mounts are going on is a C channel frame rail. One upper and lower link mount goes on the outside of the frame and the other goes on the inside

    A true pimp cuts some kerfs in the side plates so the internal webs can be welded from the outside.

    Do you think you can weld it on mig with gas? Or do you think it will warp it too much?

  • @boydco6587
    @boydco6587 4 года назад +1

    Is the top plate flate? If so it appears that the lower shock mounts aren't below the centerline between the rod end and bushing centerline so the link doesn't try to wobble?

    • @WingsWorldChannel
      @WingsWorldChannel  4 года назад

      Correct, the shock mounts are above centerline of the links. That is why the front pivot is a bushing instead of a uniball, the bushing will keep it from rolling from side to side. Its just another way of going about things

    • @boydco6587
      @boydco6587 4 года назад +2

      @@WingsWorldChannel i have been through this.....the front bushing will wear very quickly and if things get too sloppy you could possibly bend a shock shaft. Im suprised Giant would sell them this way...it wouldnt have taken much change to make them correct. Great welds though ;)

  • @tylerklassen9770

    Silicon bronze is brazing and weak. If you clamp the weld spot to a plate of aluminum it will pull all the heat that would warp it out..
