- Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! This time we take a look at what appears to be massive gains in PS4 emulation. Bloodborne has remained locked to consoles for over a decade with no update in sight and yesterday massive strides were taken to get the game running on PC and while their is still a ways to go, this is quite impressive none the less. Its because sony and from co-own it. They would only get half the profits. So why bother spending thousands of dev hours for a game where u get 50% profits, when u can instead do it for a game that gets 100%? Also, bloodborne wasnt that popular. God of war, horizon zero dawn etc. are much more popular games. Bloodborne doesnt have a mimic tear and op weapons to carry u through the game like elden ring does. Its a niche soul game. Not only it wont sell as well as the games sony is porting to pc, but they also have to split the profit with from. Its easy to see why sony wont port it.
@@kerkertrandov459 I mean, I largely agree with this, but a port to PC wouldn't be nearly as much work as it would to make an entirely new game and would still generate large profit given that Elden ring helped generate hype for the souls genre as a whole and left many wanting to play bloodborne but being unable to due to console restrictions, 30fps, or just other issues. The game runs rather well on playstation with 60fps mods and whilst it has some issues, the cost to solve them would be rather minimal in the grand scheme of things in order to get it functioning on PC. It may need a few reworks in regards to its engine to keep physics, game speed, and i-frames consistent but having the models, voice acting, storybuilding, and sharing the same engine as DS3 and Elden Ring would definitely help with both its portability, and well as profitability.

Yeah the progress is mutch faster than I expected. Seems like emulation as a whole has been progressing really fast in recent years.
How is Tht exactly massive, it quite literally will take years for this game to even run at 30 fps (if lucky) on a rtx 6090.

@@architdewan6717 There's no point explaining it to people who haven't been using emulators for a long time but i'll try anyways.
The PlayStation 4 is a modern system that's much closer to a PC in terms of architecture, the reason why old emulators are easier to make is because the systems you were emulating were much simpler and you didn't need an insane amount of research and experience to understand them.
The PS3 Onwards, Hardware has just become massively complicated, and it's become extremely difficult to emulate modern systems. We saw this with the RPCS3 emulator for a long time where it was pretty much discarded as unusable but now sits as the only good PS3 emulator on the market, capable of running almost any game you throw at it.
It's not impressive when you take it at face value, "It's just the character creator", but once you realize how much work goes on behind this stuff, how insanely complicated this is, and how a lot of people are doing this voluntarily, it slowly starts to add up why this is an insane achievement for gaming as a whole.
They managed to boot into the Character creator, there will come a time when the character creator would actually start to function, and there will come a time when they actually boot into the starting area of the game, slowly but surely, if development continues, PS4 emulation will only get better. And even if this particular emulator gets shelved, others will be able to look at it's code for inspiration and get a massive boost. Eventually, PS4 emulation will be perfected.

@@brawssThe thing with Spiderman 2 and Wolverine was, there was a huge, over 1TB leak at Insomanic,which allowed them to build SM2 and parts of Wolverine. I don't think it's possible to just rip a PS4 CD and port it willy nilly to a PC

My massive PS4 physical library is gonna be living in heaven when a PS4 emulator becomes as available as Xenia is.
Miyazaki is ok with a port of bloodborne on ps5 and pc, everyone else wants a port of bloodborne on pc and ps5. Why is Sony holding back? It's actually making me super mad like give the ps5 at least *ONE* worthwhile game 💀

ngl a Remake or "Next-Gen" Remaster will earn a hella ton of cash, being sponsored by NVIDIA and peopel grabbing the game on PS5 and PC. its a win-win for both sides. crazy they didn't.
some are suggesting theyre holding back for a blue point remake on ps6, but i dont buy that, that would upset a lot of people, especially people who bought PS5 who still don't have much in the way of new exclusive games. They could've held this same mantra for some other games that made it to PC but didnt. Personally i think Sony has a chip on their shoulder because it was made not just by from but by Sony Interactive Studios, which got shutdown, the very uh "modern" sony doesnt see that as part of their brand image.
I suspect that the original source code is gone and it takes too much effort to redo it from scratch
Bloodborne isn't on PC for money reasons. It's not hard to assume that if it's kept on PlayStation they'll drive sells to that system even if it's a last gen/old gen game.

bloodborne is the game that got me into the souls game, and its the first and only game i Platnum trophy-ed. 10/10 I have 500hrs in the game and still to this day i love every step of it.

What amazing news. I just watched your old bloodborne/pc video a few weeks ago and I had a sudden urge to play the game starting from a month or so ago and this is great to hear.

Soul Sacrifice is another Japan Studio gem left to rot. That game's storyline, music, and lore are so masterfully done and it breaks my heart nothing will ever be done with it again.
Man I want Bloodborne on PC so bad. You could make a Rogue-like mod with the chalice dungeons where you spelunk, when you get low on vials you leave and get out the currency and resources you get out, level your character, buy blood vials, buy upgrade materials and head back down.

I have always wanted BB on Pc for this exacty reason. Imagine a roguelike mod for chalice dungeons... It would fix one of the only flaws of this game

honestly the fact that Muta mentioned gravity rush is crazy, it brain blasted that game back into my mind. I remember getting like 15 hours into it but my psplus free game pass thing ran out so I never finished it, being able to play it without having to start up the jet engine that is my og 2013 ps4 would be pretty cool

Incredible progress being made in PS4 emulation and exciting to see Bloodborne running in any capacity. The barriers are beginning to crumble. It'll take time, but we'll be playing our favorite PS4 games on PC at some point.

Bloodborne is what's called a "system seller". It is one of those games made exclusive in order to sell hardware. People but consoles to play Bloodborne, then hang around to see what else is on offer.

My first Soulsborne game was Elden Ring and I loved it. Next on my list was Bloodborne, but since I didn't have a PS4, I played Sekiro and loved it as well. After some time I played the entire DarkSouls trilogy and had a blast. All that is left for is Bloodborne, and I'm honestly pissed how stupid Sony is being by just sitting on the rights to it.

Bloodborne was a system seller it isn't rn because if they really wanted it to be face of system they'd provide improvement in PS5 or release a PS5 version. Bloodborne was system seller for PS4. For PS5 it's God of war or demon's souls but it's still available on PS4 so only demon's souls remake should be considered a exclusive that is acting as system seller for PS5 rn.

Can't wait for PS4 emulation to mature, RPCS3 is one of my absolute favorite emulators, I downloaded and set it up and threw persona 5 on it just to test it out, ended up playing it to the end all 140 hours in 4K, it was awesome.

I have not played Bloodborne or any Soulsborne games. Just watching it for Mutahar and watching how emulation progressed so far.
I know it’s very different, but I remember Super Mario Odyssey running like that One Piece game, and like a month or two later it was running slowly but otherwise flawlessly. Everything was rendering properly, and it was only weeks after that before it ran at full speed with only minimal common emulation hiccups. It really depends on how complicated emulating a given system is and how many hands are on deck, but breakthroughs like this could be followed by ‘playable’ builds within a year easily if there are enough qualified people working consistently on it.
Bloodborne was my favorite PS4 game. In many ways, it may have been my favorite game of the 8th gen (yeah maybe even better than Zelda Breath of the Wild).
Its atmosphere and style is unmatched

sure im not the first to say this but theres a mod for Eldenring called Graceborne its takes ER world but with added assets but with BB combat and its very true to it, it has its own uinque weapons its pretty much its own game tbh highly recomend checking it out Asmon has a vidoe on it as well.

Hey I'm about to email Sony, asking them to make a Bloodborne 2, and ask them if they give Miyazaki the greenlight, also give him the idea that if he intends to make it a prequel, Gerhman should be the playable character, like no create your own character, or you can create your character and this time Gerhman is like around every corner as a npc, like helps and all, he's young and stuff.
If he does go the rout of making Gerhman the main playable character, then he should integrate skills like in Sekiro, yeah

I maxed out my bloodborne character by using that dungeon that gives you the holy grail of echoes. This really is one of the most brilliant games I ever played. I hope one day I can play it on pc

Bloodborne is the only Souls like game I'm interested in. I HATED Dark Souls 1 for PC, then again it could've been the port. I didn't care for The Surge or Code Vein.

I do miss playing Tenchu Z on xbox 360. It's emulated but with some graphics issues. And I would like to replay Dungeons n Dragons Heroes on xbox original again.

Did you not like the remake of demon souls? It's fairly faithful minus some lightning changes in the tower knight fight.and few other things.

I still have never read or heard of any good explanations given as to why they don't just port the damn thing to PC already. It came out 9 years ago and the system it was made for isn't even sold anymore and most people playing it on PS5 are doing so to play with the 60fps patch (like me). They could sell the damn thing at full price with all DLC on it on Steam and I guarantee it would beat Black Myth Wukong in a flash. Btw its almost 100% confirmed they aren't working on a PC port, there was a huge leak of several games that weren't even known to be in development including ports and remakes and Bloodborne wasn't in that list.
Games companies get tax related benefits by holding onto IPs that do not generate revenue
