    I actually love the jubilee better - it hides scratches way easier and actually it’s more comfortable. It’s a great move from Rolex to make the GMT more unique and different then a submariner for example.
    The new movement is a plus adder 👌🏻

    I’m going to say the jubilee actually looks nice. Though the oyster on my Blnr I’ve come to love. Hate the scratches that show up but then it’s still classy.

  • @mrced709

    In my humble opinion, I think the new Batman on Jubilee is beautiful! From the moment I saw its launch at Baselworld, I loved it.
    You mentioned that the Black and Blue makes the watch “sporty” which doesn’t go so well with the sophisticated look of the jubilee bracelet. I disagree. I think the black and blue on the jubilee does give it a more sophisticated/dressier look, but it’s not a misfit.
    Perhaps this just boils down to preference. Then again, what do I know??? I’m no expert.

    It seems clear now that Rolex are going to make the GMTs stand out from the Subs by changing the bracelet to jubilee. That way to make it stand out from both the explorer, subs and Daytona’s .

    Regardless of looks, the new movement has ceramic bearings on the rotor as well as longer power reserve. The new movement is a bigger deal than you think.

  • @TheRunningManZ
    @TheRunningManZ 5 лет назад +10

    I think the jubilee looks really nice on the GMT. I went for Oyster on my DJ41, because I wanted to make it look a little sportier, its a much more dressy watch. But the GMT looks sporty on either bracelet, the jubilee doesnt make it look too dressy or anything. I think I prefer it this way. Those polished links on the Oyster are a nightmare scratch wise, i think it makes a lot of sense to have this watch on the jubilee. Not least because it sets a little more apart from the Exp2 and the Sub by not having the same type of bracelet (albeit polished more on the old Oyster). I think the Batman looks great either way but Id choose the Jubliee version if possible myself, and I def wouldnt pay a premium for a Batman 1 with the Oyster, to me it makes no sense.

    I don’t see why a simple bracelet change is seen as the end of the world by some folks. Yes, I too prefer the oyster bracelet, but I also think the new caliber 3238 represents an upgrade that keeps Rolex sports models on the cutting edge of mechanical watch technology. I’d have no problem wearing this new watch, although I did decide against selling my 116610LN Sub just to get one. I should also mention that I recently purchased a Datejust 41 (Rolesor) and chose it with an oyster bracelet.

    • @timur9429
      @timur9429 5 лет назад +2

      David you know whats funny.. I collect the 4 Digit Models and its funny to see how the bracelets shifted from Datejust to GMT and the other way around. So to see more and more Datejusts on Oysters and GMTs on Jubilees is very different for me.

    • @SenszR
      @SenszR 5 лет назад +1

      I don’t think Rolex sports models are cutting edge at all in the modern day. Rolex clearly don’t care about that anymore hence why they are putting jubilee bands on GMTs.

      So I am a blue collar worker, I’m a maintenance mechanic for a distribution company and work on their equipment. Well, I like mechanical watches. You have no idea how many times I’ve broken a seiko. I bought a submariner a couple years ago and it hasn’t given me some single problem. It doesn’t stop due to shock, it doesn’t run fast due to magnets, it runs within its 2 sec a day, being ceramic and sapphire the only thing showing any scuffs is the stainless. It’s been a fantastic watch, I absolutely love it. I wouldn’t want an aluminum bezel. I also love the bracelet and it’s quick adjustment. So I dunno if it’s “bling” it’s just a really really well built watch that day after day still looks nice and is very satisfying to own.

    Jubilee and two-tone bezel seems to be the new norm to define modern GMT stainless steel line these days.. No more confusion between GMT and submariner. I suspect that the days of a blk/blk/blk (LN) are forever behind, as it is also clear that 2 tone bezel were more loved. But the LN was also the 50th anniversary GMT with it's GMT green hand and green line, and in time it will probably sell for the same, if not more, than the much loved BLNR mk1 (on oyster), which is a beautiful watch; and now has become an instant "classic". I for one, like the BLNR on the jubilee as a concept Rolex is adopting, even though the original BLNR is the one we are all more used to see, and tend to love more for that very reason. Good video!

    I'm the rare Batman Mk1 owner who's not thrilled with this. I bought my Batman in October/November and I bought it to be my daily wear watch. I expected that in 30 years it might be a 20k+ watch, I didn't really expect it to become one 18-24mos after buying it. I'm not going to be super comfortable with it as daily wear if it keeps climbing. I may try and get my hands on a Pepsi and if the Pepsi keeps falling and the Batman keeps climbing I may end up in the odd position of feeling more comfortable wearing a Pepsi day to day (assuming I can get one anytime soon) than the Batman. Who could've imagined that being the case 11 months ago?

    Jubilee on the blnr Batman aka batgirl is the way to go. On oyster it looks too much like a sub and doesn’t pop - kinda boring to be. Omega.
    Once you try it on jubilee you will understand. It is much more comfortable and doesn’t scratch like oyster pcl and way more stylish. Oysters for sub and Daytona, jubilee for GMT 100%.

  • @clarkgavinst
    @clarkgavinst 5 лет назад +1

    Very nice video thank you. Personally, I think the Jubilee works appropriately with the GMT Master 2. May we remind ourselves that Rolex don't make sports watches, they make professional watches! Professional tool watches like the SD43, Subs, Deepsea's etc work better with the full on Oystersteel bracelet's. Bearing in mind that the Rolex 126710BLNR GMT is basically a Pilots watch, so a Jubilee bracelet really suits it, its gives the watch a nice presence on the wrist, ideal for a dressier pilots piece.

  • @wheelsandwatches

    Hi Adrian, almost hitting the 41k subs, well done.
    As always people will look for discontinued SS models with Rolex, the Batman is not an exception. This, in my opinion, is why the price of the Batman is getting dearer, not because people prefer the Oyster.
    GMT were historically sold with the Jubilee and , as you know, Rolex keeps tradition going.
    The Jub is much more comfortable than the Oyster, it catches the light differently and will hide scratches much better than the Oyster.

    Hypothetically what’s the least you would accept for your Batman? I’m considering selling mine. As the price goes up the more I feel like I need to baby it and the less I want to wear it. Should I free up the cash? Or just sit smug knowing I’ve got a hot watch that I love?
    Ps I have a back sub date anyway

    Is the new case not meant to be a bit slimmer? Was it not noticeably so?

    Adrian I think you're spot on. The jubilee on the batman just looks off. I have a similar view about the Pepsi with a jubilee but to a lesser extent. I think the shade of blue they use is too sporty for such a refined bracelet. The red in the coke is a classy enough color to hold up to the bold look of the jubilee. Anyways, appreciate the hard work for this channel. Keep it up mate!

    I love the Batman on jubilee! Love the Rolex Jubilee in the modern bigger case watches (GMTs and Datejust 41s). The look is clean and classy and can go anywhere.

    I’m not one to speculate on price. If one is lucky to have one already, especially at retail, keep it and wear it and most of all, enjoy it. I agree Adrian, the jubilee bracelet is lacking for me.

    Hey Adrian,
    I was happy to see you at Baselworld. Although it's watch enthusiast heaven it does seem stressful if you're there for business. I enjoyed your coverage.
    Best regards,

    Dude let me just start by saying I love your channel and your journey.
    I’m only a humble vintage ex ii owner not a Batman gmt owner. But I love the new jubilee. Perhaps there’s a slight generational schism, I associate a jubilee with sports Rolex. I associate it with 60s 70s aviation sport models, whose mixture of submariner oyster case with gmt functionality took the case from ocean to air. The oyster is wonderful and sort of masculine while the jubilee is the same but slightly older...
    Anyway it’s all just fun and different tastes.
    Keep up the great work.

    Batman on jubilee looks great, I don’t think the oyster Batman will be going for the massive premiums people are trying to charge right now in a year.

    • @karlomcastro
      @karlomcastro 5 лет назад

      That's the logical thing... the older 116710BLNR should be dropping back near to it's original retail price with the newer 126710BLNR going way over list. However, the reverse is happening. The older Batman keeps going up in value. Does it make sense? Probably not but the unfulfilled demand is/was just too high and being a discontinued model, it will only get harder and harder to get. Same thing happened with the discontinued Kermit... sells for a lot more compared to the Hulk. Cheers!

    • @justinh1258
      @justinh1258 5 лет назад

      karlo castro True, with the exception of it being truly discontinued. Sure the reference number is discontinued, but the blue and black GMT is still available and being made from Rolex with a better movement and different bracelet. The oyster Batman won’t go for as much as the jubilee eventually, these damn flippers are just doing what they do and using any excuse to try and screw people out of more money, even though the excuse for the premium should only be “supply and demand” vs it being discontinued.

    • @karlomcastro
      @karlomcastro 5 лет назад

      @@justinh1258, it will be interesting to see how much these two "batman" references are selling 2 or 3 years from now. Surely both will be hard to get at retail (or at least close to it) for mere mortals. What I'm really looking forward with Rolex is an updated (and hopefully not just the new 3235) Sub line! It's way overdue imho. It's great interacting with a fellow watch fan. Cheers!

    • @justinh1258
      @justinh1258 5 лет назад +1

      karlo castro Yeah, there will definitely be premiums but I have a feeling the oyster Batman is wayyy overhyped right now and a poor buy. There will be some people getting burned for sure, wait till next year for one is my opinion. The sub will get the new movement within the next few years, but I absolutely love the 3135 and it’s just such a reliable and proven movement.

    Oyster on Batman all day, maybe Jubilee on Datejust but I still prefer the Oyster. Watch Rolex offer it next year so folks jump on the new movement with the Oyster. I’m looking to add another Rolex to my collection but want a proper dress watch first, looking at JLC ultra thin. Also looking at Oris 65 or Tudor BB58...any thoughts?

      Mike C thanks for finding the channel. I started an instagram account about 7 years ago with a mate. My last name is Barker, his was Jackson. So we called it Barker and Jackson. It died off and I started using it and just called it Bark and Jack. Not a great story really. Haha.
