Can i just say that this video is better than any video the ppa channel has put out. Quality 10/10 Sound 10/10 Angle 10/10 Keep up the great work and F the PPA for releasing BS content.
Thank you SO much for this feedback! You may like the videos I am working on now then bc it’s high level pickleball with a 6.3 DUPR commentator who is also hilarious. Stay tuned 👀
Blonde guy near us... serves were so high! Seemed above his waist. But he also had the slowest serve so it wasn't even an advantage lol. This was a great game. Can't believe this is only 5.5.
@@Ferg_Sports I worked with the venue, sponsor, and players and got a few companies to pitch in some free samples for the crowd (shoutout Nature’s Willow!). Hoping to get a livestream and commentator for the next version!
Great match, thanks for sharing. Though the star of the show was the guy in the red hoodie who literally ate from the 9ish minute mark and was still really chowing down when the match ended.
It doesn't look like a double bounce from this angle but the ref is viewing it from half the distance and at a much better angle. It is interesting that the other ref had no reaction. If the ball hit the ground twice, he scraped it up off the court with his paddle.
My partner and I are both using the CRUSH freestyle (highly recommend and you can get 15% savings with “KD15”) and our opponents are using Joola Perseus and Engage MX pursuit pro 6.0 or whatever the popular one is!
@@KevinDongPickleball what do you like most about it over other paddles per say DBD and I am using the Edge 18k Pro Power with how I saw yall playing with them they seem great
@@alecmarshall3345 my opinion on Crush is that the freestyle paddle maximizes pop and power without sacrificing control. So I can reset, scrap, defend all day long, but I can also hit a solid drive from the baseline or poppy counters at the kitchen which is very needed based on where the game is heading. It won’t be the hottest paddle (like the engage pursuit or gearbox paddles), but it is the best pop to control ratio that I have found
I think it’s close but legal! The camera angle being above our heads looking down makes it look worse than it is! He’s never been called for it in tournaments
Why does it seem like in any sport if the call is close, the refs always get it wrong? The ref calling a double bounce at 8:02 is wild - An awesome get completely erased...it's almost like they need to justify their job so they have to somehow insert themselves into the game. As an athlete that has to be so frustrating.
Agreed! But I will say it has to be so difficult to be a pickleball ref. There is so much to watch all at once! That’s why I hired 2 refs for this event but it’s still tough lol
I was wondering the same thing -- because there always is. This was a great high level pickleball match -- apparently even the trolls couldn't deny that!
Great video, but it doesn’t seem like 5.5 to me.. still fun to watch, but I’ve seen way better players in other RUclips Pickleball games. They’re still way better than me ha ha
Ha this was 7 months ago at this point. The standard for 5.5 has definitely been raised! And our levels have gone up as well too. Will try to put more recent footage out soon! I publish shorts daily but long form takes me a lot longer 😅
This wouldn't even be considered high level at my locals... I just... can't believe that this is what is considered "professional" pickleball. The ball control and court awareness just aren't there. The team that won was clearly the better team, but even they made so many simple mistakes. Maybe they were tired or in their nerves... I don't know. Still, great video!
I think that’s the goal, pickleball is a game to be won in the rally. It’s better this way, if you look at a sport like spikeball, it has the opposite problem.
From this match they didn't seem to vary the serve much, but there is definitely room for creativity. Short ones, long ones, wide or up the middle, and with spin can be done.
I barely even watched a minute and everyone is obviously 5.5+. The point at :45 seconds is all you need to see… show me a lower ranked match where a point like that happens…
I know right? I watch pro tennis and the game always ends tied because they don’t even make any errors! It’s amazing Edit: I just watched some Olympic table tennis and just the same issue. No one messes up! Tie games all around

I about to say the same thing man even the player I think is better than a PPa
great match to watch and an amazing put together video 10/10. Keep up the good work!
Way too kind! Will put together more vids in the future! Already planning the next event for March 2!

Really fun match to watch!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great match, fun to watch.
Thanks!
From the get go this game was absolute🔥
Thanks! I’ll try to post more from these showdowns!
High Quality Game. Well played lads
Thanks!
These guys are excellent
Wonderful video!
Thanks a ton! A lot of work went into organizing this event and playing in front of the crowd was a blast but also stressful lol

Nice W for team crush! Let's see the womens and mixed matches!
Tbd on those matches! I WISH I could post the women’s match bc it was so high level but the footage didn’t save!
this is super weak..Can't play a real sport.@@KevinDongPickleball
@@KevinDongPickleballhope to see them if possible. But loved this match! Congratulations on the win! Did you win the tournament?
Hey does anyone know which Joola paddle the pro with the black shirt no hat with the white wristband is using?
Insane second point
where is this place located?
That dude's 2 handed backhand is wicked! Great playing
Yeah Phil’s got a nice one! It does a lot of damage to opponents!

Did not even notice that 😂
Very nice playing.
Thanks!
The bigger guy (guy without the hat) in the losing team commited lots of errors.
Hands. For. Days. 🔥
8:00 That was not a double bounce. If you slow it down you can clearly see it only bounced once.
I know 😢 but honestly it’s so hard being a pickleball ref so gotta cut them some slack
@@KevinDongPickleballTrue. It just happened to me in a tournament and then the footage showed it didn’t double bounce so I got annoyed lol.

If the ball hit the ground twice, he scraped it up off the court with his paddle.
Wow! Initially, the near team could not adjust to your undercut returns. Well played on both sides.
Thanks! Was a good matchup!

hey kevin, which paddle were you using specifically?
CRUSH Freestyle 16mm! You can use KD15 to save 15% if you decide to get one

Opponents serve with the Joola definitely looked illegal. Tossed the ball up often and hit above waist… nice win though! High level play for sure.
I think it’s close but legal! The camera angle being above our heads looking down makes it look worse than it is! He’s never been called for it in tournaments
5:10 his foot was on line when he slammed the ball
Nah it was clean! Ref would have called it if it was on the line

Whining about it doesn’t help players
Asians are going to dominate this game once it gets popular in Asia.
Why do you keep switching the score position?
It’s always from the perspective of the serving team!
there's no double bounce in the 8:02, what a joke hahahaa

This so is so High level. I am surprised there aren't any comments how this is 3.5 at best California lol
I still hit plenty of shots that are 3.5 at best 😂 but I try to block those from my memory!
@@KevinDongPickleball Ha! No way man. The skill level here is standout. From the very beginning it was obvious!

there it is
this does not look like a 5.5 match, way too many pop ups
Is it me or does pickleball have a serve problem? Nothing interesting there, no apparent room for creativity or skill to provide advantage :/
I think that’s the goal, pickleball is a game to be won in the rally. It’s better this way, if you look at a sport like spikeball, it has the opposite problem.
So you would rather it be like tennis and half the points be won on the serve or the following few shots, personally I think that would ruin the game.
