Now I'm going to demonstrate a calypso leap. You start out in fondu tendu into a nice kick and an attitude. Let me break that down for you. The arms first, so through first and then stretch all the way back into a while you're in the air. The position of the leap looks like this.
And I teach this, actually, on the floor. I'll show you. The one leg is extended out to the side. The left leg is in a nice elongated attitude and you're pressing into the. This is how the leap should look in the air on the ground. The preparation for the calypso leap starts in a nice fondu tendu. So you start in first position. Tendu the right leg. Fondu the left. Go into a tombe. Then a parallel pirouette. I mean, sorry, a parallel . The right leg fans up and around, extended out to the side. The hips go up and over as the left leg comes up into an attitude and you combre your back into the position.
It's a little bit hard to break down in that much slow motion because it's a big jump. But, let's try to do that with . Okay, this is a calypso leap. Slowly first. Not full out just so you see the mechanics of the leap. Tombe, parallel, extend into the combre attitude. Now I'll show you what it looks like to actually leap it. And there's a calypso leap. - Хобби

Hi I have a question. What is the difference between the calypso leap and the chains leap?
In a calypso, you have your back leg in an attitude. In a chaine, both legs are straight.
ohhhhh thank you :)
Hi
Idk why yall saying this is so hard. All types of leaps are easy. I learned this in my second week of dance class. What's hard in jazz are turns. Skill level isn't really important. Just work very hard, find help on corrections, and improve your technique. Applying all this can make you a good dancer.
What confuses me is, idk we could tombe for a leap. I thought it was always plie in second before leaping. The more you know
Competition dance... well that's another matter.
Things are easy and hard for everyone you just have to except that
Jazz turns are really easy…
is this beginner or advanced?
Advanced
Nerdy News for Nerdy Kids! R u sure? We’re doing this in my intermediate class.
@@anti-climacticclimax9590 Well, I am in competition classes and I never got taught these beforehand. Every studio is different though!
I’m trying to do the calypso leap can u tell me why the second leg who goes in attitude when starts to go in air the other leg falls in that instant on the floor? I mean i don’t understand why my legs aren’t together in the air can u tell me why or what i gotta do?
Chiara Pierfranceschi when you get into your down chaine you have to think of both legs brushing up simultaneously :) try to push off the floor to really get the legs up and get more air time. Also another thing to take note of is if you think of mostly your front leg fanning OVER you’re more likely to hit the floor quicker so instead think of brushing out and keeping it straight like the position you would be in on the floor
Is back leg up higher than the front? I know you're not supposed to fan but... Please help!!
It's supposed to be hip level. Unless your a freaking mutant and can do it.
attitudes are always in line with your hip. refer to 0:31

First comment
Isn't this connotatively known as a stag leap?
Brandon Basic Life no a stag and A calypso are two different things
A stag leap isn't turning and both legs are in attitude
Brandon Maldonado it is everyone calls this a stag leap the other people that commented to this are incorrect
+Minsical actually there is no correct name for this leap. It's been called turning jete , calypso , stag leap , flying saucer leap etc.
Thefab-bae squad the correct way to call this leap is calypso but slowly people began to refer it as a stag leap
she did no spot the front
Did you mean look to the front as she leapt? She didn't do that, but you're supposed to spot sideways because that's the way you're going..
AHHHHHH lol
Isn't this in ballet?
Urooj Cheema no
@@branaba7184 it is actually
Urooj Cheema well, why did you asked the question if you knew it??
@@branaba7184 it knew but I was asking if it was in jazz too
Urooj Cheema you’ve never asked if this was in jazz
I broke my leg while doing this...
