1 tsp Red Chilli Powder

NIce version. The typically made version found in gujarati households is Valod dhokli. Also very important to thoroughly wash as mentioned in the video as also ensure drying prior to splitting/ chopping.

I made it today and it was very nice.
I added bit of Finger and chilly paste.
It all tested wonderful.
The tomatoes seedless and not mixed initally was very nice i did same way Next time will cook in zground nut oil.

Nice recipe. Gujarati food is incomplete without (sugar or jaggery), for balance tomoto tangy taste.
Yeah for Grandma food!
we generally put the spices in the oil itself at the beginning (so mustard seeds, cumin, hing, turmeric, red chilly powder in the hot oil at the beginning). What is the reason or advantage of putting the spices later?
So that it does not burn away.
In Gujarati style Valorpapdi saak adding little bit of jaggery for balance tomoto tangy taste...try once, sure will like it...

This is known as sem (pronounced rhyming with the English word same) in Hindi. It is prepared in the North using mustard oil. It is often cooked in combination with potatoes, tomatoes and peas with or without a bit of onion garlic.

I am a Gujarati and we use ajmo or carrom seeds for the tadka
Papdis are easier to digest with ajmo hence used for tadka
