    FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO:
    Hotel: Mini Hotel Central
I found my room for around $80 (which had big windows and a view). Note…there are even cheaper rooms at this hotel (around 50 dollars), but they will be even smaller and they may or may have a window…it was unclear when I was booking. I’d call the hotel to double check.
    Food:
    -Tim Ho Wan
    -Luk Yu Tea House
-Lin Hueng Tea Room (formerly called Lin Huen Tea House)
    -Mak’s Noodle
    -Tsim Chai Kee
    -Kam’s Roast Goose
    -Joy Hing Roasted Meat
    -Little Bao
    -Ho Lee Fook
-Street Food (Most of my favorite stalls are in Mong Kok)
    -Oddies Foodies
    -Tai Cheong Bakery
    -Mammy Pancake
    -Hong Lin Restaurant
    -Spicy Crab (Temple Night Market)
    -Mankamana Nepalese Cuisine
-Lord Stow’s Bakery (Macau egg tarts)
-So Bor Kee Seafood (on Cheung Chau Island)
-Din Tai Fong (not directly featured in the video…but a few of the shots of the food are from here)
    Bars/Nightlife:
    -Lan Kwai Fong
    -Lockhart Road (Wan Chai)
    -Hollywood Road (Central/Soho)
-The Old Man (cool delicious drinks all named after Hemingway references)
-Mrs. Pound (also amazing food here)
    Neighborhoods:
    -Central Business district
    -Wan Chai
    -Tsim Cha Tsui
    -Mong Kok
    -Soho
    Markets:
    -Temple Night Street Market
    -Mong Kok Ladies Market
-Upper Lascar Row Antique Market (also known as Cat Street)
    -Stanly Market
    Temples/Monasterys:
-Tian Tan (Giant) Buddha on Lantau Island…get here by taking the tram at Tung Chung
    -Man Mo Temple (Central)
-Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery (North Kowloon)
    Hong Kong Park:
(some shots of the next door botanical gardens are also included in this segment)Star Ferry: Terminal 7 in Central or in Tsim Sha Tsui on Kowloon side
    Victoria Peak:
Tram up to the top (beware the lines)
    Take a Taxi
    Or there are buses
And of course you can always walk if you want the exercise:)
    Day Trip to Macau:
    Ruins of St. Paul
    Senado Square
    Taipa Village
    Venetian Casino
Lagoon near the Wynn (for many of the aerial shots…note…I received permission from local police to fly my drone)
    Nature/Hikes/etc:
    -Dragon’s Back Hike
    -Shek O Beach
-Big Wave Bay Beach (kind of haha)
    -Lion Rock Hike
-Tai O Fishing Village (easily accessible from the Tian Tan (Giant) Buddha
    -Cheung Chau Island
    MY EQUIPMENT:
Camera: Panasonic GH5 (w/ Metabones Speedbooster adapter, and an XLR shoe mount for my lav mic)
Second Camera (For Studio shots): Sony FS5

Over thirty years ago, when I was in my 40s, my mother took me to Hong Kong for what turned out to be my only trip abroad. This video brought back so many memories of places I’d been and made me want to o return to experience the places I’d missed. The video is brilliantly filmed and edited, entertaining, and informative. In full disclosure, Matt is my son, but I think my assessment would be the same even if he weren’t. However, I’m one proud mama.

Congratulations Kate. You have every reason to be a proud mama. Matt's Travel Tips are not only entertaining, they are quite possibly THE BEST in class. I have been to each of the cities he has featured on many occasions and I think he pretty much has everything covered. However, I can think of two things that leave me baffled every time I watch one of his videos: 1) why he is not the most famous travel guide in the world and 2) why is he not as round as a bagel with all the food he eats. BTW, I see the origin of his sense of humor.

    • @katekatims7189
      @katekatims7189 5 лет назад +8

Juan Ramos thanks for your kind words. However, even though I’m the mom, I have to agree that I don’t understand why he isn’t the most famous travel guide. As for all the food he eats, I hate him that he can do that and stay thin. In fairness, he works out a lot, and I guess I subscribe to the “ I’ll work out next week” theory “ 😬

So far your videos have been the best travel guides I’ve seen, both in terms of video quality and esthetic as well as recommendations. I used your Oahu travel guide and had a great time. A highlight of that trip was the Hoomaluhia garden. Parking was free entry was free and I was shocked that it wasn’t overrun by tourist because it is such an amazing place! So thank you for that!

Loved it! So great to see you and your team back, you all have been missed! Hong Kong has been on my "Must Visit" list and now your video has caused it to move up the ranks to must visit in the next 12 months. I will have to look at high season versus low season and visa requirements and plan accordingly. Thanks again for a wonderful video!

Kayos501 Thanks so much! Glad you liked it! Thanks for all the support every time I post a vid:) And yeah...Hong Kong is pretty amazing. Have a great time when you end up there. Also...the visa situation is deferent there than in mainland China. Coming from the states, I don’t need a visa. And if you end up there in summer, just be prepared for the super hot humid weather...so pack accordingly:)

I have flown in and out of Hong Kong airport a good few times since 2007 en route to Manila and London or Paris. It is an amazing view from the approaching plane. With just a few hours to spare between flights I once jumped on the train and got into town somewhere for a quick wander around. It was amazing. Later this year I hope to spend a week there with my wife and daughter. Can't wait!

@@dave928 yeah. The bridge is opened. They have buses that goes to Macau from Hong Kong. My parents took one just to checkout the bridge. I believe the buses stop at the casinos, which would be convenient if you're planning to go there to begin with. The old way by boat require you to take local transports to the casino after clearing customs at the dock. Some of the casinos have shuttle buses to the dock as well if you ask around.
