    18:52 - The 1-2-3 block was a brilliant choice for measuring accuracy of the scans. Too bad it wasn't possible to scan it.

    This was very neat! I feel like it is a design that could be easily (relatively speaking (compared to those crazy handheld scanners etc) to make as Open Source Hardware.

      Yeah for sure! For this format of small-scanning it's really really nice!

    Hey man, i know this was a long time ago now but I'm trying to scan the bottom side of my figure to combine both scan to make the full scan but every time i click on continue scan it just makes a new scan and it doesn't split the screen like on your video. Can you remember how exactly you done the multi scan to be able to turn the item around?

    Say it JOOLRI 😂🤣 Isn't it possible to coat parts with acrylic paint or some washable matte paint brushed on for a more even and thin coating? Spray coating seems to be a very inaccurate/uneven way to cover the entire object especially when dealing with details that measure a fraction of a millimeter

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  3 года назад

      Joolri! Haha. You, probably could! But, you don't want it shiny, so it would have to be a matte coat, which itself might be a bit thick, like the aesub. I guess it's just the nature of applying a coat, that it covers and wants to creep into cracks and fill them.

    Great detailed video! howmuch does it cost? and how does it compare to the SOLUTIONIX D700 jewellery scanner?

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  3 года назад

      I havent tried the D700, it does look like a Artec Micro copy? If they run similar software it should be really good, but Artec is amazing when it comes to software. The Thunk 3D does a great job getting you the mesh and will do so at roughly 1/5th or 1/6th of the Artec price. But it's hard for me to actually compare them in your specific application =).

    Good Morning, If you still have the scanner, and interested I would like to send you some jewelry objects to scan. I guess for the money I need more proof of concept before I can spend 5K? Also, is this a stand alone product or tethered to a computer? If tethered to a computer what are the specs for a computer to run at optimum speed?

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  3 года назад

      Hey mate! Sorry I don't have it anymore, sent it back after review :). I'm sure Thunk3D can help you get in contact with anyone locally that can sell you a scan or two! This is tethered to a computer. I used a intel i7 (7th gen) laptop with 16GB ram and Nvidia 1050 GPU. So you need a OK windows computer, mostly focus on CPU and RAM. but you don't need a monster-computer =)

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  2 года назад

      Not really, I suppose the area of capture isn't large enough for a full dental cast. for partial casts/tooths, it would to the trick. But I'd say it's not fully compatible with dental use.

    • @3DPrintTechDesign
      @3DPrintTechDesign  3 года назад

      Haha, I'm not sure you should even if it could. But in theory yes, although the maximum scan size might be a limit. You might need scanning spray on it if it's too shiny, that spray might deform some of the sharper corners, when we talk sub mm scales.
