Dont matter what Land Rover thinks, low profile tires do not belong on an off road suv .

I was a passenger in a 2008 Range Rover last week, it has been owned by the original owner from new & apart from the usual servicing; tyres, etc. he said it has been trouble free. It was still very comfortable on country roads for a 200 mile around trip, & very capable doing some light off road work during a day’s shooting. I know many have problems at some point, but this one didn’t &, speaking with other friends who own various LR models, it seems that the unreliability point is over emphasised. Probably by rival manufacturers whose offerings don’t match the various Land Rover & Range Rover models for all around ability when combining both on road & off road usage.

Sadly we'll never know. CT became G4 became TreK. Each step seems to be less and less about the truck and more and more about other "lifestyle" things like kayaking, hiking, biking, etc. I do wish we could bring back CT but it won't happen. And no, I don't think a modern Defender could manage. I don't see too many of them surviving being dunked into water up to the top of the doors to cross a river for example.

I seriously question the fitment and ability of those bush wires , in the old defender , you mounted those to your bullbar which is mounted to the chassis , if you found yourself in the situation where you were making your own path , you could literally cut down branches with them , they always saved your windscreen . These ones all , like the rest of the car , appear very designer and flimsy with it .

TFL is an automotive journalism group, who unlike a large majority can actually report on vehicles for offroad use. That’s why LR puts on the event, that and for dealer personnel to engage with the more utilitarian designed of the defender. I thoroughly enjoy TFLs competent ability to do stuff like this without employing the imposter syndrome, ie; someone who can’t even figure out how to get a 4x4 into low range then pretends to be an expert in it.

Something is not right about this video. It seems that Land Rover is demanding that you highlight their Defender in this silly challenge just to mask the reality that Land Rover makes very unreliable vehicles. It makes them look good, but they are taking advantage of your honest reviews and making a “schill” out of you and TFL.

@@gregjacob3858 …of course I have. But it seems now that the honest reviews of Land Rover’s lineup is starting to make the parent company upset because it may be hurting their sales. Assembled in the UK, but the parent company is TATA of India…but the major stake holder of TATA is Geely in China. So guess who gets to make all of the decisions about how Land Rover is run ?

@@cruzmalibu4361 Most car companies dont have the culture associated with them like LR. Jeep and Toyota also, but the Camel Trophy was far from silly. That was a real test of machine and man. The one in this video is a bit lame compared to the old challenges. How is LR retaliating and against who? TFL had a bad experience with their Defender and yet LR invites them back every year. Did I miss something?
