If you have issues getting Equalizer APO to work, you're probably using a Realtek device or your motherboard's headphone jack. Go back to the Configurator windows (seen at 2:52), select your output device, go to Troubleshooting options near the bottom, and select Install as SFX/MFX (experimental) on the right. And then restart
I followed this video + turned on Windows Sonic, streaming 24 bit / 44.1 kHz FLAC from Amazon Music, and honestly I've never experienced anything like this! It still blows my mind the amount of small detail I can hear and pick up from any songs, I'm using the Sony WH-1000XM3 over Bluetooth 5.0, and it's like listening to my favorite music for the first time all over again! Your video was very helpful and easy to follow for a noob like me. I got running in less than 10 minutes and i can tell a huge difference in the Audio ( IM using Sony MDR-7506 studio headphones with a Behriner UMC 202HD preamp). Im excited to hear and feel the difference in the long run.

I used their setting for SHP9500 and 58X and they both now sound so close to each other. SHP9500 got a huge boost in bass and clarity. It sounds so good. 58X got also get better bass after this. Your headphones will sound quieter after this so you should have an amp.
The easiest way to EQ your headphone is install Peace Equalizer after installing Equalizer APO, then you can import equalizer config from AutoEQ to Peace Equalizer and you're done! Note: see crinacle video for reference.

forgot to thank this person for this video... this program is amazing, really rough to use for the first time. i think i spent about 3 hours figuring out everything.. but once i got use to what i was doing.. i have the best sound. i got $200 ear buds, bose super sports worth $100 and my Hyperx cloud S wireless headphones are the best out of all of my other headphones because of this app.. 10/10 rating.

I dragged and dropped the .txt autoEQ file for the headphones I wanted into the folder that opened and selected it. Everything was set instantly. FYI, it turns out that drastically changing the natural tuning of a headphone can make it sound very weird and unpleasant. I prefer doing it by ear with what I have.
These made my crappy arctis 7 2019 actually usable for gaming/listening. I'm getting 6xx's in the mail soon and I can't wait to see what the eq does for those as well.
Not sure if I did something wrong but I followed all the instructions and all I can hear is that the bass is much less and everything sounds a bit tinny as well as not getting nearly as loud. Not sure if that was supposed to happen. Using Microsoft Surface headphones 2 to test this. Got HD58X that I will try with later (not with me atm) and see if I run into the same issue. I dont really understand anything term or number wise so I dont think it would be smart for me to start changing values and what not. New to the hobby and not really understanding the point of EQ, anytime I try to do something with it the sound ends up sounding worse to me in some way. Whether it doesnt get as loud, looses base, gets tinny on the highs and makes voices quieter.
Sometimes the flat sound doesn't sound good. That's why headphones are EQd. I found this video because I want to EQ my headphones for mixing music and not really for listening om my favorite tunes.
Theres also the posibility to load the included minimum phase rendition included in the folders , with my headphones it works even better than the parametric settings(which "for me" were the best I found so far)...to do that instead of shelf and peaking filters just add an adavnced>convolution with impulse response and load the .wav file(there are 2 one for 44.1khz and one 48khz..I loaded the 44.1khz one because that the sample rate I have set for my dac).
@@zesky1822 I'm not 100% sure on that.. so I can't answer but If I'm not mistaken when you EQ you also change the phase behavior which may cause some problems but I stand corrected (maybe an audio engineer could give some insighits on the matter...I tried the presets with paramteric and the minimum phase on my headphones and the min. phase aproach worked better in my case/for my tastes/ears , your milage may vary) worth a try
HOLLY SHIT!!!! I HAVE A BEHRINGER X-Touch Mini… and after installing AutoEQ I saw a button that said MIDI and I almost had a heart attack!!! I was like OMGOMGOMGOMG PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!’ My Behringer X-Touch Mini now controls my bass, treble, volume, shelves and a few other things. I could have it adjust each band but nah I don’t need that! Also have (2) layers setup so for the treble and bass I hit the layer button and those knobs adjust the frequency instead. Same with the shelves and the volume knob changes to gain. This is so friggin cool!!!!!
For anyone stupid enough like me: *Blue with an inner White* power button means = *Off* *White with an inner Black* power button means = *On* Also dont forget to turn on your preamp thing! Very little about this tutorial resembles my own installation of Equalizer APO 1.2.1. Subfolders described are not in my Download folder, and there is no Results folder. Etc.
Boosting frequencies only adds distortion, to eq headphones you Need to reduce the bands, this is why buying headphones with high sensitivity is important

Tried it with the KZ DQ6 using MH752 sound card and man it sounds a looooot better, with ATH-PG1(or ATH-PRO5MK3 in the config) it's pretty subpar but I guess can't have it both ways.

I've tried different presets but I really prefer just the unaltered sound of my BD DT990 Pro headphones, I think these EQ's follow the harman-target for headphones which to my ears sounds a little bit off.
Silly Question.... Does the following confused rant make sense? If I AutoEQ with my old trusty Sony MDR-7506's then will I be able to EQ My mic to Harman Neutral and then transfer those setting to a parametric EQ in my little rack. For video conferencing have a clean audio source is important. I have been using a Graphic Equalizer (old dbx 231) to Minus EQ the big room noise and outside my vocal range. Then I have a (equally old dbx 266XL ) 2 channel compressor gate, I am using a beringer umc404hd with an insert to bring in my mic and as an audio interface. I switched from a cheap AT2020 microphone large Cardioid Condenser Microphone to an even cheaper small diaphram condensor SDC (neewer - yes really). The pencil mic with a cardiod pattern and a small condensor hides a lot of the bad things about my room (and I can move it above out of camera). The audio interface manages 24bit/192k on USB2.0. (again cheap hardware but good mic preamps and it has inserts - driver support and still in production ).... Once I bring the signal onto the computer I am using VoiceMeeter Potato with VBCable so that I can EQ the sound with the built-in 5 channel EQ. and with the Reaper Plugin ReaEQ for recording with OBS.... All this is to say that without getting a reference baseline on my headphones I suspect I have done the right things wrong and worse still, once I have reference on the headphonese I can eq the mic at the source and get rid of all this silliness. I'd like to buy and old Behringer Feedback Destroyer FBQ2496 (24bit 96k) and use it in manual mode (dual channel 24 filters with width - programmable)... (The Ring in my room doesn't require ringing out random frequencies). I guess the question is... Will this let me EQ my source to a reference standard so that I can stop screwing around with the rest of the sound chain?
Hi, any chance you would know how to EQ the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X? The github has the file and stuff listed but when I download from your description it's not in the preset/prelisted folders to choose from, and even following the guide I have almost no clue what I'm doing with it. All of your other videos have been excellent and easy to follow including this one, just a little troubling as don't have the preset for my particular headphone

Thanks so much for the walkthrough. I had absolutely no idea the Corsair HS60 Pro Surround had such a terrible, muddy sound to it. Everything sounds so fresh now! *For everyone confused by the results they got:* turn off the preamps in the other tab if it sounds too quiet, and listen to a few songs to let your ears acclimate to the new sound. *Edit:* I did notice though that recording audio in Audacity causes the effect to double over, so recordings sound extra tinny. Any workaround for this besides turning it off every time I want to record something?

I'm new to eqing headphones but it seems I have the only pair of headphones(Sentry BLW-BT302) in the world where the manufacturer who mage them doesn't have a frequency chart...I've looked everywhere and even called them, nothing. Sorry I'm still a bit confused. Am i supposed to hit the power button on the parametric EQ filters to activate it? My headset is a Razer Blackshark V2 and the README states that a pre-amp of -6.0 dB must be applied. Everything sounds so quiet now. I know i'm coming across as a complete noob but I'm very confused as to how to activate these preset filters for better audio on my headphones.
The band I play with use the qu you app, which has very similar to a 31 band eq, but doesnt have the exact frequencies that the 31 band eq on auto eq has, (they are slighly out ie. istead of 125hz it may be 127hz). Will this make a huge difference if I just put them in as best as can? Also it doesn't show the gain number is more of a approximation. If that';s not gonna work great is there another app I can use in conjunction?
you may need to extract the file. That has happened to me before where I needed to extract the file for it to work. Whether you need to download a specific program to extract it or just extract it in the file manager I'm not sure
I setup AutoEQ on my Sennheiser HD 560S and I think it worked as I followed the instructions. Is there a way to enable and disable the AutoEQ effects so I can listen to "BEFORE" vs "AFTER" sound?
This didn't work at all because when I get to the part where I select a device, I can't pick any of the 3 installed APO's as the boxes are greyed out. Clicking the boxes activates the OK button, but The device setting never changes from "all devices" when I close the select device window.
I have sennheiser 598cs and I followed directions 100% but my audio is so quiet I can't hear anything. My only fix to this was sounds>Playback>properties>enhancement>Loudness equalization>settings>Release time short. But without this tweak I can not hear anything with the default settings, what could I possibly be doing wrong? my GoXlr is also at 100%.
I found my HyperX Cloud Flight S headset on the list but when I click on it, there's no ParametricEQ file. The only thing it shows is HyperX Cloud Flight S.csv file. When I open that file, it basically shows frequencies in a read-only type window. Do I copy the .csv file and go from there? I'm a little lost. thank you. Also there's no README file.

Hello,...does digital equalizers such as eq apo harm the quality of source signal?, I do use it for bookshelf stereo setup primarly but at the moment I do not have good acustics, so cant evaluate if it harm somhow to soudstage, clarity etc, actually I need it because I found my new dac trable expanded and I need to reduce it all the way from 2000 HZ - 3000Hz about 1.5 db and fter that about 1 db, so would it e preferable to change the dac until I can or eq is 99% ok?
My Eq APO muted my headphones when installed. The sound is registred on the sound card but does not come through. Any ideas how to fix that? Windows 7.

Couldn't you use EqualizerAPO's GraphicEQ filter to achieve the same thing or are they both different?

i found that boosting 350-400ish hz up 3db made the most difference but thats probably just my ears

Once I bring the signal onto the computer I am using VoiceMeeter Potato with VBCable so that I can EQ the sound with the built-in 5 channel EQ. and with the Reaper Plugin ReaEQ for recording with OBS.... All this is to say that without getting a reference baseline on my headphones I suspect I have done the right things wrong and worse still, once I have reference on the headphonese I can eq the mic at the source and get rid of all this silliness. I'd like to buy and old Behringer Feedback Destroyer FBQ2496 (24bit 96k) and use it in manual mode (dual channel 24 filters with width - programmable)... (The Ring in my room doesn't require ringing out random frequencies). I guess the question is... Will this let me EQ my source to a reference standard so that I can stop screwing around with the rest of the sound chain?
So the APO has to always be open for it to work?

Hi, any chance you would know how to EQ the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X? The github has the file and stuff listed but when I download from your description it's not in the preset/prelisted folders to choose from, and even following the guide I have almost no clue what I'm doing with it. All of your other videos have been excellent and easy to follow including this one, just a little troubling as don't have the preset for my particular headphone

Im confused is the parametric eq file all I need to do or do I have to do Fixband and all the other files in it aswell? Using Anker Soundcore life q20 if that helps.
Thanks so much for the walkthrough. I had absolutely no idea the Corsair HS60 Pro Surround had such a terrible, muddy sound to it. Everything sounds so fresh now!
*For everyone confused by the results they got:* turn off the preamps in the other tab if it sounds too quiet, and listen to a few songs to let your ears acclimate to the new sound.
*Edit:* I did notice though that recording audio in Audacity causes the effect to double over, so recordings sound extra tinny. Any workaround for this besides turning it off every time I want to record something?

I'm new to eqing headphones but it seems I have the only pair of headphones(Sentry BLW-BT302) in the world where the manufacturer who mage them doesn't have a frequency chart...I've looked everywhere and even called them, nothing. Am i supposed to hit the power button on the parametric EQ filters to activate it? My headset is a Razer Blackshark V2 and the README states that a pre-amp of -6.0 dB must be applied. Everything sounds so quiet now. I know i'm coming across as a complete noob but I'm very confused as to how to activate these preset filters for better audio on my headphones.
Im having trouble, whenever I download the AutoEq file I cant find the rtings folder inside of it. Ive reinstalled it twice and still no dice.
Also is there any issue if I am using a DAC/AMP connected to my headphones, concurrently with Equalizer APO?
The band I play with use the qu you app, which has very similar to a 31 band eq, but doesnt have the exact frequencies that the 31 band eq on auto eq has, (they are slighly out ie. istead of 125hz it may be 127hz). Will this make a huge difference if I just put them in as best as can? Also it doesn't show the gain number is more of a approximation.
If that';s not gonna work great is there another app I can use in conjunction?

you may need to extract the file. That has happened to me before where I needed to extract the file for it to work. Whether you need to download a specific program to extract it or just extract it in the file manager I'm not sure

I setup AutoEQ on my Sennheiser HD 560S and I think it worked as I followed the instructions.
Is there a way to enable and disable the AutoEQ effects so I can listen to "BEFORE" vs "AFTER" sound?

This didn't work at all because when I get to the part where I select a device, I can't pick any of the 3 installed APO's as the boxes are greyed out. Clicking the boxes activates the OK button, but The device setting never changes from "all devices" when I close the select device window.

I have sennheiser 598cs and I followed directions 100% but my audio is so quiet I can't hear anything. My only fix to this was sounds>Playback>properties>enhancement>Loudness equalization>settings>Release time short.
But without this tweak I can not hear anything with the default settings, what could I possibly be doing wrong? my GoXlr is also at 100%.
I found my HyperX Cloud Flight S headset on the list but when I click on it, there's no ParametricEQ file. The only thing it shows is HyperX Cloud Flight S.csv file. When I open that file, it basically shows frequencies in a read-only type window. Do I copy the .csv file and go from there? I'm a little lost. thank you. Also there's no README file.

Hello,...does digital equalizers such as eq apo harm the quality of source signal?, I do use it for bookshelf stereo setup primarly but at the moment I do not have good acustics, so cant evaluate if it harm somhow to soudstage, clarity etc, actually I need it because I found my new dac trable expanded and I need to reduce it all the way from 2000 HZ - 3000Hz about 1.5 db and fter that about 1 db, so would it e preferable to change the dac until I can or eq is 99% ok?
