That law has a lot of hatred in it as well...so...
So-called "hate crimes" are loopholes in order to punish those who say things people don't like to hear...even if it's factually true. I look forward to the day when all "hate crimes" are abolished, and people are allowed to say whatever (wise or hurtful) they choose. But if they act iwith physical violence based on those beliefs, they should be fully prosecuted.

I'd say it's reasonable to impose penalties on people that call for actual physical harm to an individual, aka direct threats. This law isn't about it. "Feeling" harmed is subjective, stating a truth can in this case be easily considered hate speech and that is preposterous.

It's brilliant what she's done with this, she put them in a position where they either enforce their new joke of a law and watch the reaction to that from the public or they do what they've done and don't enforce it and make the new law look pointless. They'll use this law to go after those who don't have a platform and won't get the attention when they get arrested unfortunately.
Agreeing with science as opposed to social constructs is not hate speech and JKR should be free to air her views. I don't really understand why Scotland seems to be passing more regressive loony laws than Westminster, but I'm glad people are challenging it.

It may not rise to the level of a hate crime, but it was still a hateful and malicious attack. This is not something to be proud of. Nor was it brave - she would have sought the best legal advice money can buy well in advance and knew precisely how close she could come to the line. She also purposely made the remarks while outside of Scotland

Our Country of Northern Ireland already has Discrimination law which protects those in all Societies here. This includes Colour Creed Religion Race Gender, The courts here Protect each person and person's who want to be happy in there own way of life..
