For future reference, taller or longer is for going faster. Think over-drive. You have to go *over* tall things. Examples being 2:1, 1:1, 0.73:1 Short/low gears are for massive torque. Like 6.75:1, 5:1. Input rotaion : output rotation. I hope this helps

If you have the torque node directly above the wheel, things... well... they get a bit weird. Small wheel: 10 cm diameter 31.4 cm circunference Big wheel: 1 m diameter 3.14 m circunference Lets say that the engine is at 1000 RPM, the gear ratio is 1:1, so engine RPM is the same as wheel RPM. Small wheel = 314 meters per minute ( around 6 m/s) Big wheel = 3140 meters per minute (around 60 m/s).

Aero is most important, lightness is 2nd, wheels are 3rd. In real life, if you're trying to increase efficiency at high speeds, larger wheels can do this, because they effectively increase the gear ratio, which reduces engine speed, and the extra inertia helps balance out fluctuations, so the engine can run at a more consistent speed. However, the weight disadvantage is still there, and depending on fender design, the aero can change enough to completely eliminate the advantage. Also, larger wheels usually have more rolling resistance, which also decreases efficiency. (A higher gear ratio is better than larger wheels in most cases.) (Also, efficiency and speed are very related. I drive a CVT sedan with 110 hp but it can go 120 mph without too much effort. If it was less efficient (like having an automatic or manual transmission), it wouldn't be able to get there as easily.)
