Hi Gabriel, There's no doubt there's a level of comfort there. You have an acceptance of what to expect because you have been there so many times and the anticipation of wanting to go back to visit India was incredibly great. I think you'll be there for several weeks covering many of the places you have been to before.

India is a very special place, this'll be cool!!
I've been there only once, 10 years ago, went from Mumbai up to Indore and Delhi, went down to Agra and farther southeast, followed Ganges for quite a while, stopping along a bunch of places ending in -pur, visited Varanasi and ended in West Bengal, flew out of Kolkata.
This west to east trip took almost 2 and a half months and there's so much more to see!
Never went north to the mountains, or south, haven't even visited Goa (not that I'm particularly attracted to such a touristy place).
Can't wait to follow your trip!

My first and only trip to India was for 3 months also starting Oct 1999, mostly by train. Passing through Jaipur I went to Jodhpur and the Jaisalmer on the edge of the Thar dessert, Christmas night sleeping out in the open. Also went to a good few other places you mentioned. I went to Nepal instead of the India northwest, so many places still to see. Amazing how the street scenes and sounds are still just like I remember them from 22 years ago.

Even though I've spent a total of 6 months traveling all over the country, I feel like I barely scratched the surface of this complex and amazing country. My favorite cities were Varanasi, Darjeeling, Jaisalmer, Kochi, Amritsar, Manali, just to name a few. Of course, the people and the culture are what really describe India for me. Just watching this video brought back so many memories for me. Thank you.

It was 1992, I was 19 and what started as a 3 months backpack trip ended up being a 2 year journey during which I made lifelong friends! I never went to Rishikesh although I am a huge Beatle fan! My itinerary was identical to yours! From Delhi I took a train to Agra, Agra to Jaipur ( not a big fan) Jaipur to Bombay, Bombay to Goa then I returned to Bombay as I loved it there. Stayed there for a year. Great story telling, great memories! ☺️👌👍

I was in Paharganj,Delhi about 2 months before Covid arrived 2 years ago and there was almost no foreign travellers even before Covid. I spoke with locals and they said that the backpacker scene has died, people are drawn to east asia and its easier and cleaner way of life and the people who come to india now head straight to the main attractions, Goa, trekking in the mountains and the big forts etc. its such a shame i love this area when i first went in the mid 90's, but i think those days of chilling in crowded cafes swapping stories with fellow travellers for now at least as moved on. it will be interesting to see how many younger backpackers you see away from places like goa etc

I returned from India 10 days ago. I only had the 30-day E-Visa so it was a rushed 30 day trip. The 15 days on Agonda Beach were quite relaxing. One of the travel agencies that Gabriel walked by across from the train station ripped me off for 750 rupees. I was sold a bus ticket to Vrindavan. The travel agent told me to return the next day at 8:30 AM and he would show me where the bus left from. When I returned, the agency was closed and there was no bus. I ended up taking a Taxi for 3,000 rupees.

When I visited India in september - october 2014, my first hotel was located across the street from the temple at 11:40! It's still the best trip I ever did, I spent 5 weeks travelling around the north-western India. I visited Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajastan, Varanasi and many other places, I will never forget it. I hope I can go back someday, maybe I'll go to the south then also... Anyway, the swastika symbol was used here in northern europe (I'm in Sweden) in ancient times also. I've seen it alot on old jewelry from the period just before the viking age, sometimes together with runic writing. Nobody knows anymore what it meant exactly...

11 times to India but not once to Calcutta? Bizarre - I found the City of Joy to be the most interesting and most pleasant to visit of the big 4.

Namaste, most honoured to be messaged by your good self Gabriel sahib! I trust all is going well in N. Africa. I hope to escape England this winter and get back to Asia but as I refuse to get vaccinated (I am on the same wavelength as UP sate Chief Minister Adityanath on this one) or tested for C19 I am currently restricted to revisiting Malaysia or Vietnam. Anyway hope to see you in Bengal sometime and happy travels.

Yes, some foreign visitors especially European and North American visitors romanticized the chaos and "energy" on the streets, but after a while they would find such way of life is quite annoying and unpleasant.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos I like it, the monsoon’s easing off, all the plants have a new lease of life, the tourist footfall’s pretty low. Also there’s some really great seasonal food. Can’t wait. These vids have me fired up for it, can’t wait to get back.

No idea why all Tourists go to Big Cities in India. Try out Countryside and Small Towns and Villages, These are much more Beautiful, Pollution Free and Relaxing. They also a breath of fresh air from Bustling Towns and Crowds.
