    Thank you for this video. I really like the idea of the MPC (even without the keyboard) but I don’t like what everybody’s doing with it: You pick a random 1950’s sample, chop it, manipulate it, and in the end it sounds almost identical to other’s beats.
    Guys with a MPC, there’s so much richness sound wise all around.

    Thanks for the video.
    I’m just starting out with an MPC Mini Play and about to buy Seqtrak. I am investing in the Yamaha because I like the portability. This certainly looks like a great machine even for a beginner.
    Your intro here certainly makes it look easy. Could you please continue with the project? I would like to see how you tweak the tracks to give it nuance as well as the vocal production. Kind of like a “how to make a song, from start to finish” series.
    Cheers again.

      It's actually A LOT to wrap your head around even if you have massive experience with synths, workstations and DAWs. But I mean that in a good way.

    • @CHAYsounds
      @CHAYsounds  7 месяцев назад +1

      Nice! So as far as learning any system it takes a little time but it's fairly intuitive once you start to understand the workflow. I might do something like that.

  • @toddwmac
    @toddwmac 7 месяцев назад +3

    That was a great video....thank you. I think you've convinced me to jump into the Akai world. I've been considering for a "dawless" option to compliment my PreSonus, Arturia and NI environment, and your video made the case. I was wondering if you have any, or know of any MPC fundamentals videos on general concepts and language unique to Akai and the MPC? Mapping terms used to system elements and their subsequent workflows always takes some study, and your fluidity with the system(s) was super helpful in that department. Thanks again!

    If you discard the cheesy music that's being made here then this is actually a great video that demonstrates to outsiders what an MPC can do. The non-sampling part that is. If you start sampling then the MPC really comes into its own.

    I love the concept of MPC Key 37, but I'm torn on the tech specs, mainly on RAM and paid plugins.
    2 GBs of RAM don't seem like enough for larger sessions or more complex patches. InMusic (conglomerate behind AKAI and many other brands) also tends to charge a lot for additional plugins, a good example of that is one of their newest instruments called Jura (modeled after Roland's Juno series).
    Don't get me wrong, it seems like pretty good and fun piece of gear to work with, but it still has its quirks and issues. I nearly forgot: it's a pretty good review, Chay, keep it up!!!

      Seems low, but it’s a linux based OS. I own the MPC live. If your SSD is fast enough there‘ll be no problems appearing.

    • @josephkissel6062
      @josephkissel6062 7 месяцев назад +2

      Keep in mind 95 percent of the MPCs sold in this generation have 2GB of RAM. That said, I've done just about everything I can think of doing on MPC Key 37 and haven't hit a wall once. Really, the only thing the extra RAM does is allow you to load multiple instances of the resource-hog plug-ins like Fabric XL, Studio Strings and the Stage instruments. With 2GB ram you can load 3-4 instances of the BIG sample-based plugs. Otherwise, using algo-based synths like Jura and OP-4 there's almost no RAM usage. You'll run out of instrument slots (8) way before your RAM. Hope that alleviates your worries ...

      It's a lot packed into one system. There's a little bit of a learning curve but once you start to understand the workflow it begins to click. Just dive in and press buttons. if you need to figure something out there are tons of videos specific to what you're looking for and the manual is a good reference as well

    All the djs...djs cool down calm down...we know this doesnt look like a dj setup but what he meant here is that the performance via this gear would sound just like a dj setup...u know..ppl these days love djs only..ppl have stopped liking live bands and even singers to some extent...this generation just wanna dance continously on a seamless non stop music for hours😅😅 very few ppl now even want to interact with the artist(s) and just listen and dance to "DJ music" for hours.. like not everywhere but in hell lot of places around the entire globe now😅😅😅

    The build looks all plastic. Is this right? This has less I/O than the Live2 and is there a SATA card slot? I can’t tell. Eh…

    • @josephkissel6062
      @josephkissel6062 7 месяцев назад +1

      It is. So is the $1,500 Key 61. I have one and it's absolutely fine. Since it's not the smallest (but small enough; it fits in my mixer stand), having it be light (8 pounds) makes it easier to lug around (and I do because I love using it so much no matter where I am in the house.) The I/O is fine and actually quite good for a $900 keyboard workstation. There is an SD card slot now. No regrets on my Key 37.

    Cool demo but dumb ass click-bait title. Who in hell would see a device with keys & think it was a DJ thing. It doesn't even have a crossfader like the Force. Plus who's to say a DJ wouldn't want this to make up for not having a device with keys & drum pads? FYI, as if you care, DJ's were the some of the first to make MPCs popular back in the 80's.
