I’d find a comparison of the contax and a ~£100 point & shoot camera interesting. I own a Olympus Mju 1 that I paid about 80€ for and would love to know how much better the contax really is compared to cameras in that price range. I understand paying more for better cameras but for the current price of the contax I would probably just get a good fully manual one or even think about saving up to get something like a Leica as they feel more durable than a fancy point & shoot.

It seems very overpriced. It was compared to an absolute barebones option here.

A lot of these cameras are currently very overpriced. I bought a T2 for £150 about 10 years ago and I used to pick up MJU cameras for £5 or free from charity shops and car boots all the time. I got about 5 of them this way but then prices shot up and it can’t be done anymore

Would be cool to see a comparison with another film camera, perhaps one that a friend has so you don't have to buy another. Found this super interesting though! I have a cute wee pentax espio 95s that I absolutely adore!

This was great! More photography challenges please!
P.S. my fave film camera is a canon 300v (costs a tenner on eBay). It's super light and pairs up with modern canon EF lenses so you can get some amazing shots with it!

I feel like it's a bit like comparing apples to pears, since the Contax isn't a disposable and the compared camera is. A more interesting comparison, at least for me, would be with a non-disposable film camera in a higher price range, or even close to what the original Contax cost, before the massive mark up. Then you can really decide if the price mark up is even remotely fair

Hey Lucy 💕 I'm a huge fan of you and your vids and I'm enjoying the film camera journey too! I got an Olympus AF-10 as per your recommendation and would love to see a vid comparing your two cameras.

Interesting, Like people said, would be nice to have a comparison with another mid-range camera. I got inspired by your film photography video and got a £30 Olympus OM10 which I've been trying out - with film it's a real hit and miss and I definitely messed up a couple of rolls. But it's such a cool experience and taught me so much about photography.

I think some of the difference is due to better exposure calculation on the contax, but probably mostly it's just having a much wider aperture (point and shoots are a fixed, very closed aperture). The results of the two would look much more comparable outside with more light.
But any 80s point and shoot camera will give you very similar results to the contax. My Nikon L35AF2 is awesome, for around £100, and there's loads of other similar cameras on ebay etc.

I love bringing a disposable camera with me when I travel - can toss it in my tote without worry! Loved seeing the comparison btwn the two film cameras 🎞🖤

I would recommend getting a cheap reusable one, the lenses are made out of glass which makes the images more clear and they create less waste. Most basic ones are plastic trips that can handle being tossed into your bag. Mine is an Olympus twin that cost about 16€ on eBay.

This was interesting. I'd like to know how much of the difference in colour etc was down to what I assume was better film in the contax. Also you can buy a minolta rz67 medium format film camera (or four...) for the cost of the contax, maybe compare those?!

I have a Contax T2, my friend has a classic point and shoot film cam. The difference isn’t $2000 let me tell ya. But as a film camera lover, I have no regrets getting the Contax T2. The body of the camera is beautiful and I always feel motivated to take it with me

A somewhat lower tier/mediocre point & shoot I got was the Olympus AF-1, for $100. And I bought a mint Contax T2 for $1,000. So it’s a diff of $900. And for me, WORTH it.

The disposable really did stand up fairly well to the expensive camera.
    The memories were captured..

I loved this video! 💗 so interesting as an experiment to have to waste a film roll in a short period of time and also to compare the results taking into consideration the focal length and the lightning. I have an analogue camera that was my parents’ in the early 2000s and I’m grateful I didn’t have to get one. Despite that, I forgot to bring it with me in my semester abroad in England so I ended up getting one at an antique store for only £10, it was worth it as I made great memories and took beautiful snaps from London, Coventry, Birmingham and Dublin 🥰

  • @beattle

I think maybe if you set the settings on the Contax to be the same as what the settings would be on the disposable it would have been a more fair comparison. The contax is so customizable the comparison just doesn't make sense.

  • @clarysstoryboard3317
    @clarysstoryboard3317 Год назад

Yeah, the Contax has better quality. Of course it has, it's worth like 20x of the disposable. But it's not 2000£ better quality.
Ngl, something being a Kardashian/Jenner thing is a reason for avoiding it to me.

I'm amazed that disposable cameras are still a thing that exists! I'd have assumed they died out in the last 10 years due to the rise of smartphones.

Where did you get the disposable? I’ve been using them exact ones for years and they’re impossible to find for anywhere near their original price now. 🥲
