I bought a broken T2 in 2012 for $50. I sent it to Contax in New Jersey, when they still did camera repairs. They fixed it for $75. The lady told me they replaced everything in my camera and that my camera is the last T2 they will ever fix because they ran out of spare parts. I’m constantly shooting it to this day and its still going strong. Great camera.

Reducing anxiety: 35mm film has approximately 24-37 shots. After those numbers reel in your film (whether manual or automatic) and you’re good! Love that there are more people getting into film photography. It truly is a wonderful experience getting back your first roll. Cheers!

From my experience, the T2 makes a great party camera. You just shoot and forget. It's also great for concerts, depending on what film you put inside it. As for the film rewinding problem, mines goes back in perfectly fine. Although now that you mention it, it makes me afraid it can happen to me. Given with how old these cameras are, the electronics are delicate and one day it will brick. Fortunately, NIppon in New York services and revive these cameras.
What’s your preferred film for the party candid P&S “look”? I was thinking Superia 400 @200 combined with flash would be the look but I’d love to know what you use

I used to have one in early 90S. It was priced US$1200-1500. I didn’t make good photos with it or I should say I’ve never learn to use it right…..I used Contax SLR before I brought the T2. Their lenses really performed in a different way.
The camera makes distinct sounds when it's rewinding and when it's done. If there's any question, take the camera into a dark bathroom before you open in up. My biggest gripes are missed autofocus, especially up close (you can also set the focus to avoid this), and not being able to manually select f/2.8. Otherwise, I've been shooting with one for over 25 years.
Thank you for a good video. This is the first video of yours I have watched. I too have T2 I bought many years ago before tehy became fashionable. Its a good camerra to use and the Sonnar lens is the best.

honestly, point & shoots are a beginner trap. You can buy an SLR for a quarter of the price! Good ones if you are interested are Canon AE-1, Pentax K1000, Minolta X700. Some even as low as 50 dollars! Although yes film stock is getting pricier and pricier, I feel that it's a good sign of film photography being revived!

@@advaitnawathe That's amazing! What kind of point and shoot is it if I may ask? As far as good and cheap film stocks, the most popular on the market for professionals (for good reason) is Portra 400, which goes for about 15 USD a roll. It's a color negative film (the film roll comes out with the colors reversed, so if you get it developed and scanned at a shop they usually reverse the colours for you). There's also Kodak Gold 200, ColorPlus 200 which are cheaper options for color negative film. For black and white film I recommend Ilford HP5 or Tri-X 400, black and white film is almost half as cheap as color film! There's a lot more you can explore, but I recommend starting there :) Also I recommend loading up a cheap film stock in that point and shoot and developing it, to see if it still works 😂
The only technical comment he makes in this video about the camera is wrong. When you select the "2.8" setting n the aperture ring, that does activate the auto-exposure mode, however the following remark that 2.8 is the working aperture only in dark scenes is fundamentally in error. That is because he watched other YT videos to learn about the camera rather than reading the manual. When "auto" is selected by setting 2.8, the auto program holds the working aperture at 2.8 so long as the shutter speed can take a properly exposed photo. This means that all scenes that can be shot at 2.8 are shot at 2.8, and if you want to shoot a smaller aperture, you select a smaller aperture to over-ride the auto mode. This also means that when exposing in "auto", you are going to get the poorest resolution possible and a lot of vignetting (corner darkening) that disappears at smaller apertures. The sample photos in the video show low contrast and very off-color cyan cast. That's not the camera. It' probably from using some cheapo Lomo film left to bake in his car for a couple of months.

Quite so! The Nikon 35ti is a bit sharper and has a more sophisticated meter system, but is hampered by a large collection of dials and controls which add nothing but complication to use. The Konica Hexar AF is a bit larger because the lens does not retract into the body when turned off, however its lens is noticeably superior to both the Nikon and Contax as well as a stop faster. Long ago I shopped and bought the T2, but in retrospect, I wish I had the Hexar.
Ikr? There is so many better cameras or even cameras the same quality that are literally so much cheaper... This camera being 1000+$ makes no sense. I've seen it even going for 3000$. That's some bullshit... If you really love photography and you are really into it you will invest any money into a good camera (if you're able to), not into a camera that a celebrity promotes period. You can literally do these shots with 20$ point and shoots lmao. You just need some experience and knowledge.

I've owned a T2 for 25 years, and there isn't a damn thing his clown can tell me about the T2. "This here is the turn on thingy." Give me a break in the hood, dude. It's a very good point-n-shoot camera. Compared to a reasonably equipped SLR, it's not even close optically. Lens made by Zeiss? Try lens made by Kyrocera in the old Yashica factory. Overall, it's an average lens at best and would not be tolerated in, say, Nikon's lens line up. Among small cameras of the same sort, the Nikon 35Ti is its equal, if an ergonomic nightmare to use, and the Konica Hexar AF blows it away. Wish I had paid more attention to the Konica before I bought the T2.
Rich kids toy, spending 1000$+ and having no gurantee it will work next week makes for a very foolish investment, even olympus mju/stylus which goes for 200-400$ is a risky buy
