I have a Model 57 that my father taught me to shoot when I was a boy in the 1970's. I took the rifle to the local indoor range last week. It still works like new.
HI, this is the first gun I've ever shot. My dad has a 57. I looked at it this past September when I was up at his house. I asked him if he wanted me to take it back with me and he said no. 😢 It was showing a little surface rust on it and I wanted to clean it up, but didn't get a chance to. I remember getting my first squirrel with this rifle, open sights, in 1976 I believe it was. I later put a scope on the rifle and used it a good bit to squirrel hunt with. About 10 to 12 years later I saw a KMart add showing a Model 60 for 60 bucks and I asked that my dad get me that for my birthday so that I wouldn't keep taking his rifle to the woods. I was worried about banging his rifle up and wanted my own so that is what he and his wife got me. I still have that Model 60 too. It has taken many a squirrel.
Thats a fun trip down memory lane! I think I heard you say in one of your videos that you are 58? I am right behind you, I will be 58 next month. I used to hunt with my dads mossberg 22 back in the 70’s and 80’s too. I still have that one too. You are very fortunate to have your dad still around. Mine has been gone for a long time.
@@WalnutandSteel I'll be 60 in May of 2024 (oh where has the time gone?) Yeah I lost my Father in Law ten or so years ago and that was a hard loss. I lost my step dad this past May and that was sad too. I am lucky that I have my dad and mom both. My dad is 88 and will be 89 this coming August.
That's a sweet rifle, she's a keeper. I wish to own a lever action someday. I do enjoy plinking with my tube fed Marlin model 88c, she's got a beautiful walnut stock, very accurate. Thanks for sharing
I picked a levermatic .22LR that was made for Western Auto supply. It was a bit neglected but i brought it back to shooting condition. It is a very acurate .22LR.
I have the 56 , 57, 57m, and the 62's (30 carbine, 256 win mag) The 22 WMR's were made for sears, western auto , J.C. Higgins. I have all 3 of those and the Marlin😮😂😂. The J.C. Higgins was made in 22lr also , I have it also. 44DL, and 44DLM the levers are chrome.
I had a 22 Mag version. Wish I never sold it. Haha. Yup 22 Mag is my favorite! ❤❤ Mine was plain looking. I also has a 62 in 256! ( shouldnt ta sold that either...)
I have on and live in GA if interested. It’s in perfect condition and is the same gun as shown in the video except mine has a gold trigger and stainless action
Nice Rifle Nibs That Short Throw Leveraction Reminds Me of My Savage Model 99 in .303 Savage It Also Has a Short Throw To Open and Close The Action I Wonder If Marlin Borrowed The Design On These From Arthur Savage 😀😀

Hello Friend, cool video. I have a 56 with with steel. I love it. It fires like it did over 50 years ago.
Just found a deal on one of these online in amazing condition. It is the J.C. Higgins model 44 DL.
I have that in 22 magnum, very very accurate, it will stay in the family, I bought it at a mom and pop gun store for 150.00
Great looking Marlin & hard to find. Like trying to find the Ruger lever action. They are a few being sold but will cost you. 👍

nice I am thinking that one is even more uncomon than the one I have.
@@WalnutandSteelmine is stamped as the Revelation model 115.
I have read that Marlin made a few store brands of these but I have never ran across one. thanks!
22 mag’s are very loud shooting,,,I shoot a lot of 22lr, very fun to shoot.

Local shop has a fixer upper in 30 carbine. Might try to fix it up!
I have a 57 m that I inherited from my father. like new condition.
Looks like a fine rifle! Nice offhand shooting. It's good to have an indoor range nearby. Enjoyable video to watch. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching!
Definitely a keeper
Thanks Jeff!
I have the 22 magnum version. I think they made it in .30 m1 carbine as well
I had 2 of the 22 mags great guns. A local shop has a 30 carbine version needing some repairs and I have been negotiating with them about getting it
I had a 57m. I regret trading it.
As much as I enjoy shooting my model 60 it's really hard for me to get a good cheek weld! And yeah glasses are a pain, the rim always gets in the way!
I’d love to find one of those!! Been hunting one for years. Great video Mr. Nibbs 🍻👍🏻

How much can you pick one if them up for these days?
If you can find one I would expect well over 500
Nice gun.
Very Cool 😎👍 Rifle Nibs!!
Thanks for the Video.
Take care and God 🙏 Bless ✝️.
Thanks!

No. The Marlin Levermatic is based on a keesler Lever Action shotgun.
The curse of bifocals and iron sights . . .
👍👍
What s the value. I have one. Micro-Groove Barrel
They are pretty sought after, the 22lr version can fetch 600+ sometimes more. The 22mag versions are more common and go 4-500
