Can I send you mine , all I want is a 20" on it but I won't complain if it comes back with a 24 , I love that you made this work this is one of my favorite saws to use
Idk if I'd run anything bigger than an 18. I've got the stock 16 and I've cut up some 24-30" plus logs with it. You'll do it, but you'll end up frying batteries doing it repeatedly because of the heavy load you're putting on it. Great mod for sporadic use though!
I tried a stronger/bigger 16" bar and better chain.I keep my 4 chains sharp with electric chain sharpener, rotate them and my m18 chainsaw goes really well. Precise sharpening is cool 😎 👌
Might be useful as a no bending limbing saw if that’s all you used it for. I have one and absolutely love my M18 chainsaw. For small jobs the convenience can’t be beat. I also hate the 3/8 LP chain. It’s known for jumping off the bar on the M18 saw when you use the tip to cut small scraggly wood like bushes. They all do it.
Buy the Oregon 18" 3/8"lp .050 bar. Not only do you get an extra 2" of useable bar, but you have way more choices of chain at 18" .050 versus the "stock 16" .043, including Stihl. The .050 chain stretches wayy less and you will get zero chain jumps. Highly recommend.
Blown, just kidding but it is nice to see someone else try that type of setup. I have a slightly modified Ryobi saw running a 28 inch bar with a 3/8th chain and plan to work on making a high power battery saw that won't struggle.
I want to try a skip tooth chain... Forgot to mention that and that even though it is hard on the saw, it's easier on the back and it's great for finishing hard cuts where you don't want to have a huge amount of power.
I understand that it doesn't run quite as fast in most circumstances as full chisel, full house chain, but I've been running Oregon speedcut narrow kerf on my jonsered 2245 (husky 445) and my Husqvarna 50. Even though it's semi-chisel it is exceptionally good cutting chain, and the fastest semi-chisel I've ever run and in true semi-chisel it holds an edge FAR better in dirty wood. AND it's narrow kerf .325 chain. It takes a narrower cut and the chain is lighter for less no load draw to begin with. I would seriously consider it if you plan to run .325 on this setup. It allows you to run a longer bar with similar cutting performance, that's the true benefit.
I run semi chisel on some of my saws. My main problem isn't with them not cutting fast enough, but with sharpening them after they have dulled. It's just so much easier for me to sharpen a full chisel chain, and so I don't mind them dulling a bit quicker. The sharp angles on a full chisel are easy to navigate. With semi chisel, the round corner always has me questioning if I got it good enough or not. But I am on my way to buy a 16" bar and chain for this saw right now. If they have a good deal on the narrow curf, I'll give it another shot.
they really nedd a dual m18 saw, the amp draw on this is crazy your going to be overheating those batteries left and right unless its below freezing outside. i overheat them cutting with the original bar and ~12" logs.
That was my main concern watching this, that he was going to kill the expensive battery, hopefully not start it on fire 😮 Worth seeing it work, though!!!
@@Chamdar17 thankfully the batt does have thermal overload shut off so if it does get too hot it just wont run till it cools off, not great for longevity but butter than a lithium fire.
@@kazadori164 yes, I pushed one of mine too hard and needed to disassemble and recharge the blocks individually because they became out of balance after that. All better now, but that thermal protection is a MUST 👍 if the protection were to fail 🔥
@@KollynJ I use an XTAR lithium battery charger at up to 3A, connect leads to the individual stacks of batteries inside the M18 cases. The cases come open by removing the sT10 torx screws. Once you have the cover off, you can use a multimeter to check the voltage on each stack or even each individual cell and find where it is out of balance, then charge that stack and move to the next until balance is restored. Once it has happened once, however, their is a good possibility that a cell is damaged and you'll have to repeat the process in the near future :(

Horrible idea. I just did this because I could, nothing more. I had to baby it through the cut with the 24", and it got very hot. Would not recommend it for actual use.
Be the new norm for California logging🤣🤣🤣
Yup. Two strokers for sale on Amazon won't ship to California.
That's why you use ebay

Such a good video, died laughing when you let go of the handle and it just face planted forward on the table.😂
The trick with battery saws is to keep the chain speed high
millwalkie has one if not the slowest chins speeds of all the battery saws.
true but also the highest torque.@@kazadori164
Now you have to try that on the new 20 inch coming out in August. They claim 70cc equivalent power.

Yep that’s exactly what I find.
it jumps the chain way to much I absolutely hate it for that just a pissoff

@novicelumberjack did you ever make the video on the 16” 8 tooth version?
@@edwardog.caamano13did you find it?
What did you ever find out was the best setup for this chainsaw? I’m upgrading mine tomorrow
I think an MX Fuel 24in saw is in the making, also a dual battery model
Hurry! I need one 😉
The MX line is going under nobody's is buying it, and I mean nobody
I wish they would make an mx 24" and an m18 20" like dewalt did
It's painless to buy bars and chains. The shortest bar is the most efficient and slapping on a longer bar for felling takes minutes.
Why you like buying Chinese owned tools you do know Milwaukee is owned by China 🇨🇳
Very nice. Id like to see it with the 8 tooth and the 16" bar. Bet it rips
Yup. Please do!
This is the perfect homeowner limb cutter. Will probably last 20 years as long as u don’t get Carried away doing things it shouldn’t be doing.

I've done some research on these battery saws. So far the echo seems to be the top saw. I have not test that yet nor am I going to.
