They used to play standards, beautifully sung, like this in grocery stores. It created a calming atmosphere, conducive to pleasant shopping. Today we have to listen to all kinds of noise blasting while we're trying to shop.
YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THE MOVIE! Wonderful flick. Romantic, comic, and a stellar cast with probably the best gentle indictment of the stupidity of war you will ever see.
I have to say i love all kinds of music, but I do love old classic romance as well and I love listening to Jack's songs even though it was 15 years before I was born and I'm 38
Jack does an excellent job, as does Frank Sinatra. "The Americanization of Emily" is a wonderfully romantic movie. The chemistry between Julie Andrews and James Garner seems real.
I hope you're with me on this but, this rendition of Jack Jones is far much better than Frank Sinatra. I'm always mesmerized by his soothing voice. Oh and btw, the movie's great!
Jack’s is definitely the best!! I have loved him since I 14 and now I’m 80!!! I consider myself to be an expert on Jack and no one can come close to his greatness!!!❤
I first heard Sinatra sing this gorgeous song, he recorded it twice. A lot of men did this song, but I think Jack Jones really does it the best of all. It's a lovely song! Thanks for posting this for us to enjoy. I never saw the movie but I would like to! James Garner is one of my favorite male stars.
+M.J. Leger I'm so happy you enjoyed this! You are very welcome. The movie is somewhat controversial but with James Garner and the lovely Julie Andrews in it, how could it be bad. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Jim
nipstertunes If you have not heard the Arturo Sandoval instrumental cover of Emily you owe it to yourself to catch it here on RUclips. Rather than using the trumpet he recorded it playing the fluglehorn. Mellow and dreamy beyond words.
jack jones is hard to beat on this one. even up against frank this is a stand out performance. jack had a way of being at a time when some great ballads presented themselves to be caught by the great singers and jack always did some of the most unforgettable renditions. the guy had a spectacular voice.
+Raymond Rivera heard it many times and have it on one of his cd'c i play on our stereo. the sound on the i mac is phenomenal. i agree but being a contemporary of jones i'll lean toward him. you can't really like one singer over another. it's like comparing human voices...we all have different voices and they are beautiful. thanks, raymond.
JAMES GARNER AND JULIE ANDREWS IN THE MOVIE, "THE AMERICANIZATION OF EMILY". ( WITH JAMES COBURN PLAYING A SUPPORTING ROLE)). IT'S A GOOD MOVIE. JACK JONES 'S VERSION OF THE SONG, "EMILY " , IS GREAT,#1
Not to take ANYTHING away from Jack Jones whom I adore. But do listen to Andy Williams doing this song. I think the two men are equal on this song. Check out the duets they did on Andy's show. I could listen to the two of them singing together exclusively.
LOVE it, Jim! Such a beautiful song, sung so beautifully by Jack Jones. I love Julie Andrews, but barely noticed her because--James Garner (swoon)! Love all the clips you used, especially 2:40. Thanks so much for sharing and brightening my day. Hope you're having a marvelous weekend, my friend :))
Adoro este filme com Julie Andrews e James Garner e esta música faz parte do filme. Ela é lindíssima. Depois deste filme, Julie e James fizeram mais dois filmes juntos.
Hi, Heather! I love this version of the song too. I rank it right up their with the Andy Williams rendition. Both are just great, I think. Thank you so much for the very nice comments and I am wishing you a wonderful up-coming week. Jim
WHY is it so hard to find specific videos on RUclips? , I typed in the exact song name and singer, the only results I got were prime drink, Gordon Ramsay, Star Trek, and political video's
Do nada. Quanto a música, na voz desse homem maravilhoso, Jack Jones, a música é linda.
Seems this tune can NOT be sung badly. The arrangement/orchestration often makes a difference. Try Tony Bennett with Johnny Mandel conducting...a knockout!
I just listened to Mr. Bennett's rendition and it is Super! I love the song and my favorite rendition is by Andy Williams from his "Dear Heart" album from the 60's. It never fails to give me chills. Thanks so much for your comments! Jim
Was talking to an older patient as a med student, and when I said my name he mentioned this song. So glad he did.
This beautiful song is a perfect vehicle for Jack’s smooth delivery. Julie, what a beauty.
Ray
A God given voice of shear quality!
They used to play standards, beautifully sung, like this in grocery stores. It created a calming atmosphere, conducive to pleasant shopping. Today we have to listen to all kinds of noise blasting while we're trying to shop.
The classic Jack Jones from the 60s never disappoints. His songs were a welcome diversion from many of the problems I had as a teenager.
I lived in Garnerville, up the river. Did you ever shop at Korvette's? Or Robert Hall? I remember hearing songs like this while shopping.
gosh i had fogotten about korvettes
BUT I WORKED AT ROBERT HALL. It was my first part time job in high school. Tha k you for reminder.
Magic Mr Jack Jones. xxx
simply beautiful song!
Jack nailed this one left, right and center...
A fantastic song, beautifully sung.
Love being emily .... the best 😁😍😘😘😘
Spencer you are so right!!!
Jack absolutely nailed it!
what a beautiful song!!! ❤️and although I have not seen the movie but by just seeing this clip I can say this movie is so romantic.
YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THE MOVIE! Wonderful flick. Romantic, comic, and a stellar cast with probably the best gentle indictment of the stupidity of war you will ever see.
Jack Jones is fantastic
His songs like this one

GREAT SONGS AND GREAT ARRANGEMENTS
JACK ALWAYS KNEW A GREAT MELODY..SONG AND ARRANGEMENT.
What a beautiful romantic delivery!! Nobody like him and loved the movie too when I was a teenager!! ❤💋🎶🎵🎼
I have to say i love all kinds of music, but I do love old classic romance as well and I love listening to Jack's songs even though it was 15 years before I was born and I'm 38

LIKE IT WAS WRITTEN FOR JACK JONES.
SOFT, SMOOTH LIKE "EMILY".
I have to agree, the song suits Jack better I think
Beautiful! Sounds more musical, like Mel Tormé.
Check out Jack Sheldon's version too!
@@FlowtnWitWalden Did Mel Torme record this song too? It would be a perfect song for that velvet voice!
Agreed! This is a much better version than Sinatra's. Andy Williams does a great recording of this song also.
Nailed it Bob....he's the best for this song, indeed.
I hope you're with me on this but, this rendition of Jack Jones is far much better than Frank Sinatra. I'm always mesmerized by his soothing voice. Oh and btw, the movie's great!
This and Andy Williams version are my favorites. I agree about the movie. Thanks so much for your comments!

+Richard Condon I agree. However I do like the string arrangement on Tony Bennett's version better. You should check it out.

great song by Jack Jones. Jim Garner who recently passed away called the A. of Emily his favorite movie because of its pacifist message.

can someone post a karaoke version of this song by Jack Jones! His version is the best for me!
Adoro este filme com Julie Andrews e James Garner e esta música faz parte do filme. Ela é lindíssima. Depois deste filme, Julie e James fizeram mais dois filmes juntos.
Considering how photogenic these two people are in this movie, can you imagine how much more photogenic they would've been in color?!!
Great movie and Emily played in the movie written by the great Johny Mercer
And Johnny Mandel
The Miller Music Corporation, an ASCAP publisher member, published this song.
´Jack Jones cantando linda musica do filme Emily de 1965.
