Hey Tim! Thank ya brotha. Great question. In this video, I'm doing my best to recreate what I already played on the EP I produced in 2020. It's from memory and listening to the song right before I did this video. To be fair, I played it down several times before posting this. Normally, when I'm hired to play on a song, I'll listen down and make a quick chart, then play it a few times. Sometimes on a band tracking date, here or in Nashville, we all listen and make charts or notes on the charts written for us. Then, we go play as band, making any adjustments to the arrangement or certain band hits or rhythms. As a session guy, I rarely, if ever, memorize songs. There's no time for that. It's all instinct and experience [and adrenaline] at that point haha! Hopefully it ends up being usable :) Anything you'd like to see me talk about or do on the channel? Love to hear about it, def helps. Thanks again!
Thank Ortho! I’m working on things over here haha. Planning to upload the versions with songs asap. Should be cool to hear them both ways. What’s shakin with you?
@@therealjonsmith1 down here in Oz Jon, trying to perfect my own hobby studio drum sound and came across your channel. Like your tuning and particularly your phrasing as much as I can tell. Will be great to hear your drum tracks against the finished recording. Keep posting…good work 👍
Thats the take
So clean! Great drumming!
Thank you ✌️🤓
Your Playing, Timing, Sound are incredible, Jon!
Hey Neto! Thanks brotha. Coming from you..that IS a compliment! 🔥
What have you been up to btw?
Awesome sound again Jon, love it!
Thanks Kevin! Always appreciate your comments. You up to anything fun?
Great playing. Smooth and steady tempo. How long do you have to learn a song? Do you read from a chart then memorize?

@@therealjonsmith1 Thank you so much for the reply, much appreciated. I'll be watching more videos in the future. :)
Great to see a top drummer actually playing a song and not all the “ Olympic “ drummers doing ridiculous
solos ,
Nice
Drum sound is sweet, nice solid playing 👍😎
