I am an Israeli, I was in hospital after giving birth when all of this started. Running to the shelter after birth with a newborn in every siren was very hard. Hearing the news after Shabbat ended was even harder...

Our local community here in California had a public gathering in front of the synagogue an hour before Services began and the Shabbat candle was lit. It was one of support for Israel by the public and local officials for the county intended. The church I belong to provided portable stage for the rabbi and audio visual equipment. Within a week our church sent $55,000 directly to Israel for supplies, reminding everybody that they are God's people. The rabbi who spoke at the Gathering reminded us to do good deeds in memory of the Dead and continue to pray, of course which we are as a Christian Community! As I told my Jewish friends, Hashim does not like evil and he will have the last word! Our prayers are with you and your people! God have mercy on all of us.
Chana, we are at a loss for words as well. I pray for the Jewish people, the displaced Palestinians, and my Lebanese Christian family. When will we ever learn?

Hi Chana, Thanks for posting. In the middle of all this hardship we have a Weddiing of my neighbor tonight in Jerusalem . A New Family Starting. that's how we fight back. Continuation. Learning Torah, Prayers, Tehillim. Thousands of meals are being prepared for soldiers, and families in the war zones. Thousands of bottled water is being bought for them, Toiletries that are needed, snacks and the best of all, Children and Parents writing to the Soldiers and drawing pictures for them, telling them how much we love them and appreciate their fighting in this war. That's what we are doing. Wherever you live in this world, teach your children about love, acceptance, stay away from Hatred. Pray for the Land of Israel. Pray for the people in Israel. Pray for the Jewish people all over the world. Rochel from Israel.

This is a horrible situation. I am not Jewish but my heart does go out for your people. My landlord lives in the US and in Israel and was in Israel when this happened. His nephew lives down the street from my husband and I is waiting to have to go over and fight because he was in the Israel military. This hits a little close to home for me because we are close to them.

As a 65 year old reform Jew, I feel as I am reliving my experience of growing up as a Jewish child in the 1960s. I know the history of Palestine, Israel, and the wars and conflicts from far back into history. None of that really matters. This is far beyond the conflicts of the past in Israel. This is pure evil , with nothing but hatred for innocent people. This has brought back such strong memories of feeling marginalized and hated in my life. I know it is not enough, but I am so so sorry. I have no words for what is happening. I am a Christian from Canada and I have been praying for all the Jewish people since this started. I know my friends and family are as well. I also heard that the Churches in my town are all praying. God protect you all and keep you safe in his arms. I’m also at a loss for words. When I read a father was relieved his daughter was killed and not taken hostage because it would have been a worse fate. My heart just broke. I’m catholic but I don’t understand how anyone could hate another so much to just kill at random. All my prayers are said for the suffering and innocent. My son is a SEAL and has been deployed. May his presence and those of his brothers help bring peace to Israel

Hi Chana, My family and I live in a suburb outside NY. We went to a vigil for Israel at our local JCC and although it was an incredible turnout, there was still a very lonely feeling to it all. My heart is aching for all of Israel and I am scared for my cousins who live there. We will get through this. We always do. Love, hugs and light to you and your family.

I am a Christian with Jewish ancestry who has lived a safe life in America for 57 years. My Scottish ancestors were banished from Scotland in 1685 for refusing to swear allegiance to a Papist king.
All of that to say that Religious Freedom is literally in my DNA. I have been praying for Isreal and your family there since I heard about the invasion. I feel guilty for turning away from the news coming from Isreal, but I know my own limits and I cannot handle hearing of the atrocities being committed against Isreal just for existing. Chana, when you said there wasn't 1 single thing that started this, it was started out of hate and evil, you are so right. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
