You need to be 18 years old and have a manual license, this is how we help people get in
Underground Training, does training for the entry level jobs that are in the Hardrock underground mining industry. You only need a manual license, you don’t need any equipment tickets as the employers we deal with have to issue their own onsite equipment tickets and procedures.
Those jobs are nipper, truck operator, service crew, paste crew, agi and offsider
If you type "underground" into seek you will see all the jobs come up. They also have a page that they load jobs on, you can apply for, on their site.
Employers are looking for entry-level people on most hard rock underground mine's around Australia. They all have the same problem, teaching someone to drive the truck is the easy part. Teaching them enough about how the mine works, so they can be left alone to drive the truck on their own, that’s the hard part and why there is a high turnover of new starters. Knowing how the mine works is a skill all employers need their employees to have (which most new starters overlook).
So, if you can show the employer that you know how their mine works and what's going to be expected of you working on their mine site, then you have something to offer them. Showing the employer that you know how the system works is a huge advantage and puts you 6 to 8 weeks ahead of everyone else they are interviewing for these jobs. When I say "system", I'm talking about the culture, language, employment process, everything that makes up the work environment. This is all about setting yourself up for success in the industry and being ready to be thrown in the deep end.
Below is the link to the DIY introduction to underground mining training package, there are full instructions on how to redo your resume (it takes about 2 hours to do yourself) and interview prep questions as well as a mining company to apply to directly. If you want your resume done for you checkout our 3 Step Plan package.
If you want help getting in, they also do a Workready package, where you get a ticketed WA shift boss to help you with the mining information, redo your resume, interview prep and come up with a plan of where and how to get in.
If you've got any questions or if you'd like to talk to someone, just let me know

How are the people that are failing getting to site in the first place if they didn't know how everything worked. Surely it would be picked up in the interview.

@@Pleaidian-z3x no they take them in green (no mining knowledge) and then train them on site and that's where it all goes wrong. People get into it without knowing anything about it and because the employers need people, they just hire whoever applies (in places like Perth and Kalgoorlie and Mount Isa) and pour people through until they get a few that stick
I've been watching it happen for 30 years and that's why I'm such a big advocate of the training because if you know how it all works before you go it just makes it so much easier for you and the crew that you get assigned to
Thanks for the question. Hope I answered it 👍

Are you giving training to international students?
I did BSc in Mining Engineering

@@SRTechnical0047 yes, there's nothing stopping you from signing up for the training
It's got all the information in there that they don't teach you in uni about how the mine actually runs and what they want out of their employees that do all the work
I thoroughly recommend mining engineers do it because if you come to Australia and you want to get your first class mine manager's ticket you actually have to do 2 years doing the crew jobs Underground before they let you sit it
It's the same if you want to get a shift boss's ticket. You have to have 2 years of practical experience as an engineer before you can sit the test it's the same if you want to get a shift bosses ticket. You have to have 2 years of practical experience as an engineer before you can set the tests
      Hope that answers your question

@@SRTechnical0047 The only way to get on-site training is to get a job
Our training is the only non-company training available to the public that actually teaches you how it all works The only other way to get the training is to get a job and do it on site. That's why we wrote our training back in the day as shift bosses. We just got sick of having people turn up not knowing how it all works. So everything that they show you on site, is included in the online training
Teaching you the practical sides of the jobs is very simple and it doesn't take very long, however teaching you what everybody does around you, and what's going on. That's what everybody struggles with, especially the engineers
But if you're after on-site training, the only way you're going to get that is if you get a job and then it becomes sink or swim training. You either get it or you don't. And if you don't get it, you'll be out the door without a job
That's unfortunately the way it works
      Hope that info helps
