I doubt that they will be able to reliably detect and track a target at that range tbh. It's one of the major flaws of hypersonics that I always say. The extreme range will give the defenders a lot of time to break the kill chain i.e. break lock, kill whatever's targetting them etc.

I may be wrong but I thought that Indian Rafale's had Meteor and Mica and that Derby was used on SU-30 and MIG-29 with a mix of it a R-77 and soon Astra, so I dont think Derby would be the only missile used, but I know how hard it is to set up regular DCS without mods so this battle is still really great.

The reported speed of Brahmos is 3-3.5 mach and not mach 2.0 just, 2) I don’t think the Israelis have permitted the Derby’s to be used on Sukhois so that’s wrong and the flankers would be carrying Indian Astra instead. 3) Brahmos is a joint indo Russian project and the missile is named after the initials of the two country’s major rivers I.e. Brahmaputra of India and I think Moskava or something of Russia( so it’s not a sale of kh61 version)

Man kh61 or p800 is as different from brahmos as su27 is from su30 and su35. Russia needed range of 800km hence less speed of 2.5 Mach whereas India's enemies are near so don't need much range and rather opted for speed with min 2.8 mach to 3.2 mach but with 450 km range when launched from ground, sea and from submarines underwater and 600-700 km when launched from air. Russia don't have air varient or p800 could easily reach 1000km. So, different demand hence different product but of same family.

I just watched the video about the dust up between China and India over some contested mountain territory. None of them had rifles or any firearms, just clubs and fist. Now THAT is old school combat! But those small skirmishes are what lead up to full scale battles like we're watching here. I get the magazine Proceedings and they have had several military analyst that believe the next conflict will be between India and China. Territory, resources and trade routes.

    • @cassius_eu5970
      @cassius_eu5970 Год назад +2

I doubt that luckily. These small border skirmishes have been going on for over 70 years and have never escalated beyond small scuffles and unarmed fist-fights. The current border between China and India was unilaterally drawn by the British during India's colonial period, without doing an actual survey of the area. China and India later disagreed on this British-setup border, and India gained control of Arunachal Pradesh while China gained control of Aksai Chin.
China is proposing a settlement of the disputes, with China giving up claims on Arunachal Pradesh and India giving up claims on Aksai Chin, meaning that both countries would simply acknowledge the reality of how these territories have been administered ever since the areas had been liberated from British occupation. However, India has so far refused. I suppose this is due to domestic political considerations, but considering that these areas are of little value anyways and that one de facto already belongs to India and the other de facto already belongs to China, it would be such a simple solution to ease tensions. Hopefully, cool heads will prevail and agree to a peaceful compromise.

Instead of fighters the drones would do the reconnaissance so loses will be lower and small drones would be harder to detect.
And plus the land based air defence systems like akash , Barak-8, s-400.

Cap: "If all those Brahmos' had gotten through everything would be dead." Maybe, if the missiles locked onto different ships but the ones that did get through all went for one destroyer. We have seen that a lot of these naval battles where many missiles will get through but will slam into the same ship over and over turning what would have been an annihilation of a fleet into a much smaller loss. I think one thing these Wargames have shown us is that having anti-ship missiles that can communicate with one another and deconflict/spread out their attack on multiple ships is absolutely essential in the future. I've learned a lot from these simulations. Very informative.

A Request and few points I like to add.
A video with defender and attacker reverse role.
Its highly unlikely for Chinese navy to be in Indian Ocean. Rather Indian navy in South China sea since China has neighbors are their enemies and friends to India.
Usually defender are more in numbers especially in case of navy operations.
Also you gave Chinese navy future capability where emals equipped aircraft is operational. But for India you didn't equip them with present capability since you missed on Astra 1,2 bvr missile, brahmos missile with lower speed and range than actual and even greater capability in testing, and are other anti ship missile.
Plus anti ship package are always guarded by other fighters.
There a slim chance of 3.5 + mach air breathing brahmos be shot by 4.5 + mach pl15 in tail chase mode and that to at sea level where aircraft is below mach 1 so pl15 would need time to reach its maximum speed.
Important note: whatever Indian import from foreign country is highly customized than original equipment so its better than equipment operated by that foreign country be Rafale, su30, apache or brahmos.

@SHASHWAT SINGH Bro, if the Su-30MKI is carrying its Israeli EL/M-8222 Jammer, opposing fighter cannot fire until the burn past its jamming. That’s around 100-80 Kilometers. Thus, even if the opposing fighter is carrying that PL-21 missile, it will still not be able to use its range advantage. But it’s heavy weight will not allow it to maneuver. Contrastingly, India’s light and fast Astra Mk1 can easily shoot down the opposing fighter. That is why it makes such a big difference.

If Ukraine was possessing nuclear weapons able to survive a first strike, Russia would not have dared to invade it. Same is going to be the story with Taiwan. As for India it should invest heavily to be able to obliterate its enemies in a second strike. If that is assured no country on planet is going to attack it in the first place. Waging a conventional war under the nuclear umbrella is feasible if one side does not possess nuclear weapons or if their nuclear weapons are wiped in a first strike.

Current US simulations show that 1 Brahmos has about a 35% chance (the best of any simulated threat) to get through the defense network of 1 unsupported Burke class destroyer, so a 053C of the PLAN would do just a little worse.

Brahmos’s maneuverability was taken into account and was why it was estimated to have a 35% chance of breaking through a Burkes defenses, compared to say P-800 which was estimated to only have a 12% chance. The Burke is almost certainly the best defended destroyer on earth so the fact that Brahmos was this effective is testament to how lethal it is. The USN considers Brahmos the deadliest AShM on earth and this is why during joint IN and USN drills they love to both practice against Brahmos equipped ships and do this cool offensive defense thing where they pair a Burke up with a Brahmos equipped ship.

I have a question, if an air to air missile can destroy a supersonic cruise missile then why can't a surface to air missile ( installed on ships). Ships have better radar than planes and the cruise missiles are even moving towards the direction of ships so it would not be hard to destroy that cruise missile because you are not chasing the supersonic missile (You are just hitting it nose to nose so not much to ask about velocity of both missiles) . And also the cruise missiles sea-skimming capability( capability to hit the target while staying about 5 meters above the sea with supersonic velocity). If a cruise missile is sea-skimming then the air to air or surface to air missile would have it hard to destroy that cruise missile as the air would be dense near sea-surface and would affect AAM or SAM missiles velocity and radar tracking.

Cap, not good! Indian here is really small than chinese. When india know they have a carrier strike group in Arabian sea, we would send a much higher strike package than 26 planes!! We have naval assets and pretty modern of those.
We have astra AAM too. Why didn't you include it in here? Brahmos has actually a longer range than 300 kms. And also we have more planes than which can carry it. Also more land based missiles which can attack CSG of china. Pls model a bigger battle with more research next time

China is closing in on India after establishing ports at Gwadar in Pakistan, Hambantota and Colombo in Sri Lanka and soon it will have access to the Indian Ocean from Myanmar’s Yangon Port .
