You are the best rice cooker presenter i have ever met on RUclips, ever since i have been watching several videos on how to use a rice cooker I hope you get paid for THIS
I noticed from the comments not everyone listened to you. From what you said 3 cups of rice needs 3.5 cups of water. From your instruction 4 cups of rice would then need 4.5 cups of water. I think I understand it. It sounded clear to me. Thanks for the information.
Great video thanks. 1. Wash the rice twice before cooking 2. 1.5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice so you need 4.5 cups of water because I see the rice is under cooked because of no water. 3. To know if the rice is cooked well, it should not look crispy and take few and press it with your fingers and it should crush softly. Thanks again ! I opened to see how to use the cooker 😅
Just been given one of these. Three small books in ten languages on using it safely, maintenance and service guarantees but nothing on how to use it. So thank you for the video.
Although I appreciate your video, and the fact you care enough to share, I would like to point out that as long as you use a regular measuring cup for both the water and the rice, the results will be the same.
We have an Aroma Rice Cooker and have done the same method as you have in the video and rice has cooked for an hour and rice is crunchy, water is still in the rice, and this is a brand new cooker. We get lucky sometimes and have good rice but mostly this is what we get.
it's good to always wash ur rice to clean it..twice is good and if you want ur rice to cook faster put in hot water in instead. you can also cook quinoa in a cooker.
I'm a bachelor and VERY incompetent with cooking so eat out though still eat quite healthy. I love love love rice and yet I never make it because i suck at cooking and am too lazy to even stir rice. I LOVE the rice cooker i got. How could i possibly have not gotten it sooner? LOVE IT! thanks
I got mine at BBB awhile ago, and it was priced between $30-$50. If you don't want to invest a lot in it, you can try yard sales, flea markets, Goodwill stores, etc.
I appreciate your video. Very to the point and concise. You lost me on the water measurements though. I heard you say that every cup of rice needs a cup and a half of water. You used three cups of rice, so I expected you to use four and a half cups of water. Am I mistaken? Thank you , Donny Zarra
+mekeon I would add the butter after you have finishing cooking the rice. The rice will still be hot, so just add your butter to the pot. Close the lid for a few minutes, and it'll melt pretty much right away. Then stir it in, and take out your rice.
Maybe she's from a place with a (Different Measurements System)? UK or Australia maybe? Maybe even (China)🤔 Good deal for sharing though, and unusually us more water per cup anyways, also adding butter, salt, herbs etc. Then usually end up pan frying some of it with Eggs and either chicken or beef base along with pulled chicken, beef or even Turkey and frozen mixed veggies!🤟🙏🤗 Diane
I usually rinse my rice. I also use a rice cooker. But the way I make mine is I measure 4 cup rice rinse it clean put it in the pot. I measure my 4 cups water boil it separately then add it into the rice cooker. I add salt and light olive oil. Set it to cook. My rice cooker has a glass lid. I watch till water is absorbed and I give it quick good stir and put the lid back and finish cooking. Mine come out perfectly cooked
I would definitely want to rinse the rice before cooking it. Before it gets packed, it lies in storehouses in huge piles and the rice at the very bottom is on the concrete floor full of dust. Also it is good to pre-wash the rice as the water helps cleanse it from some starch. And I would put in a little bit of salt too. But thats me. Someone else may prefer it in a different way and I respect it.
Appreciate your video soooo much! I bought a black n decker rice cooker/steamer for $20 at Walmart and the directions were clear as mud!!! Thanks again!!! I hope mine works as good as everyone else's seem to! Do you know how long for 4 cups of rice? And would I add 4-1/2 cups water ??
Kuntry, I don't know what the times are, as easy cooker is a little different, but it should be automatic. The cooker will tell you when it's done. You can try timing it from when you turn it on to when it beeps at you, so you know the length of time. And YES, for 4 cups of rice, you want 4-1/2 cups of water!
When I'm actually making my meal. I cook a lot of rice at one time so I can use it for different meals. The spices won't also be the same, so I wait until I'm cooking to add it in.
I believe you need to wash the rice after soaking it for 10-15 mins. Then use a ratio of per cup rice to 1.5 cup water. As for rice cooker, I bought so many before and found Tefal Rice Cooker Steam IH 1.8L Plus GWP Tefal Duo Pan to be the best. Cleans easily, doesn’t leave smell and you do not get crust at the bottom of the pot like other rice cooker does. This one come off clean all the time.
+Morgana2390 Unfortunately, the lid doesn't come off. Rinse it with a soapy rag right after you finish cooking the rice. That way everything is moist and cleans better. If you wait until it dries, its harder to clean off.
I just got an Aroma 20 cup rice cooker off the clearance shelf at Target. I have been wanting one. It is great! Now I am looking for a good rice cooker cookbook so I can use it for other things. Any ideas?
Thank you. I did do that, but I couldn't find one that suited me. One is for the fuzzy logic cookers, which I do not have. I will keep looking. I am sure I will find one that I like.
What if you were making white rice with a measuring cup (not the one that comes with the rice cooker)? I do 1 1/2 cups water for each cup of rice an domes out a bit soggy. What would you suggest?
If you're doing a regular cup, you can still make it work. However, the key is do NOT put in 1-1/2 cups of water for each cup of rice. Check the rice-water ratio in the comments below. If you put in 2 cups of rice, you put in 2-1/2 cups of water. If you put in 3 cups of rice, you are putting in 3-1/2 cups of water. However much rice you are putting in, you put in the SAME amount of water, plus 1/2 cup. It's not a true ratio, and this is where people get confused.
Thank you for the video. I apologize on behalf of the people who are writing arrogant comments. Obviously, if you are an expert Rice Cooker Operator, then this video is not necessary for you.
I have the same rice cooker but lost the plastic cup. If I just use a traditional measuring cup, how much dry rice should I add to make it equal to the plastic cup?
I had gotten one as a present several years ago and returned it to the store because I didn't cook a lot of rice. But once I started cooking more rice, I wish I had kept it so I didn't have to buy a new one!
I only checked this out coz I bought a mini rice cooker for myself off jbox, a japanese goods site and the instructions were in japanese so I think this helped! I never want to use a full cup of rice, so would a half cup of rice need 3 quater water?
MiuNya, According to my rice cooker, If you are doing 1/2 cup of rice, you would need 1 cup of water. If you are doing a mini rice cooker, the proportions might be different. But I would just try it and see what happens.
WOW that's a big rice cooker. 2X the size of mine! BTW: you don't need to use the cups a cooker comes with - just so long as you maintain the right ratio of rice to water. You can use any size container (I often use a large glass) just so long as you use the same container to measure your rice and water. Mmmm, think I'm going to go cook some quinoa now... :)
I own the same exact model rice cooker but every time my roommate or I use it to make rice it comes out bad. The top layer/center of the rice is mushy/watery and the sides and bottom are crusty, solid, and hard. I've tried brown rice and white rice with different measurements of both water and rice. I have also tried rinsing the rice and different brands of rice. The only one time it finished cooking right was when I checked the rice while it was cooking and stirred more water in it every ten minutes(I almost burned myself doing this). Only for it to come out bad a few hours after leaving it alone when it finished cooking.
Thanks for the vid! Did you ever tried basmati rice on that machine? because i think basmati rice needs less amount of water to be ok... just courious because i like basmati a lot and i am thinking on buying one of these cookers. Thanks;)

Nice simple video-thkx! (P.S. : check your math, 1c rice/1.5c water... 3c rice x 1.5 water = 4.5c water). We make rice every day on the stove top: rice + water 1 knuckle above the rice.
