I saw Randy with Ozzy in 82 that same day he did the guitar seminar. My mouth was wide open deer caught in headlights. He was amazing! My playing changed that day.
Massive Randy fan since the early 80s. You have done an incredible job of capturing his tone. Amazing work!! Would love you to do early Ty Tabor from the first 2 Kings X albums.
Zakk was using EV speakers for quite a while. He used a JCM800 4010 combo i the studio when he cut no rest for the wicked, he was nice enough to sign my 4010, we've met hi. Twice and he's been nothing but a sweet guy. Honestly one of my favorite Zakk tones or sound is from his Pride and glory era.
If only that could help us to play like Nuno! He is undisputedly one of the greatest of the greats. I love this clip of Brian May talking about the Get The Funk Out solo: ruclips.net/video/fqkKFhFMaIw/видео.html
I would think, instead of a NUNO tone exclusively, one could do an ADA-MP1 pack, complete with Nuno, Vito, Skid Row, etc... and other classic guitarists who innovated with the ADA MP-1.

Jim your profiles are the best. Crazy tone and accuracy. Can you please make more artist copies like this one? Guns and Roses, Dokken, Def Leppard, Zeppelin, Poison to name a few. I have profiles of these from other sources but nothing sounds as exact as what you make. I own all of your "Artist Profiles" other than Queen which although am not a big fan of, may still might purchase. Thanks for what you do!!
Dude outstanding video. Never seen your stuff before but great job and great playing. Those speakers do make a huge difference. I heard EVH used to use two greenback and two jbl for that tone. The jbl sounds horrible by themselves but with the greenback together they were awesome.
Very cool videos. I kinda do the same thing at developing my own sound and rig, I strive for depth and quantity, I grew up on Boston, Van Halen, Randy, Scorpions Journey etc. Lots of Vocals and Keyboards. My current rig is My Jackson with the Roland GK-3 and TC Helicon VL3X. I split my Guitar output with Hosa TSF to FTS running one to my VLX3 and one to my Boss GT-100. This way the Jackson Guitar is controlling the guitar independently, While the GK-3 is controlling my GR-55. The other split goes to my VL3X for even another guitar sound and setting my Vocal Harmonies. This took 3 years to figure out an easy solution, It became running my GR-55 Guitar synth headphone out to my AUX in on my GT-100 and the split to VLX3. Now I can play the Pipe Organ intro on Mr. Crowley and the guitar parts with it. Or, Jump from EVH with a Juno or any Poly 80's sound, or any inst. I choose. Even like Marimba's or steel drums. I love it. I love to produce sounds. Perflexion Records and Movies is a blast. My keys are the M-AUIDO Hammer 88 weighted and M-AUDIO Key-station49, DAW Logic Pro 10. Interfaced with Behringer UMC404HD. I will be back to watch your library you play great. Cya.
First person to correctly pick up on the speakers, he thought the distortion plus and Celestions was "too muddy" hence he re booted his cabs with Altecs (Santana also liked this speaker)
I rem reading in guitar mags back in the 80's, Zakk saying he used Electro Voice 300 watt speakers. I just googled it to double check the wattage and I see he has a Black Label signature EV 300 watt speaker now. But again, he's been using them since the Ozzy days. Ironically, In one of those old interviews, he was saying how there's no mystery to getting his tone and that anyone could get it. All you need is ... Les Paul w/EMGs, Boss SD1, JCM800, and EV 300 watt speakers. But great job none the less. Btw, your Brown Sound patches are so good, it's scary! I think Eddy himself would get goosebumps playing those patches. Rock On!
He didnt use that in the studio though (EV speakers). I assume he used V30s in a marshall cab. He ran a 1x12 JCM800 to a marshall 4x12. The EV didnt come in his gear until he toured and kept blowing speakers because he was running so much power. So for the first record no EV for sure. But maybe after? I dont know.
@@cap217cap217 Yeah, I'm not sure what speakers he used on No Rest. Btw, I knew the story about the 1x12 jcm 800, I was just commenting to his statment that Zakk used t75's throughout his whole Ozzy stint. I know that's not true. Btw, Michael Nielson believes some tracks on No Rest like Crazy Babies are the orig Lee Jackson rig and he does a great job recreating all those early Zakk tones. If interested it's "Big Hairy Guitars- Zakk Wylde The Shaved Years" (Sory, I don't know how to create links). Cheers!
@@t-boog2173 Whats strange is that the zakk marshall 4x12 came with 75s. Maybe they just threw them in there because they were cheap or there was actually a reason.
@@cap217cap217 Yeah Im sure they used the 75s cause they were cheap and cause Marshall had them in very large quantities. Also, I don't think any Marshall ever came stock with EV's let alone 300 watt EVs. Those spkrs are very expensive. But I do believe a great player like Zakk can make almost any average spkr sound great. Zakks hands + heavy strings + EMGs + Les Paul + SD1 + 800 + triple tracked parts = a HUGE sound with any decent speaker. That's my 2¢ anyway 😉
Oh man! How did you get away with this? I cover Ozzy on RUclips with his voice and my videos get ripped down almost immediately. Sounds great, anyhow. Cheers
This sounds more like Randy's tone than the Randy Rhoads issue amp from Marshall. At the same time it was a nice sounding amp ... there was no Randy vibes coming from it. I think you're right about those Altec speakers Randy used in his speaker cabinets.

Ok. I never liked the GT 75 ,but some guitar players like Steve Vai and Zakk Wylde get really good tones out of them. I’ve owned a couple of the old EV’s but they sounded dark to me despite having a higher frequency response than the Celestions. If I remember correctly the EV’s went up to 6k.
