The "common egg" that shows beside the pokémon att the menu just shows how many times you have hatched that pokémon, not the rarity of the egg you hatched.
Depending on the egg it gives you a pokémon with a specific starter cost.
Common: Pokémon with 1-3 in starter cost.
Rare: 4-5 in starter cost
Epic: 6-7 in starter cost (This is only where you can get Iron boulder)
Legendary: 8-10 starter cost.
