i read shark heart over the summer & it basically got me back into reading. i would go after my (horrible) job every day to sit on the beach & watch the sunset & read it. cried my eyes out in public, at the beach, while the sun went down as it finally ended. which was fitting but also heartbreaking.
The Legend and Lattes roast is so true though, the main reason why that book is so treasured to me is because I read both it and the prequel after finishing The Poppy War trilogy and I NEEDED something that would be low stakes and I could get emotionally invested into the characters without worry. It did just that lol
i read bunny recently, too, and the last quarter or so made me sob hysterically. like samantha’s loneliness is just so pervasive it literally felt like it had crawled inside my bones. it’s so relatable and made me so, so sad. (it’s also just a really cool book with some really fun ideas, but man, i wasn’t expecting the level of emotional investment lmfao.) mona awad’s writing style is definitely hit or miss for people but if you liked it here i think you’d really enjoy her other novel, rouge! it’s also super weird and creepy AND it’s a mother-daughter story AND it ALSO made me blubber like a baby.
“just mercy” sounds like exactly the kinda book i wanna read … and it relates to one of my favorite characters omg thank you for giving me a book to lose my mind to and better understand one of my favs …
The way you described the Freida McFadden book was absolutely incredible 😭😭😭 thinking while reading drops the ratings down exponentially even the writing is reminiscent of a first draft
Leaving aside the absolute brilliance of the content, can I say I love longer videos like this from Lexi? I rewatch old booktok videos when I’m falling asleep, and it takes me roughly 35-40 minutes on average. Longer videos like this are a perfect length. I don’t like auto play because ads and videos often wake me up, but Lexi (and Cari, from Cari can read) is my go-to because she has a soothing voice and no loud noises and is interesting even after several replays. So after I watch this once all the way through, it’s long enough that it can go on my playlist!
thank you so much for introducing me to Just Mercy 🙌 also legends & lattes TRUTH, I went so far as 2 stars 💀 could barely even feel the romance (which was devastating) appreciate your videos always !♥️
Hey, unrelated but I came across your "did it deserve five stars" video last week, and I was incredibly intrigued by the five star rated book "into thin air" because I had a special interest with Mt everest a few years ago. And I finished reading it yesterday and wanted to thank you for bringing it to my attention. It was so horrific and fascinating. I see why you rated it five stars and I agree. Thank you for that it reignited my fascination with the topic. ❤
Finally someone that shares my exact thoughts on legends and lattes!!!! I was sooo bored from really early on and I could not get into the coziness for the life of me! Also if you havent read Human Acts by Han Kang you absolutely NEED TO I just finished it and it has broken me in pieces and the way you spoke about shark heart I really think you would love it ❤
you are the first person i see with a correct opinion on bunny. thank you SO MUCH because it's my favourite book of all time and it's physically painful to see people trash it while completely missing the point
i have finally gotten out of a reading slump and have been reading so much more and it’s so rejuvenating, your videos have fueled this literary happiness as well🧘🏻♀️
The explanations for shark heart and just mercy hit…they hit so much so you best believe I’ll be reading both hopefully next year. (I have too many books to finish for this year but in the next I’ll be older and wiser and readier to read em)
You have no idea how distracted I became when I scrolled down to leave a comment, because recommended Shorts are all cute kittens~ 🥺 Thanks for your video, it's always fun to watch you and your reviews on books. And in general I love your sense of humor and way of talking💛
I didn't personally like Bunny, but it got me out of a reading slump after *such* a long time, so now I have a strange attachment to it xd Glad you liked it though, just today I was reading your review about it on Goodreads and honestly, your review summed it up pretty perfectly, even though our ratings were different :D
I highly recommend reading Anthony Ray Hinton's memoir "The sun does shine". It will make you made and so sad but you get Anthony's perspective on what happened.
I finally read a Frieda McFadden book for the first time. In fact I read two: "The Boyfriend" and "The Perfect Son"...and I kinda get it. Are they masterpieces? Heck no. Are they enjoyably messy and bonkers thus very fun? Yes. "The Perfect Son" had a twist I saw coming after reading "The Boyfriend" first, but her books are super goofy fun times were I can turn my brain off. Excellent video as always Lexi.
This is exactly what I thought about Bunny! I put off reading it because of how hard it seemed judging by the book opinions of people I follow that tend to align with my own but I thoroughly loved it because of how weird and blatant with its weirdness it was!
You're the first person I've heard gush about Sharkheart, which has been sitting on my shelf for months. Maybe it's finally time to give it a go because I really like how you described it.
ive also read bunny and bright young women this year (finished bunny this month actually-) and i loved both of them as well! you put my feelings for both of those books into words which is kinda crazy 😭 for sure gonna take your word for it and check out boy parts!!
i'm finally up and moving after being absolutely stricken down by Illness, and I can read more now that my brain fog is dissipating!! it was ROUGH there for a while, I totally get your feeling of being excited to read after some life hiccups...also I came here from watching another one of your videos ✨
I am on a reading spree after a...10 year slump? 😂 So, no comparing to others. Just because I read more this year than the last 10 years doesn't change that I enjoy reading. Just like other hobbies, it's okay to step away for a while. Especially with reading it's easy to get back into because it doesn't require a group or special equipment. ❤
I haven't read bunny, not yet. But your review (+ ig story) has convinced me to add it to my tbr lmao. mean girls but on acid is a psychotic (psychotic-good) way of describing a book. I previously had rhe impression that the book was just a collection of things happening for no rzn at all. Your comment on how it reflects female friendships + the getting to climb the social ladder bit does, however makes me want to read it more. thanks 4 the rec, love you x
Shark Heart is one of my Books Of All Time in the way that I can't say it's my favorite because the only time I've ever cried because of a book was this one (and I sobbed!!!!) and I don't know if I can ever read it again but it will live in my brain and my (shark) heart forever. I'll never forget how that book made me feel.
really like the video and i've also used notion before, but i wish the sponsor wasn't as focused on the generative ai part. also i really loved shark heart ^^
I listened to legends and lattes while building legos and doing puzzles and it was such an iconic experience, but I think you have to go into it with those low level cozy vibe expectations to get the most out of it. Also not you calling yourself an angst lord lmaoooo
Hey Lexi hope you're doing well! Just wanted to say if you pass by here - that i realy love your passion you have for reading, hearing you yapping about your interest is so interesting! :D
I haven’t watched yet but I can’t wait! I’m a newer subscriber and I’d love to see more of your reviews on horrible books “I read this horrible book so you don’t have to” they’re so funny! Thanks for the great content ❤
Man the universe knew i needed some serotonin
Same!!!
Right there with you, dawg ❤
That “hope you’re taking care of yourself” really get me taking care of myself
i read shark heart over the summer & it basically got me back into reading. i would go after my (horrible) job every day to sit on the beach & watch the sunset & read it. cried my eyes out in public, at the beach, while the sun went down as it finally ended. which was fitting but also heartbreaking.
WAKE UP LEXI POSTED!!!
right in the middle of midterms THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED
Same exam season is killing me😭😭Lexi knows how to cheer us up🫶
The Legend and Lattes roast is so true though, the main reason why that book is so treasured to me is because I read both it and the prequel after finishing The Poppy War trilogy and I NEEDED something that would be low stakes and I could get emotionally invested into the characters without worry. It did just that lol
omfg i also read these back to back and it was the reprise i needed after poppy war destroyed me
i read bunny recently, too, and the last quarter or so made me sob hysterically. like samantha’s loneliness is just so pervasive it literally felt like it had crawled inside my bones. it’s so relatable and made me so, so sad. (it’s also just a really cool book with some really fun ideas, but man, i wasn’t expecting the level of emotional investment lmfao.)

The way you described the Freida McFadden book was absolutely incredible 😭😭😭 thinking while reading drops the ratings down exponentially even the writing is reminiscent of a first draft
Your summation on Bunny is the best I’ve heard 👌🏻
I read bunny WHILE UNWELL with a temperature and let me tell you , it makes it 100% even more of a trip . Not sure I would recommend
I was JUST rewatching your Best of 2023 video to get some recommendations. This is wonderful timing.

AGREED about Legends and Lattes. I felt semi-gaslit over how well loved that book is.

I feel so validated that you also liked Bunny. I feel seen
Bunny & Shark Heart are 2 of my favorite books of all time and are so misunderstood, seeing you praise them both in 1 video is feeding me 🙂↕️🙂↕️
Finally someone that shares my exact thoughts on legends and lattes!!!! I was sooo bored from really early on and I could not get into the coziness for the life of me!
Also if you havent read Human Acts by Han Kang you absolutely NEED TO
I just finished it and it has broken me in pieces and the way you spoke about shark heart I really think you would love it ❤
thank god. I needed something to watch in the last few hours of work
shark heart sounded silly at first, but now i actually think it would break me if i read it (i’ve already placed a hold for it on libby)
I've been binging your past videos lately, and this was exactly what I've been needing.
Work became a second priority after I got the notification that you uploaded
Living vicariously through you while deep in a reading slump and also adding yet more books to the neverending tbr

I don’t know what you’ve got cooking for us but I’m excited and scared. Also feeling v validated by your Legends & Lattes rating.
I finished Just Mercy today, and it was so well written. I think everyone should read it.
You have such impeccable timing this is perfect since I'm infected with post-show sickness at the moment !! Thank you for your services❤
I didn't personally like Bunny, but it got me out of a reading slump after *such* a long time, so now I have a strange attachment to it xd Glad you liked it though, just today I was reading your review about it on Goodreads and honestly, your review summed it up pretty perfectly, even though our ratings were different :D

You helped me articulate my thoughts and put them into words so much better thank you Lexi!
Thanks for the update Lexi!!!
This is exactly what I thought about Bunny! I put off reading it because of how hard it seemed judging by the book opinions of people I follow that tend to align with my own but I thoroughly loved it because of how weird and blatant with its weirdness it was!
The way I shrieked with joy when the upload notification popped up

Omg! I finished the will of the many today. And also read 10 books this October. So, hey you're not alone😂
Lexi always posts when I need it the most
You're the first person I've heard gush about Sharkheart, which has been sitting on my shelf for months. Maybe it's finally time to give it a go because I really like how you described it.

The shame of not reading that much leaves my body as soon as Lexi says that it’s been hard for her too. Thanks, I feel seen.

i read Bunny last year and loved it!!!! I don't remember the plot at all but all I remember is that it was super weird but a fun read lol
I listened to legends and lattes while building legos and doing puzzles and it was such an iconic experience, but I think you have to go into it with those low level cozy vibe expectations to get the most out of it. Also not you calling yourself an angst lord lmaoooo
You really weren't lying when you said we'd be eating this month
Also earrings are on point as per usual :)
i missed you lexi aaaaa
Babe wake up, it’s not delivery it’s serotonin
RIPS MY SHIRT OPEN RAAAAAAAA YESSSSSSS NEW LEXI VIDEO
This is me finding out I’m in your inner circle of viewers because i actually re watch your wrap up videos while doing stuff
I was on the fence about reading Bright Young Women for a while, I think I'll pick it up finally!
You should try the Prequel to Legends and Lattes because it has more stakes and it also takes place in a bookshop. It may be more up your alley.
BABE WAKE UP NEW LEXI VID JUST DROPPED
Me watching Lexi talk about Bunny while I finish my Halloween costume (going as one of the Bunnies)
11 books girl!!! Good for you!
Lexi posted!!!! I am now cured of my crippling pain and self hatred for the next 40 minutes!!!!🎉
Hey Lexi hope you're doing well!
Just wanted to say if you pass by here - that i realy love your passion you have for reading, hearing you yapping about your interest is so interesting! :D
I’m legitimately excited to hear your opinion on Bunny. It’s my favourite book to hate.
I haven’t watched yet but I can’t wait! I’m a newer subscriber and I’d love to see more of your reviews on horrible books “I read this horrible book so you don’t have to” they’re so funny! Thanks for the great content ❤
