We had the honor to sit down with Abdirahman Warsame, who is a Peer Recovery Support Specialist and the Co-Founder of Generation Hope, a nonprofit organization formed by youth who’ve lost friends to drug overdoses.
In this episode, Abdirahman shares his past battles with addiction, and how everyday is a struggle for the youth in Minnesota in fighting against the stigma of substance abuse in the Somali community. He talks about loosing his friends over substance abuse, overcoming mental health, toxic masculinity and stigmatization in the Somali Community.

What a great reportage! What a sense of courage and bravery and what a life testimony! Therefore, congratulations to the filmmaker and to Monay Productions for once more releasing yet another extraordinary video.
This reportage is an awakening testimony for the youth and their families. It is a call to do more about this scourge, and as evenly important, to simply talk about it. As Mr. Abdirahman expressed it, the community must begin first to recognize the drug use is as an epidemic that is causing the death of so many of its youth; who nevertheless are bearers of hope and full of future, if otherwise one shows them the right path. But the community must be willing to remove the taboo, and talk about it first.
