    Bingo on the right foot in the center! Having been to John Powell's camps and using his instruction series, he heavily emphasized turning on the right. When he is demonstrating slo-mo and showing you drills, the right foot always touches with the toe towards the sector (I guess the point of him doing this was to really get you used to turning on the foot a full 360 with ground contact). However, when he throws for real, that right foot lands in the power position facing the back of the ring. I don't think I ever did break this habit.

    Hey Coach, My daughter and I have viewed this video countless times and she tries her best to mirror the Sandra Perkovic block the best she can and your analysis has made a monumental difference for us. This year she p.r.'d @ 135'4" and won the 1A state championship. Here is video of her p.r. ruclips.net/video/qSHAi2WtPPc/видео.html would you be so kind to take a look and give us your feedback on what we can do to improve for next season? Thanks alot, Ron Kirkland

    Is there any way for you to do a throwing analysis for me coach?

  • @BigSkyCurmudgeon
    @BigSkyCurmudgeon 6 лет назад

    explain why you favor the right foot landing at center at the 12 oclock position, as opposed to the 3-9 position and turning. coaching high schoolers i find very few can perform the 12 landing without dropping down on the heel which kills any further rotation of it.

    • @ThrowsCoach
      @ThrowsCoach  6 лет назад

      With regard to 12 o'clock position of right foot on ball of foot allows turning action on surface easier. Most young are not strong or athletic enough to perform task. Without discus ...get young throwers understanding ball of foot rotation in centre of circle. If you don't they will become frustrated quickly. (3-9 position not recommended ... too earlier or too late of a position to see successful turning in centre of circle)

    • @BigSkyCurmudgeon
      @BigSkyCurmudgeon 5 лет назад

      @@ThrowsCoach what we find is that young throwers lack sufficient leg strength to maintain on the ball when landing. they land on the toe but go flatfooted immediately causing body mass to shoot forward of center=and out the front for a foul...junior and senior HSers can do the 12 positioning, but its futile for younger throwers....

    She has no follow through here.

      What are you calling follow through? Spinning around after the throw?

    • @JohnSmith-gi7jw
      @JohnSmith-gi7jw 5 лет назад

      @@mrreams711 That's pretty much it. If she throws with full force she will automatically follow through. She not getting it all.

    • @mrreams711
      @mrreams711 5 лет назад +1

      That's not accurate. The left side block is there to do the exact opposite of what you are describing. The intent is to bring all of the body's momentum to a sudden halt therefore transferring all of the body's kinetic energy into kinetic energy for the discus.

      @@mrreams711 LOL tell that to all these guys! Everyone of them follows through. ruclips.net/video/4F9YhsDsRIM/видео.html

    • @JohnSmith-gi7jw
      @JohnSmith-gi7jw 5 лет назад

      @@mrreams711 Kinetic energy is energy which a body possesses by virtue of "being in motion". You don't want to stop your motion you just want to direct it to the disc.
