That's not a camera,it's the Detroit Assurance system. It has a sensor that controls your wiper delay and another one that's part of the collision avoidance system. If they have to change the windshield they have to take the cover off and take the sensors out of the holders on the windshield and after the new one is put in the sensors have to be recalibrated so the wiper delay will work. If the terminal shop guys can't do it then a dealer shop has to do it.

I’m with crete and I have a newer truck and that triangle light on the passenger side is annoying when In traffic and trying to change lanes. It turns red and makes a loud noise when cars are next to you. The only good thing about it is it reads your trl also. So it won’t go off till your trl is clear of the car next to you.

Kevin and Tanya I have a2023 like yours the opti idle runs on 4 or 5 batteries it's a electrical system heat runs on fuel from your tank mine starts when voltage drops to 12.5 volts and runs about hour and half to charge the battery so it's not like a pay it electric but once you get use to using it it's pretty effective and mine gets so I have to turn it down but it works ok you would prolly like it once you get use to it plus it saves fuel . No idle enjoy your videos be safe out there.

Hello you two, I really enjoy your videos. I'm currently a 22 year FedEx Freight road driver, so I'm home daily as I have an assigned route. I do miss the adventures of the open roads though, as I was once an OTR driver for another company as well. Anyway, I agree with you on that "Optimized Idle" in that it can be a bit hard on a good nights sleep. But unless something has changed in the way that system works in the last 20 plus years since I've used it last, once the cabin temperature is set to your desired number and the outside temperature isn't too extreme in the other direction, the truck will indeed start/stop as needed to maintain the cabin temp you set. But if the outside temperature is super cold or unbearably hot the system would default to continuous running (no start/stop operation) because the system recognizes (with a blinking temp icon on the display panel) it wouldn't be able to keep or maintain your desired temp setting without running constantly. Thats how they worked back then, but maybe something has changed now. With FedEx, our trucks will not continuously idle UNLESS the outside temperature is more than 88 degrees, or lower than 38 degrees, otherwise you'll have to tap the throttle every 2 minutes or so to keep it idling, but this is a completely different setup than what you have, although they have the same goal of no unnecessary idling. Good luck!

You might want to do the lease op. I had a 2019 Cascadia brand new with a few electrical problems like the headlights staying on all day, couldn't shut them off. The espar heater kept the bunk warm and very rarely triggered the opti idle. The summer once triggered it would run 2 hrs. Considering the Xmas fiasco of not getting home lease op may be better except all the IRS 💩 you have to deal with. When I returned the truck I had problems with the Omnitracs screen going blank🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. I'm retired. Nightmare😱😤

Way to stick up for yourselves! I love to see when people don't take the word of someone who doesn't actually know what it means to be on the road, and whose job is to just get the paperwork signed and get you out the door. Sounds like that tech just wanted to "kick the can down the road" and make it someone else's problem (including yours.) You know they would have said, "Well, you accepted the truck." Good job. Hopefully someone will fix that problem. Asking you to head out into the winter without a heater is criminal.

I like to see Crete do I sleep study on a driver that has a truck that turns off and on all night. I bet there isn't much REM sleep there. I have had trucks with out the bunk Heater and they run more to charge the batteries than throw heat. I don't turn my bunk heater on at night until it is 20 degrees outside. Truck stays between 60-65 degrees in bunk. Everyone has different preferences on temperature and should be able to set how ever they are comfortable to get a good nights sleep and be an alert and safe driver.

That truck (prime mover) would not comply to Australian standards. The prime mover has no clearance lights and the tail light have to be within 30mm just over an inch from the side of the truck. In Australia we don't need heaters we have air conditioning that cools the sleeper cab while stationary as the temperatures at night can be above 80 deg Fahrenheit. These A/C units are generally run by a small engine mounted to the chassis rail or a set of batteries specifically for running an A/C unit.

That was very strange that it did not come with all of the Heat or the ......bar.....whatever its called. The 2019 that you were in also had the sbar heating system. They didn't have it all installed so your truck would have to run on and off on and off which is not what you would have expected. There's not much difference between 2019 and 2023. Mainly it's that side safety light and buzzer and the radio. And an engine that is almost new and transmission and suspension. Very little difference

Well golly i never had a new truck .But the ones i did drive were well maintained and never failed me and i was never an owner op. to much paper work for me .Like they say you need to know your limitations .but the truck company's i worked for and there mechanics always did me right .My favorite truck was an old cabover she was tired the doors rattled it was dirty every where there were lots of things that needed work but i needed a job and this was the only truck they had to offer but didn't want to put back on the road .We made a deal I steam cleaned the underside stripped out the interior cleaned it and put it back together i also opened up the dash and cleaned it of years of dust and dirt .all the while making a list of things that needed repair i couldn't do and showed it to the shop .He laughed and showed me his list for the truck from when they parked it they were the same we had a good laugh over that then told me to bring her into the shop an go away next morning i show up and she was ready to go .as i was putting my personables in the truck the mechanic told me he was surprised that the owner let me have this truck because it was his first truck and the one that started the company .It was an old white freightliner with a big cam Cummins 350 with a 13 speed .I drove that truck for 6 years .there's more to her and my story but that was my first truck and i miss her to this day .
