I will never understand why people go in not knowing how to swim. We see it at every beach across the world. Bondi lifeguards are exceptionally talented heroes
In other episodes, I’ve heard the narrator mention the person potentially being from an area of the world that doesn’t have access to ocean like current such as central countries. I agree, it’s silly to go into the water without the ability to swim, but maybe they just don’t realize how different the ocean and lakes can be.
Agreed. If you can’t swim, in the ocean, and aren’t familiar with it, you shouldn’t be in it. Stay on the shoreline. Irresponsible behavior around the ocean results in everything that happened in this video
*The daddy in Harries is coming out more and more. Ahh the Terry clips...definitely had great dad vibes. I hope he, his son, and my son have met already in spirit. I hope they've all met Steve Irwin, too.*

I watched bondi all through college while doing homework (it’s the best study aid!) and now my mom and I spend every Sunday rewatching episodes together. I love seeing the notification for each new upload!
It truly blows my mind how egocentric and foolish people have to be to choose not to listen to professional lifeguards. Like, don’t you understand that they watch this beach every single day and understand the dangers inside and out?? You think you know better than them?? That’s absolutely wild.
As a haole I’ve had this happen to me. I was at a surf spot during a typhoon and I was carefully watching the ocean. I saw a huge swell on the horizon and tried to warn a local news crew of the wave about to come in. Being a haole they chose to ignore me. About 3 minutes later the wave hit the beach. The place the news crew was standing ended up about 3 feet under water and crew and their camera equipment ended getting knocked over and in the drink. Sometimes the haole knows what he’s talking about. 😂
Beekeeper here: They should have known to call the local beekeepers association, who would have sent someone to retrieve the swarm & bring them to a safe new hive location. Those bees were clustered around the queen to keep her safe while scout bees were looking for a new permanent hive location. Even when they all fell to the road, people should have stayed away until a beekeeper came, instead of driving over them all. What a waste.
couldn't agree with you more. as an Australian, we generally have an idea about dealing with odd animal situations & knowing to call for help when we're out of our depth, as evidenced by calling the vet straight away, but it really went downhill from there. i was really sad to see that.
@@cautiouscoyote8590 How “should they have known?” It’s not part of their core business and they can’t know everything. I agree it wasn’t the best approach but they already have to know so much about so many things. They are lifeguards first and foremost, who are doing their best to help out in other situations as best as they can but how comprehensive do you want the manual to bee? (pun totally intended)
I’m glad there was clear footage of the guy who decided to disrespect some of the most amazing and hardworking heroes in the world. People can now avoid him.
You guys need another jet ski and a self inflating tube to give to people who you triage as not the worst case on multiple rescues. Hats off to you all, what a fantastic job you do. ❤
Beekeeper here: That was normal bee behavior. This could have been a teachable moment instead of uninformed destruction. For whatever reason the queen & all the bees that were old enough to fly left an old hive & were temporarily stopped on the car until their scout bees returned from hunting for a new hive location. It wouldn't have taken much longer to wait. The scouts might have returned & they'd all fly off. Those bees on the bike's only focus at the moment was to keep the queen safe in the middle of the swarm. A beekeeper would have brought a box to put under the swarm & shaken the bike (like when the car went over the bump) so the bees would fall into the box. The beekeeper would have closed the box & taken them away to create a safe new hive. Please, if you see a cluster of honeybees like these, search out your area's beekeepers association. They are literally everywhere. They will send someone to retrieve the bees.
Rhe bees on the car weren't there for anything in the backpack. It was a swarm on the move to a new hive. There's a queen bee inside that mass of bees. Harmless when swarming. Not interested in stinging as there's nothing to protect, brood, honey.
NO way why do people just ignore people like you guys are there to keep them safe like its your choice wanna live or want to die they obviously chose die
really makes you wonder if there is an incentive for the life-guards to try to play to a more international group? They have to rescue them and if it would mean fewer rescues, have more multi-lingual signage or something? I get it is on the tourist to do their best to learn the local language but we know that is not and never will be the case with 100% of people...
There should be another sign saying that if you have to be rescued a second time after being told not to swim in the rip it will be a 20.00 fine !! Make sure the sign is big and easy to read !
and the man who was a good swimmer was totally right. Sometimes lifeguards behave as if the sea is theirs. If someone wants to be in the water they can be in the water. You can give advice, you can warn, thats it. You dont own the sea.
M 28 years old but i can't swim.... I can't even take shower i feel suffocate😢 i wish if i could enjoy like them😢 drowning in childhood traumatized me😢
It's a shame no one considered the bee's health and safety and didn't call an apiculturist to remove the hive and put it to good use. They left thousands of bees who, in spite of the rain, could sting people.
Bit of a dumb comment, considering Australia is a English speaking country, the amount of people who visit Bondi from around the world is in the thousands every year, the beach would be full of notices, also the technology on iPhones means you can get the information you need to keep safe, also just use your common sense when travelling in a different country.
The reason no one reads signs in Australia is because they are pure visual pollution, there's millions of signs, and almost all of them are lies. "20 kph" corners are never 20 kph. Until they are. You can take most 20 kph corners out bush at 100+ flawlessly. But then you'll hit the only one where it IS 20 kph and almost lose your life. So if anything, the signs lying to us forcing a complacency are MORE dangerous than they are helpful. Unfortunately even though there's MANY studies on this subject the signmakers and signplacers seem to be running some ponzi scheme for profit, not for safety.
People just don't care what the signs say !!! I can't understand why so many people are not thinking about their safety when getting into the ocean. And the parents who are not watching their children is shocking !!!
I’m sorry, FOUR DAYS?! It took four days for one of thousands of beach goers to even read the sign? You lads deserve better from the public you serve. I’m not even sorry. That’s unacceptable
The signs could confuse me. There is no specific instruction about what those dangerous currents mean in terms of where or when it's okay to swim. I mean just saying there are dangerous currrents in this area does not instruct swimmers how to go about approaching the water.
The dangerous current sign has an icon showing people shouldn’t swim. Tbh Australian oceans are dangerous enough that if you are anything less than an objectively strong swimmer, you shouldn’t go any deeper than your waist. Even if you are a strong swimmer, honestly if you haven’t grown up with Australian oceans you should only ever swim between the safety flags during hours when the lifeguards are on duty
