I know one thing for sure. The Harken cam cleats are way better than the stock ones on my muddy pro stick. The stock ones had some pretty bad slippage but when I replaced it with the Harken it was rock solid.

Cool video. This year I've been one sticking with one XOP X2 stick and a ewo ultimaider. Then hanging and hunting out of a XOP cold World. Hybrid style. love it. Entire setup is 15lbs with stand, one stick, 40 ft rappel, belay device, then I wear a turkey vest for all my essentials and don't need a Back pack. I often hike in long distances and hunt all day. Very comfortable to be able to face the tree in the saddle or use as a traditional hang on. I don't use a cam cleat. Just a daisy chain from Tetherd. I have a YT channel called on target Adventures. I'll be doing a full video on this set up in the off-season here. You should check it out. I'm loving this hybrid system.

I have the EWO one stick and a Tethrd Predator XL with a set of the EWO sticks. I like them both for different situations and different weather. I much prefer the platform for the foot room but if I am going miles back I like the one stick. Long sits again I refer the platform but hot weather here when I am only going to sit couple hours at end of day i take my one stick. Needless to say I like having choices.

    Good comparison.
Hoping for a review once you have a 4 hour hang on that smaller platform. I can't imagine hanging from my toes that long and the calf ache to follow.

I’ve just started running 4 new latitude carbon sticks, bottom stick with a 3 step aider and the rest with a 1 step aider. I can get about 20’ with 3 sticks but carry 4 just so I can go higher if I need to. If I don’t use it as a stick then I’ll hang the 4th one to the left of my platform in lieu of a ring of steps. That’s the fastest setup and take down time for me that I have found. I’ve not tried a true one stick with an attached platform though.

Love the video! Why the wingman over EWO or similar onestick? Been looking and shopping and wondering how you made that decision. Im considering the Tethrd One and the .75 hybrid. Great video!

It was cheaper to buy the wingman and add the components than to buy the EWO

A fair comparison, however if you account for the extra 28 seconds taken tying off to the tree on the right the time becomes basically equal. Beyond that, one should compare the heavier weight with the included platform with the extra weight of carrying a separate platform (something I would certainly consider). An old adage which applies her would be if it's 95% human and 5% equipment you want the best 5% you can get. Sure, you could lose 5 pounds, or you could gain 10, but that equipment will still weigh the same.

I would go with the wingman more room for your feet and better for hunting imo. I have a homemade 1 stick with a cam cleat no platform on it. I tried the 1 stick climbing but I sweat my butt off doing it maybe cause im 46 and not in near as good a shape as you. im also not your size im only 190 pounds 5'11...
im looking at the new pantherplatorm or the broadside climbing platform to climb with like my summit days lol... I like a big platform and use the tehered preditor XL right now. im gonna look into that wingman and see if there bigger platorm will go on it somehow... good luck man nice video as always God Bless

Pair the one stick with a ring of steps and you’re golden🤙🏾 I used to sweat a ton when I started one sticking, but I think that was because I was nervous. Now I’m doing it with ease

Never having done this I would think having the large platform would make it more comfortable and safer? Even if it took another 3-4 minutes? Why wouldn’t you want better footing?

I have tried the Tethrd climbing sticks and did not like the foot room on them. I always get a kick out of watching you climb with crocks on. I like the idea of the super light stick but me personally would have to have more foot room to hunt. I know Carl Kossuth from Tethrd has had a Tethrd stick he modified and it is like 12 inches long for climbing for years now. He talked about them possibly coming out with something similar in future. Thank you for all the quality videos.

@@PrivilegedBowhunter You'd have to add the time to put the ring or platform on the tree to what it took for the one stick. Personally, I couldn't stand on the top of that Tethrd stick for hours to hunt. I made my own version of the wingman by adding an EWO ultimate platform and bottom stand-off to one of my Muddy Pro sticks that I cut down. It's actually more comfortable to stand on than my Predator platform. The reduced weight of the Tethrd one stick would be nice but for the pain in my feet. The minute difference in climb time is insignificant. I also think if you did three climbs with each, the average time would be even closer. You kind of fumbled with your rope and lineman's rope a bit more with the Wingman, which probably doesn't happen every time you climb. I enjoy your videos and how you make every attempt to fairly compare equipment. When you're 70, the comfort factor of the stand trumps speed of climbing though. 😉

lol, if I was about 20-25 years younger I’d be trying this stick climbing stuff. So much fantastic gear nowadays. Everything is better. Except the costs.

I currently use a single Muddy Pro and a Trophyline Mission platform. I started out multisticking and already had 4 muddy pro from my hang on stand days so when I got in to one-sticking it made sense. Recently though I purchased an EWO ultimate one stick (would have went with the wingman if they were ever in stock) and I am hoping it will be better for me to pack and a little faster up and down. Is the cam cleat necessary? Not really, you can do it with other methods, it's a matter of how easy is it. I used a hawk helium with a versa button once just messing around and it worked. It's much easier with a cam cleat though if you don't have long arms imo.

Thats no test, we need averages so I suggest you do it a dozen times with each stick and take the average of both 😅
