    The bean and paper towel project is such a classic and yet it never loses its wonder! I love that your son has started planting everything! :)

      Those experiments are classic for a reason! They work and are EASY :) Haha, yep he is still planting everything!

    Sounds like a great unit! We have been doing the Gentle & Classical nature. My daughter also likes experiments so I want to add those into our schedule for more science.

      Ahh, Gentle & Classical Nature is so wonderful! It is something I might revisit when my twins are older ... they are a bit to crazy right now!

      Science Mama I probably am not doing it exactly to her plan since I didn’t buy the student notebook. I’m just following her teachers guide for the topics and attainments. Luckily, we have enough property to have most of the wildflowers and trees right here in our back yard.

    Those books are awesome for younger kids. We also love doing paint projects after some learning normally watercolour.

    EXCELLENT review! The pics were SO helpful & the vid was adorable. I, too, hv twins, but they're 6.5. They're, + my almost 12 yo are the ones I'm struggling to teach science to. I think we're going to try out Elemental Science & this vid has helped a lot w/ that decision. GOD Bless❣️

    Have you looked into Blossom and Root curriculum? I'm curious to know your thoughts.

      Funny you should ask, I was just looking at their site a bit ago before deciding to try and design the human body unit myself! I'm thinking of picking up one of the science programs (I think 1st grade), just to look at it ... I love how flexible it is. My main curiosity is the caliber of the experiments, for me that is the most important part for the elementary years!

      @@sciencemama BR first grade science does look fun! I'd love a science curriculum comparison similar to how you did the math comparison. Have a good day.

    Great video as always! :) Wonder if you did a video about the human body, my kid is so enthusiastic about learning about it, or do you recommend any good book? Thanks :)

    I realize you're using Elemental Science, but I was wondering if you had ever looked into Real Science 4 Kids Building Blocks. I haven't used it but it looks like they cover a lot of difficult subjects in an approachable/teachable way. But, I'm no expert when it comes to science and since you have a background in science, it would be really interesting to see what you think of it. (I know people don't like to review products that they haven't had a chance to use first but was wondering if you had come across it in your search for a science curriculum & what your initial thoughts of it were). Thanks in advance. (Love your channel!)

      Hi! Real Science 4 Kids is on my short list of programs I would like to check out - I've heard really good things about it, but it is hard to know without giving it a try! Are you currently using it? What do you think?

    Hello, I'm in exactly the same boat as you with exactly the same curriculum. Just like you said, I want science to be fun and the demonstrations are right on point but the narration has been difficult. We are doing the animals and I think my nearly 6 year old daughter has been a bit disappointed so far, she was really looking forward to doing this curriculum after doing their Intro to Science curriculum (which was fantastic). I think we will keep going for now and see if we get the hang of it. I don't have any answers, just wanted to say hi and I totally get what you are saying. Looking forward to hearing what you do with the human body unit.

      Hi! I'm sorry you are in the same boat - but it is comforting to know that I am not the only one struggling with this!! Please keep me updated on what you decide to do ... I've been tempted to switch curriculum entirely, but I'm hoping redesigning it a bit to fit me will help!

      What was your final assessment of the Elemental Science Biology curriculum? Did your child end up understanding and retaining the information? I'm trying to make a determination about this curriculum.

    Thanks for this thorough review. Im deciding between Elemental Science or Sassafras, which i believe are from the same publisher. So like always your videos are very helpful 👍

      Oh good, I'm glad the review was helpful - I've always been tempted by Sassafras! What did you end up going with?

    Thank you for this video! Are you still using elemental science? Did you do the intro to science course prior to biology for the grammar stage? My kids will be 4 and 5.5 this fall and I am trying to decide which way to go.

    • @sciencemama
      @sciencemama  3 года назад

      No, we aren't using it anymore ... it was a bit much for my kids! We didn't ever use the intro books, but if I had to do it again that is probably what I would pick!

  • @KoalaKrafts
    @KoalaKrafts 4 года назад

    Did you buy multiple student books? I just purchased the intro to science printed books but I'm thinking maybe the digital might be better in the future for multiple children.

    • @sciencemama
      @sciencemama  4 года назад +1

      No, I only picked up one of the student notebooks and made copies for my daughter ... but the digital option might be better in the future!

    Hi! Love your videos! How long does one of your science units lasts? I have just started homeschooling yesterday 😳 and I am not liking my science curriculum (180 days of science).

    • @sciencemama
      @sciencemama  4 года назад +2

      Hi! It really depends, the plant study was a faster one ... I think it was about 3 weeks. I'm currently planning a human body unit (video coming soon!) that will probably take about 10-12 weeks! Daily it lasts about 15 minutes :)

    I have SO many questions 😆 for a bit of context, we are selling our home and buying an RV, and traveling the country for a year to two. National Parks are one of my biggest priorities. Although my kids will learn tons from just being in nature often, I wanted to plan something to make everything they are coming in contact with, that much more real. Do you think this would do the trick?
    Also, I planned a really fun human body unit study for my kids, this last summer. It was a bit of a dud! I was sad at first about it but then realized that I can save it for another year. All of this isn’t to discourage you but to let you know you aren’t alone if you discover that you love the human body study more than they do 😉

    • @sciencemama
      @sciencemama  4 года назад +1

      First, that sounds amazing! RV schooling has been something I have always wanted to do! Elemental science could be a really good option - since it uses just a few spine books and they sell a demonstration kit that fits in a shoebox sized container!
      Haha, yeah I've learned that lesson with my kids as well ... I think they will love something and then they are less than amazed!
