Competition is always good for consumers.
China building 3 coal powered electricity plants a week to keep up with EV demand ❤❤❤ Coal Power plants
@@gordonwardhaugh8266 😅In 2023, China added 297.6GW of renewable energy installed capacity, with a year-on-year growth rate of 63%. In comparison, Europe added 71.25GW, and North America added 34.9GW of installed capacity.
@@gordonwardhaugh8266
Compared with ICE cars, the air pollution of modern coal-fired power plants is almost negligible.
On the other hand, the number of green energy power plants in China is also increasing rapidly.
@@amandagrant4331 That's not true. However, the newer coal plants in China are used to cover times of high industrial demand. They are peaking plants rather than baseload plants. They were put in because drought cut down hydro supplies. China doesn't want coal any more than we do. @gordon's claim that they were built to keep up with EV demand doesn't sound like the case. Most EVs are charged at night during low load times.
@@gordonwardhaugh8266 I don't think that is true about the coal plants in china.
Now we just need the same level of competition here in Europe. It feels like we are paying premium Euro so that the Chinese customers can get things for free.
It's called tariffs The governments think it's a great idea
What is the relation between the price in Europe and in China? Are you saying your government is taking money from you and give it to China?
@@JanYeeDIn EU there is no discounts . Price has increased.
@@JanYeeD No, Tesla is taking money from me by overpricing cars here to support the deficit in Chyna
Then ask own government to lower the custom taxes & Elect leaders that doesn’t act like a Basement dwindling dystopian that never once travel abroad , Saying this As European politicians are acting like that & xenophobia gone to a new level out of fear of own incompetence.
Not really interested in pricing in other countries. They need to drop their prices significantly in the UK too or lose sales to Chinese manufacturers who are starting to advertise over here.
Why did you sale your car companies? Now they produce them in your name.
@@BACA01 Greed from shareholders and no support from Government.
Amazing offers on BYD right now
This is what competition brings. Tesla has no incentive to reduce price (at least this level of cuts) in US and Europe became why would it? There’s no one threatening their sales.
£50k for a Tesla LR here 😂 uk is a joke. Not buying anything whilst this price
Bad for Tesla share price, but good for the world. Please get these Chinese cars into Europe in order to force the EU companies to compete. I think they can. I think they don’t want to compete. They need to get over it.
They can’t (yet) because only a few make profits at all selling EVs at current prices. They are working on it.
You’re obsessed with communist China.
I have seen 6 new 24 plate BYD’s in Cheshire, has yet no 24 Plate Tesla’s. BYD is undertaking a big advertisement campaign, I even get their advertising on Prime for their new dealership. Tesla nothing indeed I understand Musk has just sack the complete advertisement team which was only put in place a few months ago, which speaks volumes on future strategy. I wouldn’t be surprised if Musk and Tesla retrench back to basics with only the robotaxi going forward with total focus on FSD, the other models being abandoned has they reach end of life.
U.K. isnt doing anything g for evs
Terrible news for Tesla shareholders. There goes the profit margin.....
Therefore, Apple did not dare to set foot in making cars at all.
The huge profits of iphone are unparalleled.
Remember that Musk is not interested in the share price. He's said several time he whishes he'd never taken Tesla public. His primary goal is not profits but to make the fossil fuel industry uneconomic by 2026. He is on course for this, maybe not by 2026 but certainly before 2030.
Right, problem is that Tesla's sales and market share is going down în China despite the price cuts. Not good for them, they are being pushed out of the market by the subsidized Chinese manufacturers..
Problem is Tesla stopped innovating and focused too much FSD while neglecting improvements to interior and electronics. Now they find the model 3 in spite of update is lagging competition in China..
@dangrecu4034 Government subsidies aren't discriminated against Tesla at all, it's the Elon's negligence to his duty in Tesla development
its so comical to watch ford/chevy/fiat/toyata try to compete with tesla,,
Everyone of those car makers sells more than Tesla. Tesla stock down like 40% while Toyota stock up 60%.You really need to absorb more balanced media. Legacy automakers are doing just fine. The EV zealots spin things as if it's a landslide in favor of EVs while legacy is on the verge of bankruptcy. Simply not reality. (this being markets outside China)
They should drop the M3 RWD by $1,500 in Australia. Spot on 60k is the sweet spot.
This year GAC Aion and zeekr entering Aussie, also Changan. Tesla will be forced to reduce further prices I bet
@@ciybersal3499 Yeah, actually after I posted this I learned that Tesla already dropped prices to 59k. Looking forward to Zeekr. This is good news.
I'm waiting for the Model Y to have the same price as in China or close to the price
Bro this channel is the only one saying EV sales have gone up. Has to be cap
sales of EVs *have* gone up almost everywhere, just not as much as production of EVs
We pay SO much for cars here in Europe.
You have to produce them in Europe, but you transferred that all to China.

china buyers are quite different when it comes to price cuts ...they tend to hold off as they think it would go down further
In the first quarter of 2024, the sales volume of EV in China was 2.09 million, a year-on-year increase of 31.8%.
Maybe for folks who already have a car
Every month in Chinas biggest cities there is a lottery for license plates
Even for EVs but there is a shorter wait time
You win a chance to get a license plate…. You at gong to buy a car
As for the rest of the world. If you need a car you buy one, if you don't need, you wait due to high interest rates and slow down in the economy
I’m happy to wait

China has really good public transportation compared to the rest of the world
My real question is ,how and why do all these models still not have bi-directional charging safe except for the Cybertruck? I get the fact that they have to place an additional module inside the car for it, and that that represents additional costs. But at the same time, at the price Tesla is asking and the profits they are making couldn't they bother just to add it, since they are all about added value to their cars...
Tesla please, when??
Thats because charging only costs 13pemce per kilowatt nit like uk were it can be 87pemce
Did u know nepal EV car sales is more than 60% .

Judging by the comments no one here has a clue what they are talking about!
Musk probably is regretting starting the price war.
The profit is in volume. That and FSD.
Price war will be brutal to legacy auto ICE car sales.
Why? If Tesla is that much superior, it shouldn't be worried.
Chinese EV is killing Tesla. ELON no longer rip people off like the old days 😂
Tesla still has the best selling model in China so I'm not sure they are being killed off. BYD had more in total, 140k vs Tesla's 90k in March. Nio managed 11k and Xpeng 9k.
Phillip.
That's NEVs aka New Energy Vehicles (BEVs + PHEVs), Sam, not BEVs alone. Still, the numbers are good and where things are headed is clear. All car sales in China will be electric by the end of this decade.
Tesla desperately needs a 15k, no-frills car.
That would be something. Similar to wuling in china.
Why? The Chinese government can subsidise their own industries to oblivion. The used M3 are cheap nowadays.
That train has left the stations while they were busy building the ludicrous CT and similar projects...
No side mirrors and a small joystick for steering.
Chinese EV's will cater to this segment
I want a new Y but I not willing to buy if the price will drop $2000 after I buy it

if its 32000 and gets the tax incentive in US I will buy it ASAP
Elon in modern day TYRANT
Legacy auto is in big trouble, you say? Maybe you didn't see GM's earnings this morning. 🤣🤣🤣
So di toyota. It will not last long. Numbers are numbers. Gm total car sales is going down, and they started to sell at higher prices. This should work for 1-2 years. Aftyer that the ev will be so cheop that it will become very difficult to buy an ICE car.
Earnings are money not reinvested, its good for shareholders and bad for the company.
What is advantage to model X and S versus Y or 3?
Google it
At least byd price in Australia is kept stable. Atto 3 is kept and good for existing owner like us not like Tesla. Keep dropping price Tesla and no one will buy your car
Toyota is now the largest car manufacturer in the world in value, and in the number of units produced! ✌😎✌
20 hottest years in the last 22.
How are their EV sales going? 😮
Are they?
Toyota has the most debt of any company in the world, around $200 Billion, sales collapsing in China and no scalable EV product offering.
Toyota = The Pride Before The Fall
China is a completely different market also to Australia. We don't have the infrastructure, nor do we have a government that will develop the infrastructure.
What are the EV sales here? Next to nothing, 7% in 2023. Try trade one in they're worthless here second hand.
Need 10 years, then it'll be there
Jai Hind. The best weapon against Price war is called Made in India,
They could lay off Elon and save a lot of money
His salary at Tesla I belive is only $1.00 dollar.
His contract is goal oriented.
I think it was ten steps, and each step required him to grow the business like by 300%.
No sure, but I think he has achieved 7 steps.
At the time of the contract, Tesla was selling around 100,000 cars and valued around 50 billion.
2024 - 2 million cars and $850 billion and growing

Camry sales dropped worldwide bc there is obviously a much better one that dropped that should sell much more than the old one
Delusionally wishful thinking
@@douglaswatt1582 thinking the Toyota Camry will sell a lot is delusional? Hahah ok. Great point genius.
Don't see any revolution in massive acquisition of EV cars with those prices. It's not yet for the every day people. It is still a rich guy toy (or those that want to look like a rich guy)
So electric vehicles are taking up a big market share in China, so what? The thing in Europe is that they are being sold at a heavy discount from 55% of electric vehicles discounted a year ago it's now up to some 77% of electric vehicles that are discounted. 60% are sold into fleets BTW, so don't believe all the guff about the rise of electric vehicle sales. Maybe in China that's the case but it certainly is not the case in Europe.
Europe matters much less than China where the car market is more than twice the EU total
Remember that the Chinese car market is larger than the US and EU combined. And China alone makes up over 60% of the global EV market.
Slash prices just to get you into an EV..
Tesla should focus on making a car in China for export to avoid the price cuts.
In 2023, more than half of Tesla's global production came from the Shanghai factory.
once the ICE trade-in program kickstarts,,, we will get all the salvage lolo olol lolo olol
BYD sells ICE cars?
Tesla just cant sell them can they
......you do know that the model Y is the number one selling vehicle in the world right? And that the model 3 is the number one selling vehicle in Europe and many other countries in the world. So Tesla doesn't seem to be having problems selling them. Their discounts are to keep pace with BYD who are their number one competitor that's trying to keep sales pace and market share with Tesla. At the end of the day, doesn't matter why they are discounted as it's all good for the customer
@@jeffkennedy683 "Was," not "is." Model Y sales have dropped significantly. BYD is significantly outselling Tesla so far in April by over 10:1 in China. Seagull alone is outselling all of Tesla combined in April in China, based on insurance registrations.
@@larryevans673910-1 if you include hybrids which Tesla doesn't sell. No doubt BYD will likely overtake Tesla eventually in overall sales because of the sheer number of vehicles they offer but that doesn't mean Tesla isn't/cant sell theirs. They had their first down quarter in several years and most of the industry is experiencing a slow down. However It's a growing EV market overall with lots of pie to share. As for the Seagull not really a fair comparison as it's a small compact vehicle. We'll see how it competes with Tesla's " model 2" in the future.
@@jeffkennedy683 Tesla lost.
Eventually you got to tell the truth
Total destruction coming.
I think you mean, that Tesla's weekly sales in China dip over 50% YoY in last week. Third week in a row and three first weeks of Q2. Didn't you?
Tesla has no real chance of fighting price war against a company that build their own batteries and chips and from whom Tesla themselves buys batteries from.
For Tesla focusing on price means certain death, what they need is better cars, and the more they cut prices the less they're able to build better cars.
Musk don't focus on the price war, now he is interested in making rockets.
no matter how good your car is you can still get stuck in traffic.

====> Hybrids Rule
And what is China’s primary fuel to generate electricity??
According to data from 2019, renewable energy sources (including hydropower, wind power, solar energy, etc.) accounted for approximately 28% of China's total electricity generation. With continued investment and development in renewable energy by China, this proportion is expected to further rise to 80% by 2035
renewable energy
@@dicky-duck6632 China is moving very fast and 2019 is a long time ago. Last year, China installed more solar than the US has cumulative total.
Problem is that Tesla's sales and market share is going down în China despite the price cuts. Not good for them, they are being pushed out of the market by the subsidized Chinese manufacturers...
tesla china has same subsidizes as others
Nope, Tesla is a foreign company while their Chinese competitors are being owned and more importantly controlled by the CCP, thus no subsidies for Tesla in China.
@@Woof514 I am not referring to the regular government subsidies (incentives) for EV sales. On top of that, the Chinese manufacturers actually receive money from the government directly to support their expansion at home and abroad...
Dumdum, Tesla enjoys the same leveled playing field in China. Stop making shit up it only exposes your evil intentions.
@@dangrecu4034 Chinese subsidies are significantly less per EV than those in the US. For reference, look at how Tesla's net profit after taxes last year was higher than their operating profit, with the difference being due to tax subsidies.
Game over for Tesla in China. Time to go home.

you promised to close down if Elon sacked tesla employees. Was 14,000 employees not enough?
That was a fairly normal adjustment to overhiring due to growth and a slowing market.
ALL BIG COMPANIES do this; the media is over reporting and over hyping Tesla because they generally hate Tesla but also because Tesla and Elon is such a polarizing topic.

Welcome to reality. Get used to it!
Additionally, apparently Tesla has the lowest repair costs of all EVs.
hmmm ... it was exactly the opposite...
No, maintenance and repair are different. Tesla repair costs are high. Most Tesla's are totalled for even minor damage. High repair costs are a large part of why Hertz dumped them. EV maintenance costs are relatively low.
@@larryevans6739 Yep. In general EVs have quite low maintenance cost. But if you calculate loose control arms in Tesla's case then it is for now not that much different compared to ICE cars (if inspected they wear out in every 3/Y in 1-2 years -> ~800€ to replace ... quite a same as ICE 'oil change' + other maintenance cost)
Also insureance may be higher in EVs and again especailly in Tesla case, which increase 'maintenance' cost.
@@mho0 Also, Tesla Model 3 was the vehicle most likely to have safety inspection failures in Germany (TUV). Those repairs add up.
But not all EV's are Tesla, and most of the repairability issues are not because it is an EV.
Electricity is cheap in China with its large, advanced renewable energy plants. EVs are 3.5 to 4.5 times more energy efficient than ICE vehicles and cheap to operate. Why pay 800 yuan to fill up a ICE when 180 yuan is enough for a EV every 2 weeks?
How far is BYD (using Nvidia Drive Thor) with self driving compared to Tesla"s FSD . And what other software system is in developmen to allow self driving cars in the future ? The future is robot-taxis in a Transport as a Service business model, in a few years people will not buy their own car. Might be an interesting subject for a future video ?
I've made a TaaS business model evaluation: Tesla could give their model Y away for free if it operates as a robot-taxi. The margin on a very expensive robot-taxi ($75000) with a long life expectancy (16 years, 1 million miles CATL battery) could reach 11,500 (15%) margin on the sales, BUT an additional $6660 margin every year (Saas). Which would mean during the whole 10 years life cycle one robot-taxi could yield $77450 gross margin to Tesla !
Tesla produces already 1.25 million model Y per year (which could be upgraded to a robot-taxi) this would mean an additional $77.45 Billion margin for Tesla or an additional $700 to the stock price on year 10. No wonder Tesla is postponing model 2 (low cost, a lot of competition, low 6% margin, not suitable for a robot-taxi).
not a chance huawei offmap self-driving can deal with the triffic condition in china that conside the most messive one on the world well with 400km without people cut
FSD is not allowed in China due to privacy laws. The system is constantly capturing and transmitting images to a central location to be coded. For ADAS to be allowed in China, it needs to be processed onboard the vehicle. So, in China, BYD is ahead.
@@larryevans6739 I have both BYD and Tesla stock. BYD for Asia, Tesla the rest of the world.
Chinese produce much of their electricity by coal- powerstations…. So this is not very green this Chinese ev-boom 🤔
China is complicated in that they lead the world in renewable energy as well. They are a huge country.
Compared with ICE cars, the air pollution of modern coal-fired power plants is almost negligible.
On the other hand, the number of green energy power plants in China is also increasing rapidly....
EVs are always better, no matter where the electricity comes from.

2.China ev sales on 50% what is the Problem.
I dont care for the stock price. I want a overall good car. Actually an Model y is in my opinion the best car overall. After selling my hyundai plugin vehicle i will buy an tesla model y. Maybe next year.
Tesla's sales are significantly down this month in China. Insurance registrations for the first 3 weeks: 1880, 6,230, 5,160. BYD has been outselling Tesla so far in April by more than 10:1. Seagull has been outselling all of Tesla combined (in China). Tesla sales have plunged so far this month, and they need to respond with discounts to try to compete.
But new competition is coming, so this alone will not get them ahead.
Tesla needs to drop 60% for any chance to be in the game and that's not even to win. It's to survive with some sales, otherwise they stand to be zero. Even Tesla X is considered legacy.

That means there are 50 percent more carbon dioxide molecules in the air than there were in 1750. Global fossil fuel emissions are still at record-high values (with a brief dip during the pandemic). And they stayed high in 2023, according to a projection by the Global Carbon Budget. 2023 was unusually hot, both on land and in the ocean.
