I love this music, loved it as a kid and love it as an adult. Kids are missing out today on such great stuff from decades ago.

In the '70s I lived in a communal flat in the Haight District of San Francisco. The flat came with a suite of Arte Deco dinning furniture including a large stand alone record and radio player. While everyone was into the music of the times, I would tune the radio to an NPR station that only played music of the 20's,30's, and 40's! Your channel brings back these pleasant memories! Thank you.

I'm listening to this music in these days to disconnect from the "unpleasant" times and it works. Incredible how this music too disconnected completely between two horrible world wars: an optimistic view. Sursum corda!

Cole Porter was a genus, Richard Rogers was a genus, Irving Berlin was a genus, Larnce Hart was a genus, Scott Joplin was a genus, George Gershwin was one of the greatest. There are plenty more I didn't list. Where are these people today ????

Vintage means care and class and respect for those who came before us to bring us into the world to provide some a situation or the tools of scholarship to allow us to find our way. The journey more important than the instant here and now gratification which is just now becoming apparent to many. We have all learned and grown but few are living now and trying to respect the love life gives us in beauty. Will be nice to see the wheel turn round to traditions becoming more respected once again. Thank you very much for the remaster of these and the continual provenance of restoring a time where being out on in the park to sit and converse was a treasure.

Many of these performers were still going strong in the '50s when I started work as junior stock-keeper, later sales assistant, in the Grammophone & Record Department at Harrods, Knightsbridge, London. What nostalgia!

The old saying you can lose yourself in music is very true. In the 1920's this music was a major factor in the lives of many people. Afternoon tea dances were as packed as any nightclub today and it heralded in a change in social habits, dress and a less inhibited lifestyle. Dread to think what a modern feminist would make of a flapper but who cares!

Turner Layton (1894-1978): Deep Purple was a big hit in 1939. Composed by Parish & De Rose it was recorded on 29 March 1939 in London. He became a successful solo act rivalling Hutch, into the early 1960s.
