I laughed when you mentioned the extra seating stem for VLD bullets hidden under the foam... I have owned my Custom Grade dies for 2 years, and never knew that... I ordered a new seating stem like a month ago! Guess I have an extra now
So where is this full length match die video? I've searched both youtube and your site and I can't find it. I have the FL match grade die in 6.5 Creedmoor.
Question: Do i need one or more of the Hornady 594264 Bushings for the HORNADY 594264 .264 BUSHING F. .6MM PPC DIE SET? You show 3 pieces - but you use 1.
i followed the exact process and the headspace never changed at all. to the point that without a shell in the press the shellholder started actually touching the die. im reloading 338 lapua
Can you use the match grade dies without the bushing in the devapping andnresizing die or do you have to have the bushing in order to make this die work properly?
Hello Friend; I liked your video, very good to be able to reduce the case to the optimal measure. I got the attention the press you use, what's your name? Serves with the new dimension?
same here. I'm a bit pissed of that I'm sitting here trying to figure out what bushings I need to order when I should be sizing 338 Lapua brass. What is also shitty is that when you buy the comparator set they don't include that anvil base that is really needed to use the comparator set. The little anvil base which probably cost $3 or less to make they charge $15 for. Total rip off, and enough to make me question whether I'll buy another die set from Hornady. I'd rather they had raised the price some and included the REQUIRED parts. Assholes!
@aaronb2245 you can actually but the comparator set with or without the anvil base. I bough the set with the base. Some people already had it from buying the ogive measuring set that is mentioned in the video. So, I can see why they would sell it with or without.
I only want to load shells, not work on the space shuttle. I load with RCBS dies and get same hole groups when the rifle is capable. I wasn't expecting to have to take a college course just to load ammo
@@hornady no wonder i don't have a bushing.. suggestion, could you group all your how to setup's into a playlist. ie how to take you've bought all this stuff into a set of steps of how to set it up to be able to reload... i can imagine the match grade being better, i got custom grade and I've bought the micrometer for the seating die... and a mandrel expander. also got a separate decap die.
Theoretically no it shouldn't matter if it's repeatable, and it wouldn't for FL sizing. But if you're seating multiple bullets with slightly varying neck tension it could cause different seating depths.
I have the same question? I have the FL match grade die in 6.5 CM, my headspace actually 'grows' several thou when setting mine up that way. Doesn't make sense to me??
What am I missing here? You keep referring to your measurement as "3.552" or 3.something what is that? you're getting 3.552"? The case is no where near 3inches long. The reading should be 1.552 shouldn't it?
How about include with the instructs the bushing sizes needs for the cartridge a person buys the dies for. Or better yet how about include all the required parts. Very shitty of Hornady! Just as shitty as ordering a comparator seat and not having the anvil base included, and charging another $15 for a part that likely cost less that $1-3 bucks to make. INCLUDE THE REQUIRED PARTS WITH YOUR KITS! Next time I'll buy parts from someone who knows how to do business!

J Glaze I got it all sorted it out shortly after posting that comment. I still think they bushing are way over priced and should all be include. That said you do only need a few of them to get it done. Just hate being buckle and dimed.
Good night, my brother wanted to trade me these dies for my RCBS dies, and now I see why. I will need a tool box full of tools and extra parts, besides needing a college degree just to load shells. Anyone want a set of match grade Hornady dies?

excellent video ; good length of time and you got right to the point
thanks
Great video. Thanks

You have to have the bushing to get proper neck tension
@hornady so do I need the bushings in order to set up the die? I am completely new to this
Yes, we have a video on determining which bushing you will need as well.
Hello Friend; I liked your video, very good to be able to reduce the case to the optimal measure. I got the attention the press you use, what's your name? Serves with the new dimension?
That's a Hornady Iron Press. Great press!
Are you able to set this die up accurately without the headspace comparator?
Great! So I buy the die, it gets here and I need to order a bushing! REALLY!
Yea.....it's pretty simple dude. Not their fault you don't know what you are doing.
eyeofjake and you wouldn’t have a problem buying a car that doesnt come with a gas pedal?

any chance you have done similar for the custom grade die set.
G
The process would be same, but easier. With Custom Grade, there is no bushing to set specific neck tension.

Will this only work in the match grade die?? - What about the custom Grade dies?
Which part are you questioning if it will only work in the match grade die?
@@hornady being able to bump just the shoulder back on the brass.... I dont believe I got any bushings with my die set
@@cameronsheridan5997 Yes the custom grade dies do not have the bushing so you would use the same method as Seth describes minus the bushings.
@@hornady perfect thanks
Looks like that whole die moves at 5:06 glad I dont use the lock and load bushings!
Why would that matter if its repeatable?

+jay badura have you trimmed your brass?
Jay, you may need to bring the die down a bit more in the press. Our presses and many others can handle about 1/2 turn extra of cam over. Thanks!
I have the same question... Kind of confusing or maybe it is my lack of knowledge on these dies. (Just purchased them).
qué bueno sería que el vídeo estuviera subtitulado en español

The extra 2 inches come from the comparator shown in the video. Did u watch it? He could've zeroed it but the initial number is irrelevant
Seems like 3.552" includes the device placed in the Dial Caliper.
Always better to “zero”.

Buy the expensive dies then spend another $34 for two bushings no thanks.
