I'm taking next week off as we spend time with family in Austin. See you in 2 weeks.
Have fun. from Dripping Springs
We will be watching eclipse from home (Ellis county)
Also the wildflower bloom in Texas was awesome this year
Glad you were able to see it
We've been watching you from the start and can't remember if you've done an Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta video ( total bucket list event ). So much around the area to see. After exploring the general Albuquerque area. We did a grand loop down to Carlsbad Caverns then the highest point in Texas at Guadalupe Peak ,then over to Las Cruces to the White Sands but opted to see my wife's nephew's family on the out skirts of Las Cruces with a beautiful view of the Organ mountains. I was under the gun to get back for a symphony rehearsal in Palm Desert and we really wanted to visit Chiricawa National Monument so we decided that White Sands will have to wait for another time. Perhaps on a trip to Florida in the fall.
So fun meeting you both on the return west from eclipse chasing! Thank you for being so gracious, fun and informative! We are enjoying the Mogollon Rim for a few days now - first time here and it’s exceeding all expectations. Safe travels! Mary & Don
@@MaryE_ Watch out for Bigfoots at the Rim.
The close ups of the roadrunner really allowed us to appreciate the pieces used to create texture- beautiful
Informative, fun video!
John spreads joy to us by spreading joy under his arms!!!! Hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i needed me a big dose of New Mexico…
that was such a lovely detour for me…
thank you for sharin’ it…
i admire y’all mucho….
🚐💨…….
Thank you!
Welcome to Texas, we are close by in Boerne. Thanks for the lovely video.🤠💕
That cave is amazing! Looking forward to the new van.
We did this trip a month before you guys… fun to watch you guys and see what your thoughts were.
Always enjoy New Mexico 🤙
Hopefully next year we'll be able to spend more time in New Mexico because there is so much to see.
I really don't want to make this seem negative but I think that it may be better for your video production quality to focus on making the accompanying music lower in volume. Unfortunately I find that I must reduce the volume on my TV when music is playing within your video compared to what it was with just your commentary.
I greatly enjoy your weekly videos showing the adventures of Debbie and John. Please take my comments as helpful which is how they are intended.
Thank you.
Wonderful video. Thank you very much. Greetings from the Provence, Southern France.
Bonjour from Austin!
As retired military, we were fortunate to be able to camp right on the military post with lovely mountain view’s, which was very convenient.
Carlsbad Caverns is amazing. Stay for the evening and watch the cloud of bats head out!
Good video. Thank you. Enjoyed it.
I love the quirky roadside attractions! Great video 👍(as usual)
The caverns are amazing, on the bucket list for next year, shame on us for buzzing past them at least 3 times 😱on our road trips. Enjoy the family time and the eclipse, hopefully the cloud won’t spoil it.
Eclipse big news her in TX for weeks. Now a cloudy day! Keep your hope up. Our granddaughter is soooo ready.
Excellent coverage of some of New Mexico’s charms.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the clouds part and you get your eclipse.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Just Wow! Enjoy time with family.
You really deliver quality videos. Sir Paul Mc Cartney and Linda lived near Rincon Park.
Interesting.
I Love Caves. Have been to Carlsbad twice. The first time was 1968 and we ate lunch at the underground cafeteria. My sister and I ate ourselves sick on pickles from the condiment bar. I couldn’t eat pickles for years after that.
Then returned 50 years later in 2018. They no longer make hot food underground apparently because of animal problems they were having and… no more pickles.
The Caverns are awesome. We had a 1230p tour and the ranger swept us out. We could spend a couple days underground. Next time I like to take the candle lantern tour.
Enjoyed your video especially the dripping sounds and musical selection. Will be be seeing your Eclipse video in two weeks? Hope you can see it tomorrow🤞🤞
Great memories for you. We only got drinks and fudge.
As road trips go, stopping where ever you like is the way to go, no reservations, making memories and winging it. Lots of fun, see you in a couple of weeks. Stay safe.
If you haven't returned from Texas, yet, you might consider making a detour to Silver City, New Mexico on your return to California. It it a very colorful place with lots of fine restaurants and a vibrant art community. I entertained my cousins from England there, when they were riding the Continental Divide. It has lots of history and colorful 19th century buildings. It was also where Billy the Kid embarked on his life of crime. My cousins loved the place, especially since they had a first-rate bike shop to service their bicycles. They made the trip all the way down from Banff, while in their late 60's!
Thanks. We just might do that!
@@FromShetoMe Silver City is basically the gateway to Gila Cliffs National Monument which are really worth seeing and include a nice short, easy hike to get to them. Oh, and a long, winding, very scenic drive before you get there.
This one is a favourite for me - thank you! Aguirre Springs was one of our best overnights but we missed the missile range. How?! We also woke up to that roadrunner sculpture - awesome job NM on their rest areas! Enjoy your family time & eclipse!
The missile range isn’t even in Atlas Obscura.
Good morning Debbie! Don't believe whatever reports you saw on the Chiricahua dispersed camping and the road.
We were there in November and it was beautiful (I can send you pictures if you like).
There we actually a few passenger cars on the dirt road 42 that eventually leads to the town of Portal so yes your van is more than capable!
Good to know. We’ll do it on another trip. John had communicated with Chris Schontz who said there was snow. It all worked out.
The Eastern portion of Saguaro Park was where we did our very first cacti hiking encounter. Once we got out into the thick of them, I could swear that they were whispering to us !
They are such magnificent beasts.
This was a great video thank you!
I haven't been to the Cavarns since the early 60's with my grandparents and parents, we all took the elevator down. You guys got some nice hikes in during this time period. Not looking to good weather wise for tomorrow's eclipse but at least your with family and enjoying other things along the way. Was just watching a video on growing zucchini vertically so will give it a try this Summer. Have a good week!
We're having a blast. So many beautiful parks and walking areas here. But the traffic...
If you don't like caves , take the elevators down to the bottom level. When you step out of the elevator it will give you the same experience as being in a mall. The ceilings tower above you and walking the trail to see the most beautiful exhibits has little if any tight spaces.. We took the natural entrance trail and even going down the whole time was strenuous for those of us who don't hike as much our wonderful video hosts. My issue was the pain caused by my toes craming up against the tip of my boots. Better fitting boots would solve that a little bit , but gravity is difficult to overcome. The natural entrance hike has some nice features but the truly grand formations are down where the elevators drop you off and take you up. I wouldn't change taking the natural entrance in our case because at the time we were in shape to do it but now a days I would not feel lesser for taking the elevators. Thanks as always for taking us along.
I almost forgot. You guys hiking back out the natural entrance is totally Cray Cray !
John increased his shoe size to a 14 because he was losing his nails.
Nice video! In the event you are unaware, drone use ( 13:25 & 25:58 ) is prohibited in National Parks and Monuments. Hate to be that person, but we will all hate it more if they are banned everywhere. Safe travels.
That footage is from Envato Elements, a subscription service.
@@FromShetoMe thanks for the reply (and happy to read that)!
Loved today’s video. Thanks
If you enjoy things like the road runner statue you need to do a tour of Alberta . You could see the worlds largest Pysanka, the Ukrainian sausage at Mundare or the UFO landing pad at ot St Paul. I could go on . If you like I will send more.😜
Those sound great.
Going to the belly of the beast for the eclipse? Y'all are braver than me. As a native Texan I don't even like going to Austin in a generic mid-week. At 72 (almost) I do remember when Austin was great though. It had its day. As for the eclipse, I'll "watch" it here in my back yard in Grapevine. We're just north of the totality line but close enough for me. Love when you guys visit New Mexico. That's our playground. You might consider going back through Valles Caldera. My favorite spot in NM.
Thanks for the tip. I've made a note of it. We're planning to return via 40 or something in the northern end of the state.
Love your travel videos. I think we saw your van at South Llano river SP. walked over in the morning to say hi but you had already left. Enjoy your family time. Maybe we’ll cross paths on the way home back to CA.
Yes! Weren’t the flowers incredible! Sorry we missed you.
Always love your videos! With all the hiking you two do, ever have problems with poison oak/ivy? Stay safe!
I’m really allergic and so pretty careful. And I wipe down my skin with soapy water if we see any. Didn’t see any on that hike.
Thanks for the journey! Beautiful mountains! Flying your drone again I see….Liked the White Sands Park when we drove Harley’s into it, not recommended as it’s slippery! Will have to go back to the Base museum….
Not my drone. It’s stock footage.
@@FromShetoMe oh, ok. Well safe travels to your next adventure!
Did you get an hair cut, Debbie?
Enjoy your time with your family.
I did.
Hi Debbie and John
When you were camping near Cloudcroft you mentioned ‘all the other campsites were closed’. Why was that?
Also did you actually encounter any ‘rowdy’ problems at Aguirre Springs that the rangers were trying to prevent?
We are heading to NM, CO etc in a couple weeks.
Thanks for all you do .
The campgrounds were closed for the winter. The All Trails app tells you the opening date. It may be open by the time you visit. Aguirre was quiet when we were there. I’m guessing weekends are the problem because it is quite close to Alamogordo.
Thank you
Safe travels
We are at Agguire today 4/27 a Saturday. About half full, but very windy. When they say Max 23’ trailer they mean it. 😅
Yesterday we were at the LBJ museum in johnson city. Very nice.
@@genetownsend8847 Awesome. Loved that little campground.
Do you see many rattlesnakes on your hikes out west?
In 5 years we’ve seen 2.
