That's a cool fall colors guide! We had decent fall colors this year, but nothing like we had last year! You sure found some beautiful yellows! I love that you back in! Wish I did... Our spare tire is under the trailer, so we've been driving our Trasharoo around the country in the back of the truck for a couple of years. We can strap it to our ladder, but it might be time to give it away. Lovely video!
Enjoyed the scenery in your video. Safe travels! Back to sewing! 🧵 😊
Love your channel. Bringing history into it makes it even better.
Love Fossil Falls! But yeah, the road is looking pretty rough - maybe that tropical storm?
The last storm that wiped out Death Valley did a number on FF as well.
Great video as usual. It's always interesting to see your travels.
You are a wonderful story teller, i hope in years to come when your grandchildren are older appreciate these videos and your stories, you are truly a treasure.
Thank you so much!
Great music and B roll, Debbie!
I love watching your channel!! I saw you tying your shoe laces and it reminded me to thank you. That’s how I tie them now and I never have to retie them. Thank you for all y’all do for us :)
That’s great. It took awhile but I even got John to do it.
Really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Debbie and John, Another beautiful video! Thanks!
I heard you had a couple of grandkids visit recently. Can you believe how fast they grew up? Gotta be proud of them!
Love John's Stormy Kromer hat. Have you ever used a draft snake to keep the cold from coming in....I use it on my van sliding door, keeps the draft out and they can be hung up out of the way.
That’s a good idea.
Thanks for answering my Trasharoo question.
Sorry it took me so long.
So beautiful looks like you had fun.
Nice views. I love this time of year.
Just love this video, and I'm not just saying that because Bob and I (and Annie barking) are in it, haha. You really captured the beauty of McGee Creek, gorgeous! Felt like I was there again. And I can't believe we didn't know we had a leveling app on our phone.
LOL. Hope you're getting used to all the quirks of your van.
We were in the Eastern Sierra camping for 2 weeks in the middle of Sept. It was nice to see no usual late summer wildfire smoke, and yet too early for prescribed burns. But too early for any leaf peeping. we missed that. Saw 27° our last night up Twin Lakes Road outta Bridgeport. Honeymoon Flat
Being from the Northern California coast we LOVE the mountains of the Eastern Sierra. 😊
Very nice video.
Beautiful colors.
I am adding Rt 395 on our list for sure.
Cute outfits,too!
Another great video. It is easy to see how your video production skills have evolved. Was the $6.99 for diesel ? Can’t remember how your van is powered.
Yes, diesel. In this coming week's video you'll see us pay $7.99 per gallon!
We love the Sierra in the fall. We were a few weeks too early for the fall color this year but still enjoyed the beauty. Two questions: 1) what is the leveling app you’re using? 2) Have you had critters get into or attracted to your Trasharoo? We’re considering getting one but I wonder about it attracting unwanted critters. Thanks for always so generously sharing your adventures and knowledge.
I use the native app on the iPhone. It's called "Measure" and the second tab is a level. We don't store anything in the Trasharoo that would attract critters. The name is misleading. They should call it a Stuffaroo.
Can I ask where you got the shoe holders (pockets) on the back of your kitchen cabinet? Thank you 😊

Debbie, beautiful video! It’s been a long time since I left a comment but I still haven’t missed even one of your videos. I’m the photographer/video producer that contacted you a couple of years ago. I’m very impressed with your talent in producing your videos. You’ve come a long way from your hiking pole repair video that you started with in 2019 if I remember correctly. I love to watch your videos as you keep pushing yourself to always improve your skills and to do the research to make the story telling more interesting. We have many things in common that peaks my interest in the stories that you share.
Like you, we have a 2018 Pleasure Way van and it’s even the same color. Last year we traveled over 16,000 miles in three and a half months. In this video you mentioned the couple in a Roadtrek van that upgraded the electrical system. This was something that I enjoyed doing in our van. Almost all of the PW electrical system had to be upgraded. I ended up putting 400ah of batteries, a 3000w inverter and an all Victron system in the trunk under the bed.
I keep hoping that we run into you sometime but it just hasn’t happened yet! If you are ever heading north on I-5 and need a place to spend the night you would be welcome to mooch dock at our tree farm just south of Portland Oregon.
Wonderful to hear from you! It's been quite a journey of learning here on YT. I've just started learning color correction/grading by purchasing a tutorial. It will take me awhile but I'll keep practicing on folks like you. Would love to meet up with you so let's just make it happen when we come that way next year. Very interested in hearing about your upgrades and picking your brain about videography, etc. energymaven@gmail.com
@@FromShetoMe That would be great, I can’t wait!
Dangit, you found our secret spot at Aerie Crag! 😂 The walk along the river there was so amazing this year-all of the picnic tables by the river were under water. 👋✌️
That would have been neat to see.
Thanks, for the lovely fall video. Safe travels.🍁💕
❤
Several years ago when we went from Silverton down to Telluride, we were blown away by the massive number of aspens that lined the sides of the mountains. They literally glowed …..
Thanks for the tip about Aerie Crag when the other nearby campgrounds are full. We were in the area in late October looking for Fall color and hiked the Parker Lake Trail up to the lake, think we were a couple of weeks late as most of the leaves had already fallen.
Yes, you probably missed it by a week, but the Parker Lake area is great for fall color.
We have boondocked twice on BLM land near Travertine Hot Springs. Nice spot! We went through the 395/Tioga Rd area in mid-October this year, great color. We hiked Saddlebag Lake on your recommendation. Thanks!
Another wonderful escape from the worries of the world. Thank you 😊
Thanks for the video. I love Bridgeport. Many wonderful summer trips there. I have only been there in the summer. The mountains look beautiful with all the snow. That bakery brings back memories. We use to buy their cinnamon and cheese bread. What level app is that? Do you leave the trash a roo on the spare at night in areas where there are bears?
The app comes with the iPhone and is called "Measure." Yes, we leave the trasharoo on because there isn't anything in it that would attract bears. In other words, we don't use it for trash.
Hi Debbie and John, just wanted to say this video was great. I love all the videos you post and tune in every week to see another great video! I don't usually comment but thought you should know. I hope one day you knock on my van and say Hi lol!! Take care
Thank you so much!
Experienced some fall color last year in the E Sierra. Didn't make it there this year, but got to see some beautiful color from your great video. Happy holidays!
Nice that some creators such as yourselves, show the leaves changing later in the year so I can see them change again. Thanks!
Fall is my favorite! Quiet and beautiful! Thanks for sharing, safe travels!
Beautiful colors and lovely filming. Thank you! We saw the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in October and the Aspens there were also stunning. Very different from what I was used to growing up as an East Coast gal.
The east definitely beats us on color but I think we win on the vistas.
For sure.@@FromShetoMe
how many miles have you put on your Ascent just curious !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think we're around 110,000.
Thank you!!!
Great video, lots of good stuff. I always wondered why I would see you do the campground parking, yes, backing up into a space can be a challenge sometimes. It was really chilly here this morning in So Cal, 35, brrr... Was checking out your little My Heat heater, that would be good next to my bed in the van. Nothing like a beautiful Fall hike with all the colors, thanks for sharing with us.
Thankfully, John is totally fine with me backing up. A lot of guys would feel slighted at the suggestion.
Thank you so much for sharing the back sierras with us. Absolutely stunning. Gorgeous photography and wonderful storytelling as usual. We drove through some parts a few years back enroute to oregon and the fall colors were like a light show, just amazing. Walker lake was a surreal postcard. Wishing you and yours a safe and relaxing holiday season.
Oh no! You passed Tioga Pass Road (again!) HAHAHA!
Was probably closed due snow.
Ahhhhhh, but you could have explored Horse Meadows Road, which leads you up a canyon to the Gibbs Lake trailhead.
At places the road runs alongside the creek outflow from Gibbs. Although perhaps the road was closed too due to poor weather. Might have required 4x4.
It is quite the hike to Gibbs, 8 miles? Don't know if ebike are allowed.
Rewarding stunning vistas. Beware of bears!
Thanks for the tour. My heart aches to get there next year. To sit/lie by the creek, lulled by the gentle tumbling falls, absolutely sublime.
There are just so many great hikes up there. I haven't done Gibbs Lake or Walker Lake but have done Parker. No time on that trip or the one you'll see next week. But it might be interesting to ride our bikes to the trailhead of some of these spots. Thanks for the tips.
Beautiful video. What's the name of the levelling app you were using? Apple, Samsung, or both?
It comes with the iPhone. Called "Measure." The first screen measures and swipe right to get the level.
Thanks!@@FromShetoMe
Love Fall Colors in the Sierra. This year we’ve had 3 Falls. First in the Northeast. Then in the Southwest. Now in Sacramento. Beautiful. After a couple weeks driveway surfing with family starting to get itchy feet. Happy Holidays
We were in Arizona last week and it was just starting to turn. So you could book it over if you feel like you haven't had enough. 😅
You captured the fall beauty perfectly. We love the eastern Sierras in the fall!
Beautiful photography!
After we visited the Lone Pine area we learned there are very old trees in the White Mountains near where you were. Methusila, the world's oldest tree is there! 5000 years old. Have you seen it? We'll have to check it out next time we're out west.😊
Yes, been there a number of times and hiked to the top of White Mountain Peak. We like Grand View Campground up there. Back in the day, it would be rare to see anyone else there. Lots of car commercials used to be shot up there because the backdrop is the Sierra peaks.
Thanks for showing this wonderful scenery and bringing some blue sky and sunshine into my home. I wonder why you use these little electric heaters and do not heat with gas. In my van I tried to heat with the ECOMAT 2000 Select electric heater, BUT at temperatures below approx. 5°C (40°F) the valve of the TRUMA Combi 4 would open and all my precious drinking water would leave. The heating pipes of my TRUMA Combi (gas heater) go along the water pipes and the valve, so there is no worry about losing water. No problems in Austria past spring (-5°C - 0°C) and France in October in ( 3 - 5°C). Or do you have a DIESEL heater (unless it is specially equipped!) which might have problems at such elevations?
Our propane heater is quite noisy and cycles on and off which wakes me up. Plus, the heat comes out right next to John's feet. So the bed covers keep the heat from getting distributed properly. But, it works quite well. So usually in the morning I'll turn it on to get things properly warmed up again. But we only find we need to use the heaters when it dips into the low 40's and below at night.
When the envelopes are gone, it generally means the campground is "closed" for the season, but you may camp there.
That's an interesting observation. I'll have to examine the board next time. That campground doesn't get a lot of love but I do know it is one of the few that is open year round.
We may have more fall color here in the East but we don’t have those stunning mountain views! Beautiful video❤
I really enjoyed the video!! The fall colors were just stunning this year in Idaho. It was something to see!
Good morning, what kind of trekking poles do you use?
Black Diamond. We learned our lesson not to get the ones that tighten with twist locks. They fail frequently. The thumb locks are faster and better.
The colors and snow on the mountains - stunning! Thanks for letting those of us shoveling snow re-live the beautiful fall!
@@angpb6176 We like to "experience" the snow, but we'll leave the shoveling to you guys.
My husband and I are from Phoenix and newly retired just this year. We were supposed to be in Israel, but our trip was cancelled because of the Hamas attack on Israel, so we went to Kings Canyon National Park, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe instead. On October 19th, we actually stayed at Bridgeport RV in our new Ford Transit van build. We were also at the very area with the golden aspens and the river. We just picked up our custom van in September from Van Haus Van Conversions in Vancouver, WA. They did an excellent job and from start to finish, it took only 3 months. I didn't hear on the exact dates you were at Bridgeport, but it's possible we passed eachother...smal world.
We were there two times. First time leaving on Oct 6 and the second time we left on Oct 18. We went to Bodie from there. Wish we had seen you. Would have loved to have seen your van build.
Your episodes’ story telling are intelligently put together - like John as your demonstrator of “setting up” camp. My style has also become more utilitarian - one chair, metal trash can lid for fires and a “patio awning” when it gets fixed. Keep up your good work.
Thanks!
Debbie, we often visit Anza Borrego SP and sometimes enter the park just past Ocotillo on S2. Next time we will visit the tower and the park which is just west of Ocotillo off of I8. Thank u for highlighting these unique places. We are 70 and last year we purchased a jeep Rubicon and now love off-roading. It presents new opportunities and challenges. We were in Anza Borrego last week and also visited the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreational Area with our Rubicon, for the first time. Here is a UTube link to a video of our trip. ruclips.net/video/0R8h8m18LZ8/видео.html. BTW, we just purchased a 2024 PW XLTS but we need to replace the provided lagun table. The lagun table u have is beautiful. Where did u purchase it? Best wishes to u and John for a happy and healthy new year. Jim and Fran, Scottsdale
If you are referring to the table top, I ordered a custom top on line but I don't remember the name of the company. Shouldn't be hard to find someone.
We missed you by about a week at Anza. We were there for Christmas.
