- Authorities released bodycam video allegedly showing a suspect dragging two Ohio police officers while attempting to speed away in his car to avoid arrest on Sept. 28. The Grove City Police Department said officers attempted to arrest the driver of the vehicle after an officer identified him as someone with outstanding warrants. Police said the suspects, Abel Martinez and his passenger Deanna Faris, allegedly fled the scene after hitting officers and were later caught on foot and arrested.

Amazing..... 2022, and managed to live to adulthood with no ID or any piece of paper with his name on it. LIke straight out of the jungle, or outer space.
I noticed during the scuffle that the body camera said "recording muted" and "recording no longer muted" a couple of times. That shouldn't be a thing. The cameras and microphones should remain on at all times. They shouldn't be able to toggle it on or off. Opens the door for too much impropriety.

Biggest thing I took from this video was how he showed restraint to not shoot at the dude. There was a child in the car that is already being punished enough as it is.
It's hard to make decisions split-second like that as a cop. Luckily he had good instincts.
I know I'm surprised usually cops just start shooting anytime their fefes hurt.

When cops approach a vehicle like this, they should have a small, easy to handle set of tire spikes they can place at the front and rear of tires without driver even noticing it.
That's a superb idea!!!
Failing that, a small magnetic, shaped-charge, that they can place on the roof over the drivers seat. They wouldn't get far with a 2" hole drilled through their body, just saying. I saw the Ukranians do it to great effect with a drone. That T-72 went about 5 feet at most. ;-)

You could easily make the opposite argument, that spending years behind bars for some cocaine is BS and the reason so many people run, because they know their life is over. 25% of the world's prison population is in the US alone.
Once again, as I have said in the past, if you approach a car with someone inside that has known warrants, immediately put stop sticks under the rear tires. In front and in back of the tire. Someone needs to come up with a more compact design just for this purpose.
Stop sticks won’t do anything but flatten the tires, they need to completely immobilize the vehicle with a cruiser.
It's very hard to drive a car with flat tires when you are on adrenaline from running away from armed cops, especially if you haven't practiced. He'll hit a telephone pole by the second corner.

Believe it or not, running from a cop didn't used to be a death sentence. And cops didn't always jump in front of, or behind, or now even to the side of cars like desperate insurance scammers hoping to defraud the drivers car insurance company. Hard to believe but true.

While everyone is focused on the suspect their clearly missing the more scary problem and that's the officer lied about the suspect dragging him.
First he said they ran us over, then he tried to run us over, both lies.
He exercised great restraint in dealing with this guy, then ruined it at the end by lying. Any officer hearing this in the pursuit would be much more likely to use deadly force subsequently.

No, police must give a verbal warning before spraying a suspect and give them proper time to comply, for legal reasons, court evidence.
He did not run you over. You do what so many LE do which I advise against, don't get into cabin and do not put yourself in position of really being dragged and/or run over. Your should have OC'd him early on that battle.

Each civilised country has majority of its population who do not decide to assault peace officers. I do not understand why those culprits who do are still allowed to walk around to be able to do it. what is funny? he did. when you start trying to drive your car when there is someone hanging through the door, when you drive in reverse with summertime standing behind your open door, you are trying to run them over. the police had every right to be standing where they were doing what they were doing, he has no right to put their lives at risk just because he didn't want to get arrested. what do you think made the police suddenly let go and fall over backwards? it was when he suddenly put it into reverse and backed up knocking them over with his door. you didn't seriously think he was talking about when the guy drove off afterwards did you? what did you think made them both suddenly let him go and fall over on the ground anyway? if you were in the act of climbing into your buddies car and he suddenly accelerated in reverse, hitting you with the door and knocking you over, driving a couple of feet from your head as you lay on the ground, I bet you would complain and say he tried to run you over as well. you don't need to be actively aiming at driving over a person, well you need to do is drive in such a way that it creates a risk that you will strike them or knock them over, let alone actually passing over their body. so you also object to someone saying they got run over when they actually just went over the hood and stuck the windshield? I suppose the officer should have stopped and chosen his words more carefully and said "suspect struck us with his vehicle"? got to be accurate, no matter the circumstances, right?

Before an officer can use any kind of force they have to announce x3 if they can. That’s why they go “taser, taser, taser” on camera so when it comes to court, the judge sees it

@@Jdaminbf4 No, it isnt. Until someone is convicted the word 'allegedly' is used in reporting simply to avoid any legal issues, such as defamation cases. No one wants to be sued for false reporting if something doesnt go to trial or doesnt end in a conviction.

After doing active shooter drills and having adrenaline kicking it’s so hard to think before you call up on a radio. That’s why he’s trying to figure out what to call up while it’s all unfolding. Crazy, happened to me.

Imagine forgetting your ID at home and then getting pulled over that same day. Doesn't happen. People with something to hide never have an ID on them.
Happens ALL the time. Even more these days because people have smartphone with their credit card on it so there’s no need to carry a wallet.
