  • The Fokker Eindecker was one of the most influential aircraft of all time. A monoplane fighter of World War 1, it was the first such aircraft fielded by the Germans, and for a short time won air superiority over the Western Front in a period known as the Fokker Scourge. Its legacy and those of its pilots persists to this day.

The first woman who ever flew this plane was dubbed "Mother Fokker".

Redesigning an old Bleriot and making the best plane of the early war, maybe Fokkers greatest achievement

Thank You; The Eindecker may have had its faults but for 6 months it was the only & first relatively effective fighter..

I am waiting for your historical review of the Fokker D VII.
Although I have studied the D VII and other WW1 planes quite a bit, your analysis goes so much deeper.
    Very impressive.

Ehh ... Don't expect too much. Forgotten Aviation has some nasty bee in his bonnet about Fokker.

    G'day,
Well, your description of the use of Blipping a Rotary Engine was flat out wrong mate.
The Blip-Switch was used to maintain Full-Throttle Fuel/Air settings on the Engine, but slowing it's RPM (and thus reducing the developed Thrust) by short-circuiting the Ignition, it was used for up to 10 seconds at a time, after which a "Blip" of Power was applied - to burn off the Fuel and Oil otherwise accumulating in the unfired Cylinders.
The Blip Switch was used for Taxying, and Descending within the Circuit-Area, and while approaching to land.
It was vital to Clear the Engine before commencing to Round-out and Flare, so as to both be able to slow down enough to alight, and to be able to access Full Power without suffering a Rich-Mixture Cut, or an Oiled Plugs Cut should one attempt to Go Around following a Missed Approach.
The Blip Switch had Sweet Fanny Adams to do with
"...turning tightly, to get it around faster.."
    (SFA, Sweet Fcuk All...)
Every two or three of your Videos one seems to contain an absolute Show-Stopper of a Wrongness, like this one ; and it's bloody irritating, mate..., it shines a light on the point that a little Knowledge can be a dangerous thing.
The first such a Clanger I noticed, was when you invented such a meaninglessly idiosyncratic pronunciation for
    "Longeron"
that I had to rewind and take a second run at it, navigating by context, to decipher what the bloody hell you thought that you meant to say.
How the hell do you manage to produce so many otherwise delightful and informative Videos..., when such lapses show your actual understanding to be a trifle Swiss-Cheesy - if ye'll pardon the pun ?
Anyway, think on it as being Constructive Criticism, olde Bean ; eh, what ?
    Such is life,
    Have a good one...
    Stay safe.
    ;-p
    Ciao !

Off topic, could you do a you tube on the airframe construction of the Hurricane?

Forgive me if I’m wrong but weren’t there a few of these equipped with a rack on the side to hold small aerial bombs?

I've heard that Fokker Eindeckers, or more correctly their pilots, did drop small bombs on occasion. I can't imagine this was a regular occurrence. Given that early aircraft had severe limitations as to the weight they could carry, I would be surprised if this went beyond simply dropping a bomb or two over the side. Actually I'm surprised the Eindecker carried two machine-guns, as the weight penalty of the extra gun and accompanying ammunition could have impacted performance. The later Hanriot HD.1, for example, could be fitted with two, but generally wasn't because the aircraft's aerial attributes were negatively affected, and this was later in the war when aeroplanes were more sophisticated.

Huh? Fokker a traitor to his country??? Why? The Netherlands were not even at war with Germany during WW I.
Actually came close to declaring war on the Allies after the Brits accidentally bombed Zierikzee. Reluctant British apologies settled it ...
