A real stab at companies like Google / Apple but the films ending is it's biggest letdown. It had many elements from The Truman Show which had a proper conclusion.

“Unfulfilled potential” was the sentence that resonated with me during the movie because it shows how our minds fixate on something like work and literally engulfs our lives and everyone else’s lives. We lose our senses in a whole other world. We humans can fixate on something and can turn into something great (and not so great). But the future is inevitable and like Mae’s comparison to the idea of the Circle to airplanes, when it crashes we don’t abandon planes, but make them safer,,, it really shows that this is frightening but very realistic. The ideas in this movie have not left my mind. Mae’s sociopathic character reflects upon a lot of leaders in today’s society.
I am currently "engulfed", which has led me here, lol. Beautifully explained/stated.
The entire movie was also unfulfilled potential, according to many.
Critics heavily panned the film, it underperformed at the box-office and poor Emma Watson was nominated for a Worst Actress Razzie (she lost to Tyler Perry)

Still havent seen this movie but holy cow. The plot is based on real life occurrences which have been going on for so many years. From our Government, to every single piece of Social media including youtube. We are being watched 24/7 by google and also Facebook with its vast amount of accompanied Apps.

It doesn't "sell your information." Common misconception. There's no reason for them to do so, considering user trust is a huge part of what go it to where it is now.
For me the ending was perfect, it was a message, "if we are to live in a world with total transparency, NO ONE SHOULD BE ABOVE IT!!"

Like Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc., RUclips is actively working to censor and suppress anything that isn't Liberal ideology. This film was going to be released here in Australia on May 25th, then it was postponed to July 13th and on July 9th, when I was really looking forward to it, I noticed it had been postponed again to August 17th. Gotta admit, I was surprised it didn't end in the whole cliche "girl realizes company is evil and takes it down" kind of way, the ending really shocked me, I wasn't expecting her to do THAT! But then again it's based on a book, if it was down to hollywood the ending would have been much different. It's a great film. Go watch it!

Frankly i haven't read the Circle. is it any good ? Cause hollywood usually distorts whole novels grand schemes for "cinematic" reasons as they say.
Bilal Green in my opinion, having read the novel it is excellent (terrifyingly realistic). I do fear Hollywood will distort the novel to appeal to a large audience though
What went through my head while watching this:
1. Emma Watson's American accent is pretty decent.
2. I never know whether job interviewers want you to spout bullshit answers to dumbass questions or if they'd be impressed with an honest answer for once (e.g. "Why do you want to work here?," "Well, I really admire the company's commitment to blah blah blah" vs. "Well, I need a job and you're hiring.")
3. Tom!
4. Is that Soylent she's drinking at 0:45?
5. Reminds me of a Black Mirror episode.
6. Hermione and Finn! Righteous.
7. "We're Watching You" song is a little on the nose.
I hate Danny Elfman's version of the hymn about Where God wants Us to Be. Its creepy.
Most companies do NOT want honest answers, of course. They want lies, they know they are lies. but it would still leave them with a good impression because you happen to know the etiquette and what to say and how to say it. This would mean you are adequate and analytical, or at least prepared. The whole HR industry is based on particular etiquettes and dynamics and most of them are closely following them. Most questions (at least in the good companies) are not random. They know why they are asking exactly these questions so you have to be careful what answers you would give. But it is truly great when things go beyond all that crap and you make a good discussion, that will show much more about the job, you and their company.
One of those movies where two superstars are wasted smh you had Hanks and Watson and you make this!

This looks promising. The novel was fantastic, and judging by this trailer the film looks to be mostly faithful to that.

Bryce Eivins The cinematography looks absolutely gorgeous, it really does set the tone of the book - even the music in this trailer has a very sinister effect and that says a lot about the story.
Imagine living in a society where everyone knows everything, privacy and intimate relationships between people would be gone and what I loved about this book was it brought those topics up as well.
I'm especially excited to see Karen playing Annie, those shots of her looking very held together and professional then emotionally drained and tearful - she'll be perfect

Its more shallow than that I think. Only watched the movie of 1984 either but it seemed more deep in touching on mass psychology much more and it's like a whole dictatorship. In this movie it's just like a cult with rather simple brainwashing.
Theres for sure some parelel. And it definitely seems much more connected to current times and reminds ofcompany's we know etc.
It does touch on tactics quite well that could be used today or are used partly. Like trading freedom and personal privacy for savety.
But watching I felt like it was very obvious and all the people including the main character seemed very naiv in going along with it. I didn't understand why there was so much appeal of total transparency and giving up any privacy. Like what need is that in people? Who the hell is tired of any privacy and desperate to give it up completely just by itself. Didn't get that realy.

I feel as if Emma Watson will have an amazing 2017, with Beauty and the Beast and The Circle .
The ending was so stupid. There was no conclusion.
