    I was already in Schutzhund when Dr. Raiser made his rotten fish speech at the SV. I can tell you that when he had the strength of character to speak up, his speech reverberated throughout the Schutzhund community worldwide. He had the courage to speak for the entire working dog community. I have never had the opportunity to meet him, but in my eyes, he has the courage of a pride of lions. Everyone knew what he said and that he truly cared about maintaining the character of the working dog.

    I'm glad he mentioned how dog training was in the past and how it is now. It lacked compassion and welfare but these days most trainers are pushing for better knowledge.
    How it was in the past is not a reason for these "purely positive" trainers to use as an advertisement for balanced training to be seen as an evil process in modern times.
    Dog training should be seen as dog training and the well-being of the animal should always be the number 1 priority!

    Fantastic talk - the time flew by. Thank you both. I think Dr Raiser will (or should) have many young people offering to work in his practice for 12 hours every day, never mind 8 - cleaning, reception, maintenance, then walk his dogs and clean his kennels - just for his wisdom and training in dog sport. I would if I was young!

    • @driffielddodger7412

      Grey refers to barking and active aggression, green = prey, blue = obedience. The colours are a just a simple way to remember that if we manage the drive changes we'll then the work in protection will also go well. See the old Aristo DVD for practical demonstrations.

      @ilschh Год назад

      He speaks "German English" sometimes, and yes, perhaps harder to understand if you don't know the history. I wondered that some people may not be able to follow. I also wasn't familiar with the colors, since I have been out of the sport for many years.

    • @driffielddodger7412
      @driffielddodger7412 Год назад +2

      @@jalek626rey = active aggression in barking, green= prey, blue = obedience. It's really just an idea to try and get people to remember what the drive changes are in protection training. The Aristo DVD from many years ago gives practical examples on how a dog can be trained to move between the different drives.

    I don't think Herr Helmut Raiser is all that. When he worked in the kennels he used to beat them, even so hard that a dog lost his teeth. 'Fear creates respect'. No, fear creates fear and your dog will work for you out of fear. That's not a healthy relationship. I have a doberman and let me tell you, he is not 'ruined' and the breed is also not 'totally death'. But you need to have a doberman to know that.
