I just wanted to say thank you to Jared and all the people who are putting so much effort into giving the world these fantastic lessons for free! I'm very grateful because I can't afford drum lessons but I love playing the drums so I wouldn't be anywhere if it wasn't for you guys, thank you.
Haven't tried triplets before! Today's lesson was quite a challenging one I thought but I'm still trying to do continuous heel toe technique! Like, when I try to make it seem like I'm rolling on the kick drum, it sounds awkward with da-da da-da da-da instead of da-da-da-da-da-da.... Um ya, still developing the technique, hope one day I'll be as good as you!
@MrDrumCover123 Check out my one handed roll videos on this channel. I do something like that in the intro of one of the vids and then teach it later on. Also, the Bass Drum Secrets package has TONS of those examples for those that really want to study further.
@sergiudrummer Pedal doesn't matter. You don't need this pedal to do this technique or these exercises.
i LOVE how your grooves are visually set out with the count in the middle and all the shots with the notation at the bottom, makes it really easy. Thanks much dudes
Excellent video Jared. The editing is perfect and I love that you play each groove at two different tempos. makes it easier to figure out!

Been following Jared for a while from UK. Bought my drumming to a great level after 6 months on line lessons. Shows you what a quality class act he is watching these lessons.
Just gonna say this, thank you for putting the sheet music at the bottom. It's helping me learn to read sheet music for drums. I should probably learn that before too long.
You are gregous! I learnt your technique in 15 mins while I had been looking ways of double timing my bass drum for years and years...Thanks very much!
@drummingFelix Thank you. It's awesome being a part of the online drumming community.
@McGonzo83 I tighten the spring a little over half way... So a "medium-tight" tension. You don't want it too loose.
@thedrumgenie I don't think pedals make that much of a difference to how fast you can play. It's all technique and practice practice practice.
@TheDrumKing98 This is a tough one... Go find the "How To Muffle Your Drums" video on this channel... There are some tips in that video that will help.
heel toe is like the royal class for a talented bassdrum player. I remember Miss May I, some kind of a selling out Metalcore Band, I believe. the drummer actually uses these techniques on double bass and he can be amazingly fast with his feet with that. I think it's a great video, there are just few drummers that actually rip that technique apart because it seems to be hard to explain this. you did a good job Jared. though I unfortunately don't play drum myself I really enjoy your stuff!
Jared I have a question. Are there any tips you can give on adjusting a pedal to make the heel-toe technique easier? I know im most cases it all depends on how comfortable I am but if there are any general tips you can muster it will be greatly appreciated. (P.S. I have a Speed Cobra too and its awesome!)
@AnimalsAsLeaders100 I have a 16" Paiste Signature China and an 18" Paiste Alpha Swiss cymbal. Both sound pretty awesome.
@croninluke7708 This used to be the case for myself as well but you get used to it. You just have to practice it like crazy.
@nigelregan Hmmm... If you've been practicing for 12 months and haven't got it then there is something more at play here. Can you upload a video of yourself performing the technique for me to see? Then post it to my Facebook page and I'll review it for you.
Best drum tutorial channel on youtube!
@TheMcShay Shure EC3 in-ear monitors.
Excellent video, as are all the others. Just started practicing my heel-toe technique so this video helps alot! By the way, sorry if you've already answered this, but what kind of china is that? It sounds magnificent.
hey Jared, love the vids mate
here is a question for you: To what extent do you think that your pedals are a determinant of your 'skill' at bass/double bass drumming
thankyou from Canberra, Oz!
Jared, you are an awsome drummer!
your kick drum sounds phenomenal ...
hi jared! i would like to know if is right to play around with tempos and grooves.. putting here and there the heel-toe technique... i think the "profesional" way to learn the correct technic is the way you teach, but i want to know that!.. thanks for all this vids man!
I have been trying to do this technique for years and just quite haven't nailed it yet. These videos are inspiring me to pick it back up and give it another go. I really want those kicks. I did laugh pretty hard when I saw the snowboard boot in the how to vid!! hehehehehe. That really opened my eyes to the fact I just need to practice this more. I discovered this tech a while ago by a guy named Joe Strongsic called the ballistic bass drum technique. basically the same thing.
@DeterminanteDMT Yah you should always learn all the exercises at many different tempos. Don't limit yourself to just the tempos I demo.
I love the last one! and the other... was awesome too! I'm gonna learn this technique..
Excellent lesson Jared...thank you !
Great techniques. Is Jared also pulling the beater from the head?? And his petal obviously has a good response as well.
thank you so much for posting this, this is my only down fall when i play. I've been playing for 6 years and of course im alot better now but when i do my rolls around the set they don't sound full with out the heel-toe technique. My main questions is how long should I practice this technique during the day?
@wendepic In the last couple of months. I like it so far.
It does help tremendously if have small feet or a big foot board. Atleast I couldn't do this on the gibraltar intruders, but I use Heel toe, Jared uses middle of the foot toe.
thanks for all the heel toe technique videos it helped when i went to record with my band and only have a single pedal lol
@twistedlordi Yes!
Really cool. we should do the same with the left foot so they stay balanced on control right ?
Great Vid Jared! Really helped!
I love this. It is realy helpful. Thanks
I have a pare of cobras and since I'm small they're a bit heavy for me do you have any suggestions on some good quality but easy to work with pedals?
Pearl Demon Drive
@severedties24 Hey post some links to your shirt on my Facebook page, I'll check them out.
best drum-tutorial i have seen so far *worship*
This vid and the heel-toe technique video was so helpful! Jared you so great!
I have a question
Should you make sure your foot goes all the way down, flat on the footboard with this technique? Because I can produce the two hits without going that far, and it's faster, but with less control. Which is better?
How long do you thingk i have to practice the heel toe technic???
Thanks you made really good videos!!!
Say I'm looking to buy a new pedal, what kind of pedal should I look out for to learn the heel toe?
Believe it or not, I've been trying to do the heel toe for almost 5 years already. I spent the first 3-4 years learning it wrongly, playing the first note with the actual heel, which somewhat worked for me. That was when I thought I needed a longboard pedal.
But then Jared obviously shown that this is wrong. So now I'm starting over. I can do it, but when I try to apply it, it won't come out.
no bloopers in this video? I always love them :-) amazing video again, thanks so much
@twistedlordi
yes you can get to crazy speed with double bass heeltoe.
i think its cool and nice but again developing your single stroke speed would be better for you
@PadiPadinski I don't think there was a lot of bloopers on this one. It was a better day :)
thank you very much morbid man good advice
Ok im just now getting back to playing the drums but that was amazing.
Hey Jarrod, just a quick question can you do this technique on Iron cobras? I have a big foot so when i play with shoes i have to angle my toe off to the right of the foot board and after a few strokes ill kick the spring pff the sprocket, Its not intentional but are they any ways i can prevent this? please message me. thanks
If you did heel-toe with a double pedel on both, can you get it going at like crazy speeds, and would you advise that?
Massive lesson.. so valuable :)
@SuperJumpingbunny I know!!!! Holla!
aha, i found my mistakes, i drop my toe first then my heel :3 btw, can you adjust the 'bouncy-ness' of your pedal?
the last one seems to be sped up XD Thank you again for uploading this amazingly useful stuff for free :)
I hope I can do that insane last one some day!
When did you start using the rack? It may easen up your life but It doesnt fit my playstyle:P
love all those tshirts
that beat at 7:50 is awesome

@aitorgarci Now that you said that people will start disliking it just to be the first. It's all good though. :)
ex5 the notation "2 &" and "4 &" the hand should be reverse (e=L &=R), right?
@roundabout145 Favourite comment EVER!
does anyone know if the rebound of the bass drum matter? cos' I have an electric kit with that rubber pad, that provides barely any rebound for the kick.
This is so fun when you´ve learned it xD!
@DeterminanteDMT ah, yes... i would love to see a video about fills with heel-toe technique
@sergiudrummer Jared would answer that you can make magic with any pedal.
After watching jojo dvd chapter about heel toe i simply learned it some. But i find that this explanation is a bit different cause jojo dont explain any first heel hit, the first hit is by all foot not starting from heel action
haha that last one was tricky but fun good lesson :)
Hi I don,t have control on base drum , an you please suggest me some good exercise only for getting control on my leg and base drum.
may I ask you which headphones you are using?
Can you do one with this involving the double pedal?
Oh my beejeebies. I started working on the triple kick today, and it's giving me a heck of a time. Haha. Thanks for explaining though! It's really easy to understand! Hard to perfect :/
Jared, you are a great teacher. You make it simple. Einstein (allegedly) said, "If you can't explain it to a 6-year-old, you don't understand it yourself." Well, I'm that 6-year-old. I get it! Thanks.
@agaen96 Paiste endorsement FTW :)
the last two i play when im jamming anyway :p i use slide technique though
Awsome!!! keep them coming :-D
I wont to play along with you on my bass!!
what head r u using on your bass drum?
kool shit man
love the top xD
lol love the shirt
What comes first? The heel or toe? Hard to see the actual motion.
Heel
what kind of pedal is that?
The last run through i would love to do, but that looks fucking just SO hard
my problem. is I get bad inner thigh leg cramp
Awesome thanx for the info
@VanjaLibric Me to :O
My god, where did all the cymbals come from?
People can use the slide technique for these beats, that's what I do... It's just easier for me!
7:45 his foot :x WTF? EPIC
❤️❤️❤️
I can do it and i drum for only three months lol . I'm bad but heel toe started 2 feel normal
Great fucking drumming! But I came here for Heel toe patterns (Double Bass).
**Request** Becoming - Pantera

@xcatxcrazyx404 Tama Speedcobra

And who needs a double kick drum when your that prolific with just one!?!?
Where do you buy all these fecking t-shirts?
you are a god (troll voice)
