Living full-time in my rolling tiny home has been the best decision of my life. Off-Grid living offers a peace and connection to life that you just can't explain. When i first started van life i build a stealth camper van with the mindset the you had to live a stealth van life and i soon discovered that you can just live the city van life and boondock in the countryside and as long as you are respectful of the backcountry and cities you live in. Stealth van life in not necessary. Be proud of the life you choose to live, Share this van life journey with everyone. Remember Tiny Homes and The whole tiny house lifestyle is very popular and #vanlife is no different. When you don't hide it people will come say hi and ask you questions. The world is more curious than hateful. Well......Welcome to my everyday van life adventures. My name is Chrome Valdez and i travel full-time with Cruz the bulldog. Stay weird everyone and thank you for being here.
Wow! I am floored by the reaction to this video! Thank you Chrome you make me look much better on camera lol
Thank you everyone for their kind words, as I mentioned in the video this a great community. I have been in the van 2 months now and there has definitely been some purging, reorganizing and more purging lol
I'll try to answer as many of the comments as I can . Thank you all again.!
Visit home depot , find ArticKing foam duct insulation . Has foil 1 side , adhesive other side with R3 foam . Easy apply to inside roof for winter . Use on Foam boards to insulate windows & block light . It's about 17$us & covers lots .
Great video 👍
You are a strong woman who has taken back her life after someone else tried to trash it...I admire you so much. Best wishes for all your plans and I hope you get to see your children and father soon!
How are your cats adjusting? I hope you’re ok.
amazing and inspirational! I'm 65 and going to build a camper on my Mazda pickup, til I find a van I can afford. I love your setup... I want to travel coast to coast (I live on Vancouver Island) so need something like yours for my 2 big dogs, cat, little bunny and me: eating, sleeping, hidey space for kitty--such an awesome idea for kitties!!!
Wow! That lady has got a lot of courage. Getting hit by a triple whammy: personal, financial and the pandemic, and she gets back up and deals with it.
I wish you the best, Kelly!
Strong Lady Blessings to her
I agree also from experience never have joint accounts protect yourself because you never know. i still believe in love and bright futures. She's amazing you are going to be more than alright!
@@melissareid640 I’ve been there as well. After the sting it took a long time for me to become the right man, and then find the right woman. Happy to say that after 28 years she’s still talking to me.💕
Right On!! Cool Van
Bless you. Hope only the best for you. Would have loved seeing her cats. Animal lovers are the best !!!
Those are two lucky kitty cats
Instead of whining and crying she took control of her life very impressed
Im with Smoochie , love that you allow Kelly to talk without jumping in. She told her story and I wish her nothing but the best in her new life.....
Great build. Well thought out. Better than most I've seen in my research.
Good for her, taking back her financial freedom..many blessings to her and her fur babies. 🥰
Wow, I'm so impressed with Kelley. She's taken the bull by the horns to make a new life for her and her cats. She's likely much stronger than she ever knew.
Many years ago, this could have been me. Back then I never even considered living on the road.. it just wasn't a thing. Knowing then what I know now, I definitely would have given it a go.
I wish Kelley much healing and peace as she navigates her new life.💜
My father became a Van Lifer when I was 14. I'm 63. He bought a Jewel Tea delivery truck and built himself a great home on wheels. At the time, I didn't realize why he built it, but he lived in it when he and my mother divorced. He was great with tools so he built everything he needed from his bed, cabinets, mini-kitchen, everything. I'd love to live in a van just like he built.
@@rosemarie20 That sounds so cool. Were you able to save any pictures?
@@alana7228 No. That was 50 years ago; taking pictures wasn't as quick and easy as it is now. I'm not even sure I had my own camera at that age. I remember being Daddy's gofer -- gofer a cuppa coffee, gofer the hammer, gofer that screwdriver -- and getting to help. Wish we could print the pictures in our mind's eye, there'd be dozens.
@@rosemarie20 So true.. oh the photo albums we'd have if we could print from our mind's eye.👍
Years ago gyms with showers were not an option, as they are now. I'm going to do this starting next May, but would NEVER do this if gym showers weren't available.
It hurts me to know that she has to live this way because of some setbacks in life but I pray that she
receives all the good life has to offer. Go Kelly!
Tell Kelly that she is going to be okay
You just did 🙏🙏🙏

Chrome if you have a way to get in touch with Kelly I’d love to contribute something to help. As a former veterinary assistant I understand completely how the industry is a labour of love. Also she has the most creative cat step up for van life!
Chrome! I’m SO glad to see you doing van tours of more unique builds. There are so many videos of expensive, high-end builds and I think it’s absolutely awesome to show what regular folks on a budget can do, just as creatively and passionately. Her build is so personal and born out of difficult circumstances, shows how you can grab back your independence and turn your life into an adventure instead of a tragedy. Bravo! Hope there are more of these!
Way to go, lady! Money in the bank and freedom awaits you! By not crying over spilled milk and taking charge of her life, Kelly is an inspiration! I hope to do a van build to save some money and travel around after my daughter goes off to college. Two years to go...😃 Thank you for sharing, Kelly! Blessings to you on your new adventures 💗
Kelly, you are an amazing and gutsy woman. Good, for you, for not letting a betrayal defeat you despite the financial consequences. Stay positive, move forward, and Very Best Wishes!
God love her, she's made super use of the space. Cats take up a lot of room...a work in progress but impressed with her conviction. She is a warrior princess, I love her!
I love love love this video, It shows the reality that is life for some of us. Learning to live within your means after live changing situations is hard and hat's off to this lady for her bravery and resilience.
You go grrrrrlfriend! I'm 62 and having to start completely over after losing my beloved husband to ALS in April of this year. I lost everything. Wiped out financially and every other way. I was able to get a very used motor home and have been working on it while living in it with my two Giant Schnauzers. New chapter, new adventure!
Deb my heart hurts for your loss. I'm so glad you're moving forward and creating your own new space! Money is a thing so try to view it like that. Wishing you the best!
@@dany-lgoten2273 Thank you, Dany!
I pick lumber for free at home building sites here in Texas. When the framers are done there leave mountains of great quality lumber. That is a lot of money I don't have to use on renovations. I'm also using wood from my barn and old fences on my farm I had to leave.
There’s hope for me! Thanks for sharing your story. I’m starting over as well after moving to another state to help take care of my mom. Well after I got there my mom changed her mind. I was kicked out of her apartment, brother didn’t want me around him and his wife, sister didn’t want me. Always worked and had my own but then pandemic hit and the job market kind of left me hanging . This thread had has helped me to get over my anger and know that I too can rebuild at this stage! God’s speed to you after losing your husband.🙏🏾
Respect for you Chrome letting this awesome Lady tell her story, And respect to Kelly a brave step and moving on xx ATB to you both Stephen UK
This moved me. God bless you Kelly. I hope the next decade is so much better.
Nice story - well Done
Aw, what a GREAT cat mommy! I love her build, especially that natural wood in there. I’d hire her for my next van build! Kelly, may the next chapter in your be the grandest of all.
That's a really tough thing to go through but sounds like you're coming out of it better off. Your resourcefulness and courage are admirable and your kind spirit shines through. Stay safe and be well.
Been in my van for a year. The first couple of nights are weird, but now not living in the van is weird.
Kelley Thank you for sharing your story. Blessings to you. Chrome thank you for sharing. Sherry
Kelly you are beautiful. Hang in there. I am rockin my mini van with a small dog. Love and blessings to you!
Good for her taking her life and freedom back. I pray it works out for her. God bless her.
Kelly thank you for sharing your life. 😊
So impressed with you. Love to hear how you are doing later on. Especially how your cats are doing in the new environment. You’re an inspiration to us all
I so much admire this woman at the same time it hurts my heart. I will be praying for you! May God bless you and keep you, may He make His face to shine upon you and give you the strength to not only meet each day, but to prosper!
This is what I plan to do when I retire in 7 years, maybe sooner because I don't want to depend on anyone except me!
She is so right about not wanting roommates. It was an excellent interview. Her authenticity in sharing her personal trials. Plus the van build looks cozy! She seems to be in a good place.
What a kind lady. I wish her all the best.
Thanks for sharing Kelly!
Prayers for you Kelly, I can relate with what you're going through, but happened to me long before I got into van life, however, you're strong and don't give up, each time time we go through things in life, sets us up for a new and different journey, with hope we don't miss the turn again and don't go back into a similar situation, to keep going forward no matter the struggles, life isn't easy, but to just keep breathing and live a day and a step at a time, tomorrow is never promised, but when tomorrow becomes a new today, it's another new day to live and move on the best we can for each day given. I've made it through all that mess through time, and here I am living like never before too. Van life is also much less stressful too, can start saving more money, and gain back some things little bit by little bit, too, especially the more important things in life, there's always hope in every new day that comes and goes. Blessings to you Kelly, and thanks Chrome for sharing this with compassion too. Be blessed and safe. 💖🤗 Give Cruzzie hugs for me too 😊
What an absolutely beautiful story...this woman is a survivor with a plan amidst everything in her past..PLEASE PLEASE tell us how we can send $$$ not as charity but for love and support and kindness from our hearts!!!!!
That has to be the best minivan build out I’ve ever seen. Life’s lessons are so hard, but when you bounce back you come back with a vengeance. This will be so healing for her, I wish her all the very best. Thank you for sharing her story. Safe travels🙏🏽
What a lovely lady and a lovely little home she has made. I am the same age and can relate to her story. The main reason I’m not living in a van is because I have my youngest (12 years). Good luck to you Kelly 💕 and thanks for posting Chrome x
@@ya472 I know they do but it’s not suitable for my disabled daughter 🥴
Thank you Kelly for sharing your life with us and I know it’s gonna be ok for you chin up and move forward it’s gonna be great living in your van so Welcome to vanlife..........
You got this Kelly! Other vanners will be your support. Take it one day at a time. ❤
WOW!! Amazing Way to take your power back Kelley. What an inspiration
Wow, her van have so many cool details. The countertop, the life edge utensil door, the cats penthouse... What an amazing built. I wish her luck in her journey to recover for financial loss. I hope I don't get in trouble by suggesting she listen to choosefi podcast and the mrmoneymustache podcast. I think she can find great articles that help her with the finance stuff and some great interviews with people with similar situations. Best of luck in journey and adventure, it only get better from here. ❤️
Wish her well. May her life be filled with happiness. She seems like such a really nice person.
kelley is another example, in these times we live in, well she a rock star!
What you've done with your minivan really makes it homey and cozy. From everything I've seen watching VanLifers, one has to be able to think critically and be creative to be able to live this lifestyle and enjoy it. My hope is to join you folks in the near future.
I just love how people financially screw others over! 😡 I hope she recovers 10 times better than her ex!
She will
OMGosh! How absolutely cruel what her boyfriend did....
I wish Kelly & her cats all the best that life has to offer her she certainly deserves it. Karma omg 😲
Your a awesome dude Chrome! Tks for sharing Kellys story.. Emotional
Kelly, I love the build. Thanks for sharing. I learned some stuff and I can appreciate the fact that sometimes we have to do a life reset.
All the best Kelley:)
Thanks Kelly for giving some of the rest of us hope for our futures instead of worry about how we would survive if in or faced with the same situation. We pray the best for you and that you can reunite soon with family.
Good luck to Kelly. No joint accounts. I learned that the hard way too. Sad you can't always trust. She's gonna need more than a Jackery 500 to run a fridge and fans etc. Maybe someone can hook her up a bit.
Im hoping she has access to shore power here and there on top of in house power. I like to let things rip when Im able to plug into a service pole on private land 😀
The jackery is mostly running my heater right now and that's most important. Down the road I hope to add solar.
@@wiccandove I'd love to be your big brother for a day so I could put some manners into your ex......
@@thospop Amen to that! Good ol' Yeshua style!, make a whip to wack em and flip over tables! 😎
I wish this lovely lady much luck and happiness in her new journey. God bless
I so glad she doing what she needs to do get back on her feet. I hope very soon she can see her children and her family. That has to be so hard
Good for you, Kelly ....hoping you have much success on your van life journey and thanks Chrome for sharing her experience....Big Hugs to Cruz..... Thanks for the video 🦁🐶🦁🐶🦁
Hey Kelley. I live in a small van too. For over a year now. Best thing I ever did was move out of my flat into this van....
Wow she’s so amazing 💕😀love the red wood tent.
What a great omen meeting Chrome on your first full day out, best of luck, have a blast!!
Thanks for this video. Life can really throw you a curve. Great to see van life helping her get back on her feet.
Thanks Kelly for sharing your story.
You’re strong❤️❤️
Proof that at any age you can gain wisdom and faith in yourself, by finding that strength you didn’t know you had....Kelly & 🐱 cat’s will be alright. Thanks for the awesome video Chrome & Cruz.
Stay Safe
Wow that's amazing! Very crafty! Love it.
Good for you. Takes guts to do what you're doing. You have my respect and admiration.
Good luck in your new life, Kelley. May you be blessed with love and luck along the way. Stay safe!
God bless Kelley. She has the "can do" spirit of taking a difficult situation and finding a solution
herself and I really respect that. The only suggestion I can make is she has a carbon monoxide detector in that small space with the diesel heater, and to get that roof insulated before the harsh winder starts. (I know Chrome is very paranoid of this so I'm sure has already suggested the CO detector to her.)
Nice build for the cats for sure
I really hope everything works out for her, she’s had a rough ride. My heart goes out to her.
Good luck to Kelly. Each day you get stronger. The heart always heals. Your build is beautiful.👌✊🙋♀️xxx
A truly remarkable story of a strong woman! Wishing her all blessings she deserves. There are so many more people going to living on wheels and some not for retirement but for survivability. Certain places here in the states are seeing more evictions because people have lost their jobs. More families living together and I see this trend growing. For some hard times can be turned into new opportunities. Thank you Chrome for the interview. She really did a good job inside her van and including 2 cats! Where there’s a will there’s a way! Safe travels to everyone👍😁
Great video Chrome! Good luck Kelly, great advice, nice van! Be safe and Happy 😊
A wonderful story. Best of luck to Kelly and her journey.
This is an incredible interview. You let her talk and she is such an amazing women.

Love the cat cubbies. Cute build. All the best to Kelly and her new life.
Hat off to Kelley bless her heart!! And hat off to you once again as you just let her say about everything and not take it over like people on other channels.
Everything happens for a reason!!!

She has a really nice set up! So sorry to hear about her circumstances! 💜
Well done to you Kelly, it's a lovely build and hopefully you will get back to where you were but maybe you might decide that van life is great and you might get a bigger van and continue on as I think home is where you are comfortable xx

Been living in a grand caravan for almost a year. Minivans have their own challenges but I love it!
I want all the best for her ! She deserves it ! Good for her. Im getting ready to become a nomad in a 1992 ford. With no build.
I love her van, it’s cozy and I’m sure the cats love it too. Her story is inspiring, I like how she didn’t have excuses and changing her life around. In the process I’m sure she will love her freedom to travel. I hope she makes a RUclips channel
I LOVE that the cat van lady is covered in cat hair! Good luck Kelly.
