The cat is finally out of the bag so I can show everyone this new rig that I have been keeping secret for the last year. Loose lips sink ships. You can call it a bike check, first look, bike build, whatever suits your fancy. The new Yeti SB140 29 is the every-man's trail bike of choice for basically anything and everything that you can throw at it. This is a replacement for 130LR, a bike which I have always loved. Subtle refinements and attention to detail have produced the next generation of trail bike bliss. People like to use the phrase "quiver killer" and I honestly don't subscribe to that theory, but this is as close as you are going to get to the mythical unicorn bike. I know you were hoping for a drink recipe, but this is just mezcal, bubbly water and a fresh lemon. I will leave the fancy things to my bike. Sometimes simple is better with cocktails.

Love it. First thing I thought about when the new Yetis landed was 'I hope Nate does a build video' Seems like the Yeti teams made some nice improvements over the old frames. Keep up the great work, follow cam Friday is a religion for me.
The engineers that have been working on this for the last two years absolutely crushed it. Props to those legends!
@@natehills9388 indeed, some really clever work getting the bearings into the link and improving the various axles with collet axles, not to mention the UDH and threaded BB. Should reduce the maintenance required which means more riding!

@@natehills9388 36t? Dang, my Spectral 2019 can only take 34 round and currently is with 32 oval. I have a spare 36t al7075 absoluteBlack made in Poland, hopefully, I'll use it in some future build. Also, that sausage going through the headtube, made me LMAO!
Dhf in the rear! I sometimes slide out when tech climbing but that has more to do with user error.
That's a one beef stick build for sure!
Always lube that bottle bracket….before insertion.
Sick bike, great vid, best bike build on the the tube. I tried a DHF on the rear on my slash (because I saw you run it!), but didn’t like it at all felt super draggy and I lost it multiple times In the corner if I even sneezed at the brakes! Back to the aggressor and Ass guy in front obvi is excellent I like the idea of running DD instead of inserts (which I’m doing now). Really appreciate hearing your thoughts on all the products as you build, super helpful to wanna be shreders like myself.
When I raced DH full time, I ran double DHF's for 8 years straight, haha. Ive literally burned through more than 100 in the last 20 years if riding bikes.
Just wanted to come here to appreciate your DHF out back preference. So good.
If I could only use one tire, front and rear for the rest of my life, DHF takes the title.

By far the best bike build YTD 👌🤙. I aspire to a 36t front chainring😂. Sidenote, pipe cutters are the easiest steerer tube and handlebars cutting mechanism I've found so far other than a sawzaw! No one else mentioned tire clearance, Bonus info
I prefer to use my dull hacksaw to get my interval training done ;) 36-52 is comically low gearing. What happened to the bike industry, lol

First thing on my mind when there’s news of a new Yeti is Nate Hill’s tipsy bike build.
Sick build. My SB130 is getting to be a couple years old and while I’d love to upgrade to the 140….it’s been such a great bike I don’t think I’m ready to part ways with her yet! I’ve ridden her hard and put her up wet a bunch and she continues to deliver. 😂😂

Always a fun watch with your builds. Your past builds convinced me of lots of things on my bike builds; not weighing them, bash guards, big rotors, etc. How does the Charger 3 hold up to the 1st gen? Looking at a new Lyric for my next build.
The charger 3 feels great. More damping overall and a better adjustment range.

It's just linkage brother. Keep is properly serviced at the recommended intervals, like everything else on your rig, and you will be sorted. Can be cleaned with tequila.

I am a fan of the Dissector. Ran one out back in a DH casing in the Whistler Bike Park a couple if years ago and was impressed. Great fast rolling tire for hardback with solid cornering knobs. Big fan.
Assuming your bottom bracket shell width is 73mm your BB requires the 4.5mm spacer for boost.

it's a good compromise in terms of weight and traction. I will see how they hold up, but so far I'm impressed.
But I'm with you on Maxxis tires - I don't care about the weight either and get traction for days and great

I liked the Martello I tried a while back. I've been a Maxxis athlete for 10 years.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses channel-locks for DUB BBs! I keep thinking there’s no point buying the tool because I probably won’t ever fit one again and yet it keeps happening 😅

Small rotors are for Xc. Anything away from xc > 203 front and rear ! 🙏🏻

It has a stock tune. I run 35% ish sag. The rest is personal preference.

Nate, I am a fairly aggressive rider, albeit not quite where you are, from the Grand Junction area. I ride a lot and put in good miles. Since you are familiar with the terrain here, would you personally ride an SB120 or SB140 here as a primary bike? I am looking for GJ/Fruita area only assuming I have a separate bigger bike for park days.
You could honestly go either way, I guess it depends on your riding style. There is enough chunk to warrant a 140 but everything is relatively flat so 120 would also feel nice. I would choose 140 personally but that's just me. I haven't ridden 120 yet.

Indeed it does. Makes things easy and quiet.

You were the main reason I bought my SB130 LR. Do you think it is worth getting the SB140? I've been thinking of just getting a carbon wheelset for my 130 instead of a new bike.
Glad to hear that friend. Honestly, the geo is essentially the same. If you want a more refined ride, get the new 140. I would guess your dollar would go farther with some bling wheels though.
