Reminds me of working in sydney cbd in the 90s and early 2000s, I used to ride down those stairs at the harbour bridge and also back up them every day to work in North sydney. Rode a mountain bike as the commuter with continental semi slicks. It is the best view in the world crossing the harbour bridge when the weather is nice.

    i work in the field 100% and the best thing about it is taking the feedback into consideration but also critics so i know i wouldn't say mandatory but it defiantly gives a sense of skin in the game when engineers get into the thing considering most people without a degree are so fast to point the finger back at "engineers" for the pitfalls or poor results. and we like bagels too so that could be the icebreaker and if not job done.

    • @joshkwan
      @joshkwan  5 месяцев назад

      You raise a good point. As I said in the video I used to be field based a lot more. This was maybe 1-2 years ago when we were developing the design.
      Now we have moved much further along and the consultation phase is over. We still talk to people regularly but that role has been transitioned to the Community and Stakeholder team.
      Good to see the perspective of another engineer. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

    Just a few more questions...
    - What is the name of the street you grew up on?
    - What is your mother's maiden name?
    - What is the make of your first car?
    That was an interesting look! BTW you don't have to use a brushing motion with an electric toothbrush, you can just move it along. Also you have good taste in mice and keyboard, but your poor neck must get sore looking down at your laptop.
    Seeing that you work with energy transmission, what do you think of SPD vs SPD-SL vs Speedplay vs Time, etc? (ha)

    06:30 a cycle path in a garage!? Nice! Never seen such before :)
    06:32 a perfect way of keeping your bicycle safe at work. Not only it's in a closed compartment but can also secure it with additional bike chain lock. One thing I would also hate, is to leave my bicycle under an open sky, and rain, even a cheap bicycle :)

    • @joshkwan
      @joshkwan  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there. I tried many solutions, even paid for a pair of prescription sunglasses. In the end I just switched to contact lens. It means I can use whatever sunglasses I want. And when it’s early morning I don’t need the sunnies I can just stow them. All the best

    like said in past posts out in rural victoria have AU riders that rock up to a group rapid ride on a MTB bike
    being in construction and design and planning
    I will voice the need of more paths sydney water has a whole aqueduct system to campbeltown
    need to look at a pathway system and better solutions
    I would rather be on a path near a railway than 1m from traffic
    we need to identify where and how to link up suburbs
    we are seeing new airport
    I hope we have cycle system and links
    river and creek side nature strips and state rail land paths can double up as emergency vehicle access
    kmon sydney
    we are seeing in eurobike the tech around the new DJI motors and few others - we need a path system that will handle EBIKES

      Agree on your points. Cycling infrastructure has been a bit of an afterthought in Sydney. And the problem with retrofitting something is that it is
      1. Very expensive
      2. Never fit for purpose
