Drl's are daytime running lights. They stay on during the day. Some states require this, but mine does not so I disabled that by doing this. I'm just pulling from the battery and heating the bulbs for no reason during the day
I did this recently and instead of cutting that wire, i pulled the wire out with the pin. That way i have the option to put the pin back in without having to reconnect cut wires.
Thanks for the video. I have a Toyota Corolla Axio 2007 and I replaced my Halogen lights with a HID Toyota genuine kit. With that change I replaced my light switch with the Toyota Premio 260 switch that comes with the automatic option (the new switch wire clip does not match the old one, so I connected the wire suitable for normal operation). My car has an automatic light sensor on the instrument panel and how do I connect it to activate that feature for a new switch?

Just did this yesterday but depinned it instead of cutting it. An FYI for you guys, this will also disable your automatic headlights, meaning your low beams/tail lamps will not come on when it gets dark.
Hey, I recently bought some LED headlights for my 2013 corolla, and the DRL flickers like crazy! But when I turn high beams on, it works perfectly normal, same with low beams. I don’t want the DRL either, so this would do it right?
Mine did the same thing with the flickering. It has to do with the LED's pulling more power than the standard bulb...thus they flicker. By killing the drl's...you save life in the bulbs and eliminate the problem.
@@righteousredneck777 So I almost clipped off the light blue cord, and I caught myself! So I found the ACTUAL BLUE cord, and IT WORKED!!! Again, I really appreciate your tutorial. You have no idea how grateful I am for you and the video!

I upgraded my Low and Highbeams to Morimoto HIDs but the HID's dont run in low power mode and so this keeps my HIDs in high beam mode all the time during the day. Not good! Hence why I need to disable DRL.
@@hoganfogarty7858 that's odd. Go by autozone or somewhere and have the battery and alternator tested. Just to make sure you have proper voltage. That's where I would start. This is kinda strange, but I'm sure it's something electrical
On my 2010 RAV4, by removing the relay it won't allow my high beams to work at all. I hate DRL's. My wife has a 2013 RAV4 and Toyota lets you cut them off simply by turning the dang switch back!!
@@MemphisMojo15s right! I don't like him either. I saw in another video and the guy said that each bulb uses about 50 Watts. So that's 100 Watts that's being used that does not need to be used. I tried just removing the daytime running lights out of the sockets. Actually you have to remove the socket and the lights together. When I did that I noticed that my left turn signal in the front was not working. I think that's why nobody has mentioned to do this.
So the point of DRLs is so that other people can see you when it's transitioning from day to night and vice versa or when it's rainy, you can see the road in front of you, but you can't necessarily see the car on the other side of the road because it dark enough out that shapes get distorted or harder to see
