I have the mini version with no co2 and it’s doing very well after just 2 months planted it’s tripled in quantity. As the video said, Just needs some algae eaters to keep on top of it. (My newly stocked Otos like to pick algae off it)
Hi, I also planted hairgrass mini on my nano tank, medium lighting setup with no CO2 injection, but on day one some part of the grass are turn yellow, most of them are all right though, is this normal? It's my first time trying to plant hairgrass 😁
@@sakarepmu1190 well that happened to me too but not much. Maybe 5%. I also have Tropica substrate, light 8hrs a day on timer and a gravel vac to get debris that fall in the grass..
@@sakarepmu1190 yes it’s normal. The plant is just acclimating to its new environment. API has a nice C02 booster I would suggest if not using injected C02
Hi All... Thank you for your reply and suggestions, now is the fifth day for my mini hairgrass, and turns out they are doing well, after cleaning up all the dead leaves I also start injecting CO2 just yesterday (the diy yeast & sugar version), hopefully they'll grow and propagate better 😁
This is the only plant among ~50 species that I've never succeeded with and my mind is blown away by this (since it's famous for being such an easy plant), lol. Tried it several times in several tanks. Strong to moderate/low light, lean dosing, EI dosing, always additional CO2 yet no success. Planting depth tried at I guess ~1,5-4 cm. No new runners, leaves slowly dying off one by one if I don't trim, if I do trim the plant is done with. Does it have any particular requirements? Does it like harder water? (mine's quite acidic). As mentioned, all other plants have grown without a problem, ranging from easy to advanced category (all tropica plants).
It's a horrible plant for me in an aquarium otherwise doing well. Most of the blades of grass turn yellow and a few new ones come up very slowly and are small and weak.
I just received mine, but it is a mat carpet ready made which I can cut in pieces and insert into substrate, but they are much longer than I could imagine, over 15cm height already... Can I give them a haircut?
Hi i am mounting a new tank but i have questions about the light that this plant need my tank have 39 inch length 19.86 height and 17.71 width (100cmx50cmx45cm) do you know how much lumenes this plant need?
Good morning George, this is one of my favorites. I actually had it growing real well in my aquarium and I moved it around too much. Noob mistake 😂 thank you for this plant species profile! As always, the beautiful line of Tropica plants. I just finally made the comment on your last video on your channel I really studied on the four different scapes 😁 I love Scaped Nature! Next I'm working on listening to your I'm excited to check it out. I hope you and everybody at Tropica have a very blessed and beautiful day!
maybe you should consider using plinth or masking the bottom with a coloured film to hide the roots? for us, visible roots are great as you can see if they are healthy
@@TropicaAquariumPlants I don't mind visible roots, my other tanks with Montecarlo look great like that, it's the fact that the plant grows downwards beneath the substrate when I want it over it doing a nice carpet. I guess that maybe the substrate is just too thick and the plant doesn't mind catching the reflecting light from the side glass.
Great video! For trimming, do we need to trim as close to roots as possible? (E.g. certain plants’ leaves will die off when cut partially, is hair grass like that?)
@@TropicaAquariumPlants First off, legendary for actually replying, second, if its 2:30am there, please get some sleep, third, What do you reccomend I use? And what's the proper dosage for a 65gl tank?
Haha. The day just kicked off in Denmark, it's 8 am. The specialized nutrition range should suffice, 30ml after each water change. You have to monitor the tank and fine tune the dosage yourself as water parameters are never the same across the world. If you wanna go all in, you can spice things up with some "nutrition capsules" sprinkled on the sand.
@@TropicaAquariumPlants Oh! Wonderful then, thank you for the help, Haha. Guess its liquid fert for me then. One dose per water change, I do mine on a monthly basis, and its roughly 40%. To much to little? Also, I read that some plants take from the water colum better than others? Is this one of those? Also, wont my nitrogen cycle filter out all the ammonia and nitrite needed for the plants? Sorry I ask alot of questions

I really like the plant profile playlist! Very helpful and informative and pleasing to watch.
slowly building up that library. Which plants would you like to see next?
@@TropicaAquariumPlants That Playlist will become a great source of knowlegde. I think Hygrophila Araguaia or Hydrocotyle Tripartita would be cool!
Another good material regarding plants. Best regards from Poland.

that voice... isn't that George Farmer?

hm, mine grows pretty tall. any tips to keep it low?
Yes trim it

Thank you. No, you shouldn't worry about the leaves dying off and the trimming is completely up to you and the results you want to achieve.
nice
Do i need to use fert soil like Fluval or is my sand substrate good? My tank only has Nitrates, no Ammonia or Nitrite
Hi. You don't have to add soil, it's enough to make sure you give the plant enough nutrition by other means. Check out tropica.com/en/plant-care/

What substrate do you suggest using?
Hi Kyler. You can have a look at these options, but it boils down to the look you want to achieve tropica.com/en/plant-care/substrate/
how to remove algae from hair grass?
